Today I called looking to enroll my two children in the program. I called and spoke to who ever was below the director. She seemed very off & slow. It took me almost 7 minutes just to explain my name, and my children's name. Moving on, she explained to me that they had an "infant A room and an infant B room" she explained that the infant A room only had Tuesday and Thursday availability but the B room has full availability. She explained that as for my 3 year old there was complete availability. About 2 minutes after, she then stated that she was confused and that the center DOES NOT serve infants and does not even have any infant rooms and that the youngest room she could start is the "penguin" room and that my 3 year old could he put on a wait list bc the 3 year old room was suddenly full. Im sorry but this woman was a complete IDIOT. How do you not know your school doesn't have certain class rooms? How do you just forget rooms are full after you just said they have complete availability. How are you going to advertise infant care on yelp and not have it? We are so impressed with Cadence Academy on Wiley. Our 4 year old has been attending now for about 5 months and we are blown away by the level of activities and curriculum that they have prepared for the children to do everyday. It makes me want to go back to school! They are so consistent about sending detailed updates and pictures of your child everyday. We were at a previous school prior to joining Cadence and, to be honest, it would be hard to set the bar any higher than Cadence at this point. They have been here a long time and have their ducks in a row. It was definitely time to put my daughter into some kind of head start/preschool, once she turned 2yrs. One of my cousins had her daughter(same age) in one of the Montessori schools, and I've heard good things about them also. However I did my research and very glad I did because I came across Cadance Academy. I visited both schools and as soon as I walked into Cadance I loved the vibrant classroom for the 2 year olds. I loved how music & movement and Art were a part of the daily schedule, and play time was also important to me. I also really like the smaller classroom size at Cadance. I was so nervous about leaving my baby, but I felt In my heart Cadance was the better choice for her. The kids report app where the teachers upload photos as well as a report of the day I felt was very very helpful in easing my mind. My daughter started during the summer program in June of 2021, and she loves her teachers Ms. Sammi & Ms. Bre. I have a sensitive one, so they definitely Have been a big part of why My baby loves her school so much. She loves her friends, and the staff is great. I highly recommend this preschool. My 5yo went to Summer Camp here shortly after we relocated from out of state. He had a fantastic time and it truly helped him transition from preschool to Kindergarten. Our daugther was 3.5 years old when she began Sunshine Learning Center (now Cadence Academy Preschool) in August 2021. It would be her first time attending a school setting and in a pandemic. I can't thank Cadence enough, and their kind and sincere Director Jackie, dedicated teachers and staff, for the phenomenal job they did at keeping our daughter safe, learning and happy. What I appreciate most about their school culture is the inclusive nature, quality preschool education and opportunity for open and direct communication. These are so important as we sought after a private preschool that matched our family's needs. Cadence has quality teachers with many years of experience. Ms. Jackie always made herself available when I needed to communicate and especially during a pandemic. If I had a question about Covid or simply my daughter's day, I could call, and most times, she's answering the phone! That to me, speaks of quality leadership and her dedication. She always made herself available to our family, or she returned my call promptly and attentively. She was also always very gracious. There was never a need for worry because I could just pick up the phone. Their focus on open communication is stellar and invaluable. I honestly don't know what I would do without Sunshine. My first daughter went to Sunshine and loved it. Our whole family benefited from her going to Sunshine. We loved it so much, I made sure to call incessantly to make sure that my second daughter got a spot at Sunshine as well. Both of my daughters had/have Miss Mariana and they both loved her the moment they met her. I loved her the moment I met her. Dropping my kids off to daycare is really difficult for me, so to see my girls run to Miss Mariana and give her big hugs brings me peace of mind, which is priceless. I wouldn't be able to function at work without that peace of mind, so I am forever grateful to her. Both Miss Keelan and Miss Jackie have swept up my youngest in their arms when she was having a meltdown (she has a lot), and within seconds, my daughter is calm. I have nothing but good things to say about Cadence Academy. My oldest daughter started 2 years ago and my youngest has been going for a year. As a former Sunshine employee, I can say with confidence this particular facility is the best on in SCV! Keelan, the assistant director is a God send, she is so attentive to the kids needs and takes special interest in making sure they have a great experience when away from their parents. Overall, I give them a 10 out of 10 for how they handled Covid, distance learning and the migration back to on campus learning. They were flexible, patient and really just put the kids first always. The teachers in my daughter's class are very attentive and call me at least once a month to give a progress report or learn what they can do better for her. The only downside is, it can be a bit pricey. I think the service they provide is worth every penny! I LOVE Sunshine! read more

