My daughter was at a Bright Horizons facility, which was far from work and with a room teacher who was capable but seemingly unenthusiastic. The ELC has excellent staff, Stephanie loved my daughter like she was her own, and my daughter was excited to see her in the mornings and didn't care that I had to go (what a relief!). There are three infant rooms, in mine they would make seasonal take home crafts. There is a high level of parental involvement encouraged with parent-teacher meetings and holiday gatherings, they had a thanksgiving lunch for example, prepared on site parents just came, ate and played with their kids. The ELC is a research facility for the University of Delaware and as such they are different than other facilities, your child is not obligated to participate in research other than observation. Each room has a one way observation mirror, there are college students visiting and observing constantly which I think adds an extra boost of energy to the place. They provide full meals with tuition, designed by a dietitian, I found this to be one of the most helpful perks. As a first time mom I didn't know that babies could or would eat AND I didn't have to worry about food on top of everything else I was juggling. They also have a very cozy breastfeeding room. The facility has excellent security, you have to be buzzed in and if you go unrecognized identity is verified by an on file photo.

Well I am here to say that it was the best decision I made. Mrs. Noel is very loving and caring with my daughter. She is up waiting for me every morning, ready to receive my daughter. My daughter cries upon meeting everyone, but not with Mrs. Noel. She took to her right away. She plays and interacts with the kids through songs, reading, outings, computer literacy and more. She keeps my baby fed, clean, happy, loved, stimulated and most importantly safe. I would recommend her to anyone looking for daycare.

Stopped in for a lunch this time instead of spending some time to help the local community with…read moredonated items and food for the Delaware Food Bank. The Food Bank has benefits the different communities nearby, like Newark and Wilmington, with items being donated to help those in need. I have helped with different groups throughout my time in Delaware and have always been a big advocate of trying to support local non-profits whenever I get a chance. This sometimes has a delicious reward with money spent at the Discovery Cafe supporting the cause while enjoying some yummy curry chicken salad wrap for lunch on my day off. The Cafe has some indoor and outdoor seating along with some fresh produce for some homecooked meals at home. Stop in to help the Food Bank during their different events, volunteer with friends or your company and enjoy some yummy meals afterwards all going to a great cause.

Timing and treatment of donors appear to be major problems at the Christiana center. At each visit, I had to wait much longer in the reception area (after filling out the electronic questionnaire) than I ever have at other donation centers. That wasn't the worst of it, though. Each time, once I had done the in-person interview and had my vitals and blood iron level checked, I was taken to lie down in a chair in the donation area. On my first visit, I lay there for about 15 minutes, without anyone even acknowledging my presence, before the phlebotomist finally arrived to take my blood. I'm used to getting hooked up immediately at my usual donation center, so that long delay was frustrating. I heard someone say they were short-staffed that day, so I decided to give the location one more try. The next time I was scheduled to donate, I returned to Christiana. I told my interviewer about the previous delay; she said something reassuring, then took me to the chair. This time, I lay there for more than 20 minutes, without a word from anyone -- no "Sorry for the delay" or "Someone will be with you shortly" or anything. I was feeling not just unappreciated but invisible. And I was worried I'd be late getting somewhere after my appointment. So, for my first time ever (after 50+ blood donations), I simply got up and left, telling the receptionist I couldn't wait any longer. From now on, I'll be donating my blood elsewhere.
