First, this is not so much a review of foundations, but rather with CADENCE. regarding Foundations, The teachers are wonderful, especially Ms Sarah and Ms Demi, who are fantastic. The facilities are great, and so is the quality of education they provide. As far as the school goes, I give it a 5 put of 5. That said, recently they have been acquired by a company called cadence. Since then your kid will get sent home for the slightest reason. If they have a fever then it's mandatory three days out instead of 24. For some things it's 5 days. Nor will they accept results of a negative Covid test. Cadence's ridiculous policies puts a tremendous amount of strain on working parents that unfortunately offsets many of the great aspects of the school. In Cadence's defense they will refund some of your tuition back if your child is out for a long time. read more

The elementary program for this school is less than adequate. We are leaving foundations after my son's kindergarten year and are working diligently to get him to where we think he needs to be academically. I don't know if that is attributed to the program or the teacher; I know I am not the only parent coming out of this year that feels this way. They test the students on subjects they simply don't teach. And if they do - I hardly saw evidence. The communication with my son's teacher was lackluster at best. During a parent teacher conference, I asked a simple question about reading materials, and she completely shut down. She couldn't answer what the kids use to assist in reading, as I quickly discovered my son hadn't learned anything and needed to know how best to supplement at home. When I asked what materials they use, she stopped talking, put her hands in her lap, and looked down for a good minute. It was truly disturbing. it was as if someone unplugged her. My husband and I were very confused. Communication over day-to-day activities was also lackluster. One Friday, my son dropped his entire lunch (that we provided), and they did nothing to get him anything else to eat. Not even a cracker. Nor was it communicated to me that this had happened. I waited until Monday to ask if he had actually dropped his food, and his teacher did confirm it and told me she looked for some food for him, but 'nobody had any', which is odd considering the school has a chef. Another day I walked up to the playground to see my son eating leaves off the ground. A typical kid thing to do, but his teacher had no idea. Why? Well, I asked what she did when they were outside - in Discovery Park - a pretty heavily wooded area. My son told me she remained at the picnic table for most of their outside time. Then, after he ate a berry off the ground - I emailed again, looping in the program director. I was surprised that they had a berry-producing tree (that the students had full access to); I was told then that 'Obviously, a teacher cannot supervise each and everything all children do while in our care.' Considering there were 10 students, and usually an assistant on the playground with the teacher. I was shocked. One day I got to school early, poor timing on my part; not wanting to interrupt his playtime with friends, I waited in the parking lot where I saw that his teacher indeed sat at the picnic table. She didn't get up once in about a 40 minute period. She sat facing the parking lot, away from the wooded area. This also explained why my son came home with scratches all over his body, with no explanation. The school set some pretty impressive standards for covid, which, to be honest, is why we enrolled him. Those precautions went right out the window; I'd say a month or two into the program. As parents, we weren't informed of this. I know of one event that happened a WEEK into the program that was explicitly against their self-imposed covid protocols. Any time I tried to express my disappointment, or frustration I was met with justification. These are our experiences, and I can imagine that if I receive any response, it will invalidate the things we experienced and justify behaviors. To be honest, I was reluctant to even post this as a review as I feel like in my gut, somehow it could come back on my son. We paid good money for this program, and to come out of it having sent him to daycare his kindergarten year, I'm sure any parent can imagine both the disappointment and the resentment that we feel. read more

As a mother, I was worried about finding a safe and quality school for my kids. By chance I found Foundations for the Future, and both my daughter and my son attended the school. This school met all my expectations, teachers are very friendly, knowledgeable and caring, a school where many activities are organized for children and even parents, where one feels like a part of a big family. My kids always attended school with enthusiasm. it was unique to see their happiness. This school is a happy and safe place for children and their parents. I would definitely recommend! read more

Foundations has been life changing for our family. We transitioned our toddler from another daycare center about a month and a half ago. From our first tour, I have been impressed with their attention to detail, organization, and communication. My son was frustrated in the other school environment, not eating much, beginning to act out with peers, and was not "fitting their mold" as a student. At Foundations, we have seen him not only excel in his language and begin eating more, but he is so much happier. I truly feel that Foundations has changed him and our family for the better. The teachers are caring, nurturing, and understanding, and the activities and expectations for the children are age appropriate and engaging. There's an outdoor covered play area so children can have fresh air still when it is raining or cold, a gym with foam pit and trampoline, spanish classes, music class involving real instruments to investigate, and a lobby that is exciting for students to come in to. Every day, my child says "Bye bye mama! Love you!" and runs to his teacher or to another student to play. Thank you FFTF, for all you do for our son and family! read more