My kids have been going to Cadence (aka Sunshine) for 5 years. I have always felt they were well taken care of. They learned so much in the preschool/Pre-K programs. Sunshine has been such an amazing place for my kids! The teachers are incredibly warm, caring, helpful, communicative and friendly. My boys love going to see them everyday. They use an app where you can find out what your kiddo was working on all day, including pictures, which I have loved! The staff is also extremely friendly and helpful. Best preschool experience! I can not say enough good things about the administration and teachers at Sunshine. This place loves children. You feel the love as soon as you walk thru the door. Ryan and Taylor have done an excellent job of hiring and retaining teachers that are good with children. We previously had an experience at a Montessori where the teachers didn't have the skills to nurture children and make them feel safe and loved at school. As a first time mom, I was very nervous about sending my daughter to a daycare, especially for the pandemic. I was worried about the transition (home-daycare), about the English (we speak Spanish at home) and if my daughter will be fine in another place,  not our home. We started with two days (Tue and Thu) for 2 weeks and  then Miss Jackie recommend us to increase one more day (M-W-F) to make the transition easier for our daughter and for us;  Great Advice,  IT WAS THE BEST DECISION! During the current Covid pandemic we were very hesitant on having our daughter begin her school experience. After extensive discussion and reassurance from school administrators we made the decision to start our child in the program. We are extremely happy and could not ask for a better experience and the safety precautions that are set in place. Most importantly after just a couple weeks we have seen tremendous progress in our child's development. She looks forward to going and has a smile on her face when she is picked up, which is reassuring when having her away from home. I am very displeased by the service I experienced during my Sunshine visit on June 9, 2017. A week prior to coming out to the establishment, I spoke with one of the center's co-directors about conducting a tour. I am relocating from Maryland. I told her I would be visiting California the following Friday. We spoke on the phone for about 30 minutes. She was very congenial and even gave me information about pricing for my three-year-old. I was looking forward to my visit. Sunshine seemed like it would be a good fit for my family. When I arrived that Friday, however, I was greeted with blank stares. I explained that I was the same woman who called from Maryland for information about her son. The owner and the receptionist looked very uncomfortable. At first, I couldn't figure out why. I tried to give a bit more explanation. I said I was relocating for a new job as a professor at a university nearby. At just that moment, the woman I spoke to by phone came back into the establishment from her lunch break. The owner asked her if she had ever spoken to me on the phone, as if I was lying. The employee stared blankly at me too. I tried to refresh her memory by saying I was the one who is relocating from Maryland. I felt myself getting frustrated. And then it dawned on me. I must not have "sounded black" on the telephone. Everyone appeared to be very uncomfortable with the realization. I say this because even though I stood there for nearly 15 minutes, no one ever gave me an orientation packet or folder explaining what Sunshine has to offer. Instead, the owner pushed a half slip of paper across the reception desk and asked me to relinquish $425 for the registration fee. I asked if I could at least get a tour of the facilities first, considering the fact that I had come all the way from Maryland. They suggested that I come back later in the evening, since they were having a special "Meet the Teachers" event. I explained I would be back by 6 PM. They said they would close at 6:30 PM that day, and that I should have ample time for the tour. I looked forward to coming back despite the initial reluctance they showed me. The corporate relocation firm with which I was working had recommended them. When I arrived at 6 PM, the front desk receptionist told me that she was the only one there in the building and could not offer a tour after all. She then slid the same piece of paper across the receptionist desk asking me to make a deposit of $425. I explained that I was uncomfortable making that payment when I had not yet seen the facilities or met my child's potential teacher. At that moment, a man walked into the building. He made his way down the hallway and into the back. I asked if he was someone who could give us a tour. She explained that he was a parent picking up a child. She had just told on herself. She actually wasn't alone in the building. There had to be a teacher in the back supervising that child. It was at this point I realized I had become subject to discrimination. I am writing this post to shine a light on these kinds of daily slights that people of color experience around the country every day. I was not coming into Sunshine to cause any trouble. I was simply a professional, working mom looking for care for her son. I traveled all the way across the country to visit this facility but was never given the opportunity to pass the welcome mat. If they treated me like this, how would they have treated my son? Update: The owner of the establishment wrote to apologize for a "miscommunication," which led to the events described above. As a result, I rescinded a BBB complaint I lodged, since it asked for a written apology. read more

