"Outstanding School of the Year" out of 200 Cadence Education schools nationwide!
    Rica C.

Gosh, where do I start :-) Sunshine has been an absolute BLESSING to our family! Not enough words can express how SINCERELY loving, caring, professional, and competent the administration and teachers are at this wonderful school. Ryan, Taylor, the teachers, the counselors...they all collectively make this school top-notch! You can honestly feel the hard work and teamwork that everyone puts in to make this preschool the best it can be and exceed parents' expectations. And like in any organization, it is the tone set at the top. Ryan and Taylor set this tone CONSISTENTLY with smiles on their faces each and every day as you walk into Sunshine. Everyone up front knows each and every child's name :-) This is my 5 year old son's second year at Sunshine and I have to repeat again what a blessing each and every day has been for our family. My husband and I are both full-time working professionals who commute to Downtown LA and Ventura, and it is EXTREMELY important for us that our son is in the best possible care while we are at work miles away. Sunshine has delivered 1000%!!! From the first day, I have never ever felt doubt or reservation because everyone there has PROVEN themselves to us. I would consider myself a friendly, happy, and easy-going person but when it comes to my kids, I am painstakingly fastidious, discerning, and very selective. Mommy boxing gloves come out. So my LOVE for Sunshine speaks volumes! My 2.5 year old daughter will be starting Sunshine in June this year, and I can't wait for her to join this AMAZING institution, almost perfect in every way a preschool can be, in my opinion. Like I always tell people...it's the best preschool in town, hands down! We are so PROUD to be part of the Sunshine family!

Our oldest daughter started at 15 months old, our second daughter started at just 5 months old, and now our newest little one will be starting at 3 months. I think that alone speaks to the level of trust we have in the owners, teachers, and staff. There is no greater peace of mind as a parent than knowing your children are somewhere they are safe, loved, cared for, and genuinely known. As working parents without a lot of family nearby, Notre Dame has also been an incredible support system for our family. Their hours from 7 AM to 6 PM are extremely convenient and considerate of working families. They even offer occasional date night evenings, which have been such a gift to us. Being able to go to dinner or see a movie and have adult time while knowing our children are with people we already know and trust is priceless. Both of our older daughters have now graduated from the preschool program, but they still attend Notre Dame for after-school care. Notre Dame picks them up directly from school, which makes our lives so much easier and allows them to remain connected to a place that has been such a big part of their childhood. We have also loved the enrichment classes Notre Dame offers. Our girls participated in each of the programs, including cooking, art, and Spanish, and genuinely enjoyed them. We really appreciated having opportunities for them to learn, explore their creativity, and try new things in a fun environment with people they already knew and felt comfortable with. There are so many other little things that make a difference here as well. They offer home-cooked lunches at a very reasonable price, and when our children reached the potty-training stage, their teachers were incredibly supportive and worked alongside us to help make the transition from pull-ups to using the potty successful and much less stressful. Most importantly, you can see how much love and care the owners put into the facility and into the children. After five years, we have experienced Notre Dame through infancy, toddlerhood, preschool, graduation, and now after-school care, and we are still choosing them for our newest baby. That says everything. We are incredibly thankful we found Notre Dame. For families looking for a place where you can truly feel that your children are safe and cared for while also having people who understand and support the realities of working parents, I cannot recommend them enough.

The Montessori philosophy truly nurtures independence, confidence, and a sense of responsibility, and we have seen that growth firsthand from developing self-sufficiency and mastering potty training to becoming a confident, capable little person. As parents, safety and cleanliness were two of our highest priorities, and this school consistently exceeded our expectations in both areas. We also greatly appreciated the extended hours and the school's accessibility throughout the day, which made an enormous difference in accommodating our busy family schedule. Beyond the classroom, the school created so many meaningful opportunities for families to be involved. From holiday performances to festive celebrations and special events, these experiences fostered a wonderful sense of community and allowed us to share in so many memorable moments. We will genuinely miss the incredible staff and, of course, Miss Jay, who has been such a wonderful part of our son's journey and for patiently putting up with all of us along the way! We leave with nothing but gratitude and fond memories, and we feel incredibly fortunate that our son had the opportunity to spend these formative years here.

It has been such a meaningful journey for our family. We've watched our daughter grow step by step -- becoming more confident, emotionally aware, and socially comfortable in ways we will always appreciate. The teachers have been incredibly supportive and kind throughout. They've taken the time to really understand her, guiding her with patience and care while also encouraging independence and curiosity. We've always felt welcome and well-informed as parents, and communication has been clear and reassuring. Over the years, our daughter has taken part in recitals, science fairs, and different performances, each one helping build confidence and creating joyful memories. It's been beautiful to see her enjoy learning and express herself so freely. We are also very thankful for the approach, which has created such a calm, respectful, and child-focused environment. It has allowed our daughter to learn at her own pace and develop a genuine love for learning, rather than just focusing on results. Most of all, we want to sincerely thank Ms. Rushani for her outstanding leadership as Director. Her experience, knowledge, and understanding are clearly reflected in every part of the school. She leads with care and intention, and it has made a real difference in our daughter's early education. We are leaving with full hearts and deep appreciation for everything this school has given our daughter and our family.