Like most parents it was a very tough choice to decide where we would send our twins to school. Foundations came highly recommended from a couple of families in our circle and even though we live in East Cobb, we were willing to make the commute to Kennesaw if it was the right fit. During our visit to Foundations I was very impressed with look and feel of the school. I liked that it was very organized, beautiful, and clean. Ms. Val took her time to answer all my questions during my visit and you could tell by her detailed tour that she was passionate about her position at Foundations and that I could expect the teachers to share the same passion for their students. I really enjoyed virtually sitting in on class during our orientation. I could see that the students were really engaging and eager to learn which also said a lot about the teachers in the class. We've been with foundations for over 6 months now and my twins are obsessed with their teachers, I've seen many positive changes developmentally. I am overall very impressed with their curriculum, the teachers passion for teaching, overall how the school is ran, as well as the diversity of the staff and students. From someone who has worked in childcare, I highly recommend Foundations for the future! read more

I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL TO ANYONE THAT I LOVE!!!! Our son started at Foundations For the Future (FFTF) May 2017 on a part-time basis. My normally happy baby cried every time that I dropped him off for about a month and a half. He refused to eat or drink while he was there and I suppose we should've seen this as a sign and run the other direction. I mentioned to someone on FFTF's administrative team that I was thinking about withdrawing him since the current path we were on wasn't working. And guess what? They were finally able to help us with the transition. I was thankful for the help, but didn't understand why they didn't offer sooner. In late August, I went to drop off my son and noticed that someone in his class had hand-foot-and-mouth disease. Never in a million years did I expect to walk into his classroom and see the kid sitting at a table covered in blisters!!! I couldn't believe that they would allow a child to come to school with blisters on his mouth and hands. Needless to say, I didn't leave my son and didn't plan on bringing him back until everyone had a clean bill of health. Hand-foot-and-mouth disease went around in his classroom for at least FIVE weeks. I called weekly for updates and was told that a new kid had it every week. I'm convinced that the room and toys weren't cleaned properly because of the number of weeks the disease stayed in the classroom. At that point, we'd had enough and wanted to withdraw our son from their program. But believe it or not, our request was outright REFUSED--we were told that because the contract is semester-based, we would have to continue paying tuition through the month of December, even though our son was not benefitting from his enrollment, and even though FFTF was doing nothing to earn our money. We're first time parents and didn't know what to expect from our son's daycare, but we definitely weren't thinking that we'd have to leave our son in a program that we weren't happy with for an entire semester, regardless of the circumstances! And no, the semester dates aren't outlined in their contract. We met with the head of school who rattled off a bunch of CDC facts and told us that she inspected all of the kid's blisters the day we saw him and none of them were open. I wanted to laugh out loud and to tell her how ridiculous she sounded. His class was at an age where they're learning to walk and putting toys in their mouth. There's no way that none of his blisters opened up during the day and I'm sure the blisters in his mouth left blister fluid everywhere! The meeting left a sour taste in our mouths and we decided that we didn't feel comfortable leaving our son at this school anymore. Despite the fact that our son hasn't seen the inside of this school since August, we're stuck paying them until the end of December. I understand not wanting older kids to withdraw before the end of a semester, but it's a greedy and oppressive policy when applied to infants and toddlers and creates undue stress for parents. So, if you are considering Foundations for the Future for your child I would tell you that there are much better options out there. We have enrolled our son in a new school and he's thriving. I liked his teachers at FFTF, but now that he's somewhere else I see that they were merely babysitters and not teaching him anything. I would also encourage you to visit the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning website to look at the state inspections of any school you're considering for your child. read more

Wonderful Outside of the Box School We have been attending FFTF since my oldest was 2 and she is now 10 and in the 5th grade. We also have our 7 year old in the first grade. We love this school. If your idea of public school is perfect then this school is not for you. It is not a public school with the benefits of a private school, it is so much more. This out of the box school supports its student's curiosity and creativity. The children can grow at their own pace because, let's face it, children do not develop at the same pace. They allow the kids to learn at their own pace which leads to the kids loving to learn and even teach themselves. The environment at the school is so inviting and screams fun right from the front door. The teachers are very knowledgeable of the most up to date teaching methods and teach subjects based on what the kids are currently interested in. We are so happy to have this school in our community and would recommend it to anyone who wants their kids to enjoy learning and not dread it. read more