I love this school! My kids feel loved and safe in a family friendly environment. Every year they find ways to make our experience even more outstanding. I love getting pictures and daily updates about my daughter. She is three and loves her teachers. Everyday they have interactive activities. When I pick her up I spend time talking to her about all of their counting games or science experiments. I appreciate the web based daily reports because they make me feel so included in their day. My son is older and attends their summer camp. Shout out to Link and all of our summer counselors! Each day of summer camp is jam packed with water play, trips to magic mountain or the zoo! It's also a good balance. In the afternoons I can send books or school work to keep him sharp for the school year. The counselors go out of their way to get to know all of the kids and encourage them throughout the summer. Overall Mr Ryan does a great job keeping all the kids focused. The teachers all have a long tenure with the school. I know that the administrators and the Sunshine Parent Association go out of their way to support our teachers and help them feel loved. If you are considering a Preschool for your kiddos, you won't find one better than here at Sunshine. You can ask any family and they will tell you the same. It's hard not to boast about Sunshine! Seriously. My daughter wakes up literally every morning (including weekends) and asks if she gets to go to school! That right there is proof she LOVES going which makes us happy and content parents. It makes it easier to let go at drop offs, knowing she is in a loving and nurturing environment with her peers. One of my many favorite things Sunshine offers is Kids Reports. I love getting DAILY photos, notifications, and reminders on this app. Since I can't go in her classroom, it makes me feel involved in a sense. I love seeing the activities the teachers prepare and the lesson plans they implement as well. Ms. Cassie and Ms. Kathy make a wonderful team together. My daughter talks about her day and how much she loves going all the time. I know I sound like a typical parent who loves their child's school, but I also know how important it is to leave your child with people you trust. I can't say enough great things about this school. My daughter has been here for 3 years and has had the most amazing teachers and after school counselors. The feeling you get when you walk in is warmth and like a part of the family. Mr Ryan (Director) and Ms. Taylor (Associate Director) are the best leaders and go out of their way to make sure that the teachers are well supported and the students are well taken care of. Hi Link, This email is long overdue. I will try to keep this short! Im sure that you have heard this before many times or maybe not enough. I felt the need to let you know that your summer camp is AWESOME!!! I tend to be a worrisome parent when the kids go on a field trip but having the opportunity to volunteer on the Knott's Berry Farm trip has left me in aw and has put me at ease to know that Nathan and his friends are in such good hands. I tend to be very observant with things and what I saw and experienced that day has reassured me that there can not be a better place for any kiddo other than Sunshine. First of all, I was assigned to the group with the two counselors, Stitch and Moana. Both of them have passion to work with these kids, its so apparent. I am sure that what I observed was just part of their responsibilities but you need to know that they did not miss a beat. 1. Kids were counted continuously throughout the day. 2. Buddy checks done frequently 3. Potty Breaks often!!! 4. Both counselors ensure that all the kiddos were well hydrated. 5. My favorite, Counselor in the front walking backwards to ensure that the kiddos are being watched by the person in front and the person in the back. 6. In the bus, Stitch kept the kids entertained by singing songs that made the kids interact. He had the entire bus signing along, INCLUDING ME! 7. Moana readjusted kids in the bus as they fell asleep to ensure that they were comfortable as they slept in the bus. Like I said, this might all just be protocol, but as I watched other camps at the amusement park, I could see the difference between Sunshine Counselors and others. This is all due to the Leadership of the Summer camp program, you Mr.Link! Every aspect of the Summer Program is well thought of, for the best interest of the kids and their safety. I returned home that day with peace knowing that it would be easier for Nathan to get lost under my supervision than in any of these field trips....Very well done!! My daughter had been at Sunshine for a year now. She started when she was 2. I was nervous because she had a rough start at a different daycare that i wanted to move her from. But she transitioned into Sunshine with so much ease since day 1! I was amazed. Till this day, she loves school and LOVES her teachers, especially Miss Heather. What we love the most about Sunshine is the genuine care that the teachers and staff show for the kids there. The way Miss Heather and Miss Madeleine interact and treat my daughter warms my heart. Great Preschool, with a great staff! My daughter attended the penguin class with Mrs Kaitlyn and Mrs Beth she and I love them. Sunshine maintains its staff, there is not turnaround the staff's consistent and always pleasant. read more
