As a big-city corporate refugee and now a Wilmington local, I do not want to share our new favorite date night place, it is a miracle that we have such a great restaurant within walking distance from our home. Great ADK decor, but I did not write this review because of the decor, the food is amazing. Better than anything in LP, Keene, Jay, or Wilmington and we have been to all of them, and on par with some of the best niche restaurants in NYC or Chicago. Really. Do you like: chef-prepared vegan and vegetarian food with some seafood and steak items also on the menu? Great speciality drinks? Wide range of beers? The best wine list in Wilmington (OK, a low bar) but on par with a big city small restaurant wine list? Homemade desserts? Then this is your place. Came here for my birthday dinner and had a lovely time. We sat outside in the porch. Service was extremely friendly and attentive. I had the blackened red snapper which came with a bed of grilled vegetables and couscous. It was so flavorful and reminded me that fish can be delicious and filling if cooked right. read more

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Cadence Lodge when I went to Whiteface Mountain for a snowboard holiday. My room had a lot of charm. It really felt like a country cottage without seeming run down or outdated. The pictures of the rooms are accurate in my experience, which I haven't always found in other small hotels being a bargain shopper. Shelley and Don who run the Cadence Lodge (I assume they are the owners) were totally friendly and accommodating. Also, they have a restaurant at Cadence from Thursday through Sunday which was great. I went there one night and also went out to dinner in Lake Placid another night, and my meal at Cadence was definitely better. The proximity to Whiteface, a 5 minute drive, can't be beat. The next time I am in the Lake Placid area I will not shop around, I will just stay at Cadence for sure. read more

Didn't stay at the lodge, but had dinner here and it was delicious. Small space but cozy ambiance. I would recommend making a reservation. Food was very fresh and likely all local ingredients. Incredibly vegetarian friendly as well, compared to other places in the area. Only two wait staff, so service was slightly slow, but they were hustling and still amicable, which made everything worth the wait. I would come back here next time I'm in the area. My husband and I worked with the Cadence Lodge to secure room blocks for our wedding in July 2018. We met the owners, Shelley and Don, last winter to arrange the blocks and learned that they were in the process of renovating all the rooms of the cozy, U-shaped motel in the heart of Wilmington. By July, the cute (though outdated) rooms had undergone gorgeous renovations, including updated rustic modern decor, complete bathroom remodels, and new everything. For those looking for where to stay in the area, let me tell you that we were wowed by our experience and the quality of accommodations at the Cadence. So were our wedding guests, who repeatedly commented on everything from the comfortable beds to the cleanliness to the friendly owners to the awesome outdoor pavilion (with BYOB bar, fireplace, seating, TVs and board games). This is an adorable, NEW, CLEAN, comfortable, convenient boutique motel in the Adirondacks that is extremely family-oriented, accommodating, and responsive to guests. Shelley's cell phone number is even on the welcome handout in each room ...seriously, who does that? The Cadence does! The room rates are reasonable and affordable. The complimentary breakfast spread is above-and-beyond what you'd expect (check out the awesome tables made with maps of the Adks!). There's a small community kitchen available to guests - extremely convenient for group get-togethers outside or in the pavilion. And the motel is perfect for families, bicyclists, couples, reunions, or a quiet getaway. Lastly I have to mention how very grateful we are for all that Shelley and Don did to ensure our wedding went smoothly. Shelley saved our butts a few times when we were stuck with flower delivery issues and a lost laptop, and never batted an eye. We were so fortunate to have discovered the Cadence, and we can confidently recommend them without hesitation to anyone looking for a place to stay. We stayed New Year's weekend 2022 into 2023 and the accommodations were excellent: Our room was renovated and clean, and the made-to-order breakfast was so good it was hard to believe it was complimentary. The owners and staff were very hospitable and friendly, and quickly took care of a few small requests we had. Additionally, they went above and beyond with a not-so-small request: we had a car issue (nail in tire) and one of the owners was willing to pick us up if we ran into trouble on our way into town to have the tire patched (fortunately, that was not needed). First time up at Whiteface and cadence was perfect for what we needed. Two adults, a teen and a dog and we stayed in the "six pack". Each person got their own bed and plenty of space to spread out and cubbies was nice touch. Heat works great. WiFi was very good too. Hot water didn't quite lay for three people so we learned to stagger our shower times. As far as I can tell, location is a great. 6 min drive to whiteface, walkable to little super market and The Country Bear- really good breakfast. Room was in great shape and clean. The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in. (and I never like hotel beds) In fact, I'd say it was one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in, period. Good pressure in the shower. Plenty of hot water. And, the complementary weekend breakfast blows away any free hotel breakfast you've ever seen. The kids had waffles and pancakes with bacon. The wife had an egg white omelet. I had lox and bagels. This is a welcome change from the hotels in Lake Placid. It's right at the base of the Whiteface summit road so you can ride up and down it all day without the 11 mile ride over from Lake Placid; there are reasonably priced dining options up and down the street; you can walk to the Ausable for fishing; the rooms have been remodeled; there's a nice outdoor grill and community kitchen; and, the whole staff is enormously helpful. read more