My daughter is only 19 months old, and the growth we've seen in her since starting here has been incredible. She is already so advanced for her age, and I genuinely believe that's a direct reflection of the thoughtful curriculum and the intentional, nurturing environment the school provides. What really sets this school apart, though, is the staff. Every single teacher and team member we've encountered is warm, attentive, and deeply invested in the children. They don't just "watch" the kids, they engage with them, encourage them, and celebrate their milestones like they're their own. A special thank you to Ms. Sam and Ms. Maddy, who care for my daughter so thoughtfully each day. They have made such a meaningful impact on her growth and happiness. On the second week of this program, during the last 10 mins where they separate the parents and let the kids play on the playground, one of the teacher's aide put her on the swing by herself, pulled her back, and pushed her forward. My daughter flipped backwards off the swing, spun in the air, and landed facedown on the ground. My wife ran out and quickly checked on my daughter and took her home. We called the pediatrician's office to see if we needed to bring her in to check for signs of concussion. After this happened, the school never once called to see how she was doing. The next day, we got a hold of the director and spoke to her about this incident. She tried to downplay it equating it to a minor fall/scrapes. No, this was not just a minor fall but a dangerous accident that happened in the hands of the teacher's aide. She then let us know that the way they work the swing is they first ask the child if they know how to go on and if the child say 'yes' and their hands are on the chains, they can go ahead and push the child. So they ignore what the parent told them during orientation, do not take any precautions when pushing a small child on the swing as long as the child said 'yes' to the swing? This is highly reckless and dangerous! We canceled our enrollment and never coming back here. Parents beware!

She is very hands on and is an amazing teacher. They are allowed to be children and explore the world around them. They do gardening, play in the mud, and many outdoor activities where they can learn through play. The children are taught values: how to be kind and respectful, how to be a good friend and of course academics. The smaller class size means that your child will get better quality of education versus a class of 29 in public school. After my 4th child graduated kindergarten, it was a no brainer for me to enroll my 5th child at Rise and Shine. My 5th child has learned and grown so much since starting kindergarten! He developed love for God and enjoys praying and reading his bible before going to bed. Don't be fooled though, the academic portion of the kindergarten class is really challenging and at the end of the day your child will surprise you with what he's learned in class. We really love Teacher Jeannie and Rise and Shine. I have nothing but praise and gratitude for them. Even if you have Teacher Jeannie as your teacher, you will feel that the school has a family atmosphere. Every one knows your child by name and truly cares. My only regret is not discovering them sooner with my 3 older children and I still pray that they open up elementary classes! That would be the dream!

I am writing this review because I believe prospective parents deserve to know about our experience…read moreat Montessori Stevenson Ranch. My son attended the school between approximately ages 2 and 3. He is now 4 1/2, and since leaving, he has attended three other schools. Two were private schools, and the feedback from each has consistently been that he is intelligent, friendly, well-behaved, and academically advanced. At his current school, he was leading his class in reading and was recently moved up into a Kindergarten class because of his academic ability. I want to be clear that I am not writing this review simply because Montessori Stevenson Ranch was not considered the right fit for my son. I am writing because there were two incidents during his time there that I have never forgotten and that I believe other parents should be aware of. During his enrollment, we were repeatedly called into meetings with the principal regarding our then-two-year-old's behavior. It became so frequent that another school administrator was brought in to observe my son. We were made to feel as though our two-year-old was unusually problematic, which was difficult to reconcile with the feedback we received from his subsequent schools. The first incident occurred during circle time. My son was rolling around on the rug with another child. That child was wearing boots and stomped on my son's eye, causing an injury that split the area open and came close to requiring stitches. What continues to bother me is that the focus of the school's response was on my son's activity during circle time rather than appropriately addressing the fact that another child had stomped on his face. Nearly two years later, my son still has a visible scar from that injury, and it remains a painful reminder of that experience. The second incident is the one that concerns me most. One morning during drop-off, I realized I had accidentally left my son's water bottle in my car. I immediately walked back to retrieve it and returned less than a minute later. When I attempted to open the classroom door, something was blocking it. I went around to the back entrance and discovered that my two-year-old son was lying face-down on the floor, crying, with his body positioned against the door. There were three adults in the room at the time: the teacher, the principal, and the front office clerk. Rather than immediately assisting my crying two-year-old, they were standing nearby with their arms behind their backs, watching him. This was during drop-off, when other parents and children were entering the classroom, creating an obvious possibility that he could have been hurt by someone trying to open the door. When I asked what was happening, the teacher immediately began attending to my son, and he calmed down. As a mother, seeing my two-year-old lying face-down and crying while multiple adults stood watching was deeply disturbing. I remember having to consciously maintain my composure because there were other young children in the classroom. I was extremely upset, but I remained professional. Ultimately, we decided to remove our son from the school. That decision created significant logistical and family challenges because we were living and working in the area at the time. We temporarily had to rely on a relative's school much farther away, resulting in an extremely long daily commute, before eventually transitioning to schools in the Valley that proved to be a much better environment for him. Most importantly, time and experience have given me perspective. My son's subsequent teachers and administrators have consistently recognized his intelligence, social development, positive behavior, and academic abilities. His current school has even advanced him academically because he was performing ahead of his grade level. Every child and every school is different, and I understand that not every environment will be the right fit for every child. However, I believe parents should pay close attention to how a school responds to a very young child, particularly when that child is injured or distressed. I am sharing this review so parents considering Montessori Stevenson Ranch can make an informed decision and ask questions about supervision, incident response, classroom management, and how young children are supported when they are struggling emotionally or behaviorally.