This place is our home away from home for my family! I was so nervous about taking my little 5 month to school when I started back to work, but honestly just spending time with the teachers and at the school for a bit, I knew he was truly in great hands. I love how constant the communication is between us and the teachers, and everyone there really takes the time to listen to our needs. My favorite part of the day is getting his classroom updates, and seeing pictures of him during class. It really makes the transition returning to work much easier, and you still feel connected to him all the time. Its a very personal experience. Not to mention they are always doing wonderful exciting new activities throughout the day to start the development at such an early age. Now that he has been going for a few months, you can tell he gets excited to come and see his favorite teachers! Found FFTF in 2007 when my son was 1. Enrolled immediately and have been there ever since. I know have a son in first grade and a son in a 3 yr old preschool class. They are excited everyday to get to school and it is their home away from home. This is not a daycare, it truly is a creative school for children - from the infant room all the way to 6th grade. The daily communication is my favorite part. With the daily emails of their class activities in my inbox before I pick them up, I am able to talk to my kids about their day and feel like I was there, even though I have to be at work. Forget the days of asking your child, "what did you do today?" and getting the answer, "nothing." Go here and you have the ability to be apart of your children's day and school experience, even when you physically can't! read more

My daughter just began the Pre-K program at Foundations this year and we are absolutely in love! She comes home everyday excited about the new things that she discovered that day. We get daily emails with photos of our daughter in different activities. This is one of the only schools that I know of where the children are constantly moving which is critical for the development of that age. The teachers are wonderful and talk to the children on their level in such a loving learning manner. The facility is absolutely gorgeous!! The learning is based on what the children are interested in as well. They are excited to learn and not forced to learn. read more

. It's a great daycare, and I like the staff just fine. However, I don't recommend the school. After spending Kindergarten at the school, we transferred to a nearby public school for 1st grade, and I was promptly told my child would be in the after school remedial program to bring him up to speed. While on one hand, it's possible it could simply be my child, on the other hand, for the amount of money each month and my learning of another child from Foundations was in the after school "remedial" program as well... Not impressed with the development of my child, who could read 3 out of 200 words when entering public schools from Foundations. And now 4 months later, he's at 150 out of 200. read more

Upon my transition back to work, I was not at all excited about the idea of daycare/childcare services; however, my husband and I began our search rather early and in advance of our daughter's birth. Since she started at 13-weeks, we have had no doubts that we made the right and best decision in choosing Foundations to give our daughter a productive start. We love it and she loves it too; the infant room and tadpole teachers are just awesome and my husband and I can go about our day feeling that our daughter is in very good and attentive hands! read more

I wish all schools were like this one. Low student/teacher ratios, instruction and group projects based on abilities and interests, no kids forced to sit in desks, lined up in rows, being lectured to. Instead, they sit comfortably on the floor in a circle and discuss the material and learn experientially, integrating it into other subject matter.. The classes have multi-age groups, which allows for better learning and socialization. The young ones learn how to act from the older ones and the older ones take responsibility for being role models for the younger ones. They all learn to interact well and appreciate the other age groups. The best thing of all is the incredible gym with the rock climbing wall, the trampolines and the big pit of foam blocks with the rope swinging into it. These kids start off the day with physical activity to get out their restlessness, which is not only fun for them, but helps them to sit and focus in class. This is especially helpful if your child is very energetic and not so calm and focused. They teach the kids how to think not just remember by rote. These children are so happy and so smart because things are set up to encourage that. The icing on the cake is that the price is much more affordable than most other private schools. Our children have been here for 2 years now. We currently have a 3 year old and 16 month old. Wow! I've always loved how everything is so hands on and different, creative activities everyday, and plenty of outside time...well now I'm really getting to SEE how it translates as they get older. My 3 yo is THRIVING as her teacher weekly observes the interest of the children and creatively turns it into a lesson on letters or numbers and colors and how these things relate to the real world. It is truly mind-blowing because I have learned as a parent, how difficult it is for me to think on the fly like that. The teachers are well-educated and very personable and have been so patient with the different quirks of my two. It is very clear to me that Foundations offers experiences I would never be able to give my children at home and I LOVE that....I'm not sending my children to be babysat, they're at school, LEARNING and feeding their hungry brains - I LOVE IT!