Room only has 3 coat hooks for hanging clothes, no dresser, just a 3 shelf open bookcase under TV for clothes, shelves not deep enough. Bathroom needs a shelf or drawer under sink or on wall. we stayed at Cadence Lodge July 4th wkend for a wedding reception being held there. What a hidden gem this place is! As soon as we opened the door to our room, we could smell how clean it was. The accommodations were great, and the beds are so comfortable. The food for the welcome dinner, reception, and farewell breakfast were all cooked by the owners, and it was so good!! Shelly, the owner went above and beyond to make sure everyone had everything they needed. There is a beautiful covered pavilion with a fireplace and a bar. A lot of folks write reviews just based on the personnel. We had an extremely fabulous experience with the owners. Hands down they put their heart and soul into their place but in addition to them we love their lodge. It is clean and comfortable. BEWARE. We booked a long weekend over the winter and because of a family emergency, we couldn't make it for the first evening. When we were about to drive the 6 hours to get there on the second day, they informed us that our king room was not available and offered us 2 doubles. We requested a refund and the owner was not willing to negotiate. This is a very poor business practice as we reserved the room months in advance and it was paid in full. They gave our room away, offered us an inferior room for a romantic getaway, and the owner wanted nothing to do with helping us resolve the issue. Great value. Was upgraded to a larger room. Has a cabin feel with a living room area and a bedroom. Clean with microwave, good sized fridge, and large enough bathroom. John (the owner) was helpful with helping us with our stay and has pamphlets on where are the hot spots. Negatives was wifi worked on and off and beds were a bit too hard for my liking. In any case it was a great value and you are right next to Whiteface mountain, high falls gorge, and 10 miles from Lake Placid. Would book again. read more

We had the pleasure of staying with Shelley and Don last weekend when we were in the area for a wedding. To say this place is clean is an understatement. Even the lovely outdoor seating area and firepit area were as clean as a whistle. The room and bed were super comfortable and the weekend continental breakfast was fabulous. Our experience was very different from many of the reviews. Our non-renovated room (except the mattress) was tiny, dingy, had no storage for our belongings and provided no heat in the bathroom!! Just stayed the night, was very impressed with the friendly owners. Our room was very clean and newly renovated . The place was cute , relaxed and homey! They also offer a great patio area with a fireplace and grills are available if you decide you want to cook. Also there's a kitchen available that all are welcome to use . This was my first time visiting Lake Placid & I wanted a place that was pet friendly and close to everything. I came across Cadence Lodge and booked instantly, not one regret. Such a lovely quiet place and VERY dog friendly. The new owner Sherry is so sweet and helpful, she was able to recommend a great lakes/beaches and beautiful hiking trails near by. The place is undergoing renovations to make it more modern but so far everything was PERFECT! I will be returning. read more

I give this place 4 stars because it really hits the mark for an affordable no frills mountain lodge. We payed 80 bucks a night for a standard king room. It was clean, sported a new comfy mattress and a larger than average hotel fridge, had a nice flatscreen with standard cable, had a clean bathroom with good water pressure in the shower, and offered plenty of space for bulky winter/ski luggage. The owner was very friendly and accommodating - flexible with his check-in and check-out times. The continental breakfast is your standard bagels, cereal, coffee, milk and orange juice - nothing impressive, but enough to fill the belly before you hit the slopes. We chose to stay here because we were headed to Whiteface to ski for the weekend and didn't want to waste money on a fancy hotel room... as we didn't plan on spending much time there anyway. Another nice aspect for visitors of Whiteface is that the hotel is much closer to the resort than anything in Lake Placid. It's distance from the hustle and bustle of Lake Placid is nice to separate yourself from that touristy crowd. All in all - this will be our go-to hotel from now on when we visit Whiteface/Lake Placid. Great value. read more

We stayed over Memorial Day weekend and the place was busy but not crazy. Wilmington is outside Lake Placid at the base of Whiteface. Owners were super friendly and accommodating. We had not been in the area in years and did not know what to expect. Our room was very clean and newly renovated . The place was cute, relaxed and clean! They also offer a great patio area with a fireplace and grills are available if you decide you want to cook. Nice breakfast area that was served in the morning (only on weekends) . We Stayed there winter 2017. The mattresses were terrible. 4 of us stayed here, and throughout the night you kept having to turn because the side you were laying on started to hurt. Worst sleep ever. Compare it to sleeping on the ground. Also the floor was freezing cold and it wasn't to warm in our room either. We slept fully clothed. Also you could see daylight underneath our crooked front door. We couldn't park in front of our rooms either because the owners were parked there. But on the plus side it was relatively affordable, the breakfast was good, and the owners were very nice and laid back. read more

Thought the place was fantastic. The woman at the front desk was pleasant and helpful. The room was a clean all over with a super cold fridge and flat screen TV. The hotel's location is central in the area from all the good hiking spots. Will return next time I'm in the Lake Placid area. read more
