I'm not necessarily a client of any Attorney who is based here, at least I know for future reference there are well known lawyers in town within reach. Parking is validated by 24 Hour Fitness for members for 3 hours when parking in the Executive Center and so far most times that I have gone, it was easy to park and get into the building. I hired a probate lawyer at this firm (Pohai Campbell) Turns out, she was the most unskilled Lawyer who did not do a single thing to try to help me with my case!!!! We had 2 zoom appearances in probate court that lasted all 10 min. One of them was a non event appearance, but I got billed for 3 hours of her time. She then, needed to seek guidance from her fellow colleagues because she couldn't do her job due to litigation (billed me for her so called meetings/guidance with other colleagues) Seriously, pls don't become a lawyer if you're not confident enough to represent your client. Pohai never did anything to help me with my case. Petition draftings, phone calls/emails are the most she did!!! After the second court appearance, we had an evidential hearing set. She then, emailed me, she can no longer represent me as counsel due to the scope of the case (since my brother contested the will) Basically, this is the most important part of a probate case .....& she wants out now?!? Unreal!!! I eventually had her withdraw as my representative after only two zoom court appearances and my ridiculous bill was almost $15,000 for her so called services. She did feel bad and gave me a discount of 10% thank you for that (the only good thing out of this case) Probate is one of the most difficult experiences any family will probably have to go through. If you're born and raised here in Hawaii, we all know how expensive land is ....and you'll do anything to try and save your families estate from selling. To eliminate that stress, we trust and hire professional lawyers (local lawyers, who share the same values) not Pohai, she actually told me, I'm sorry, your property will probably have to sell?!? That was the moment I knew, I needed to represent myself to save my family land. She had no heart to fight for me!!!! Seek a better lawyer elsewhere! Although due to my own time constraints and last minute request I was not able to work with the firm. Kristin and her team made sure to keep in contact with me and despite her busy schedule she made time to ensure either her personally or her assistant kept in contact as to what's going on and what to expect. That impressed me more than anything, that I was not yet a client and they put much effort into making sure they did their best in keeping lines of communication open and accessible is what I respect most. I'm a psychiatrist who was represented by Cades and Schutte last year against HMSA. I was represented by Jeffrey Portnoy and Lindsay McAneeley. These were the 2 most incompetent attorneys I could have been given to handle my case. Not only did Ms. McAneeley have a panic attack during my arbitration, she billed me for hours that were me listening to her personal problems. Mr. Portnoy likes to proclaim that he's an expert attorney with 51 years of experience, but he was 100% wrong when it came to predicting the outcome of my case. He felt confident that the arbitrator on my case, James Duffy, who was formerly a supreme court justice and also a close friend of his, would make a fair ruling. How wrong he was because his "friend" mysteriously ruled entirely in HMSA's favor and didn't even set an amount I would have to pay back to HMSA. It was complete corruption but since Mr. Portnoy is a narcissist, he was not able to fathom the idea that his friend betrayed him. I guess James Duffy doesn't value his friendship much. In the end, he billed me for hours he said he wouldn't, allowed Ms. McAneeley to bill me for an exorbitant amount of hours and ultimately banned me from this law firm when I tried to console him about his extremely poor performance. In the end, I had to pay over $100,000 in attorney's fees for a case that lasted less than a year, and I had to pay over $340,000 back to HMSA because of the poorest performance I have ever seen in my entire career as a psychiatrist. I would have been better off not even fighting HMSA rather than paying $100,000 to this incompetent law firm. read more

When my parents passed, I didn't know what to do - dealing with grief and worrying about the legal matters that follow death. Mr. David Larsen (Atty) helped me navigate through what I thought would be intimidating and cumbersome. He is not the proverbial "shark" that most lawyers are made out to be. Mr. Larsen is warm, kind-hearted and genuinely cares. The trust that he created for my parents made the legal mumbo jumbo easy. In fact, he even told me that he promised my mother that he would make sure I was okay after they were gone. Every year, after my father and my mother's deaths, he would set up appointments with me. It wasn't because there were problems with the trust - it was to keep his promise to my mother. I've since learned that Mr. Larsen has retired, and his "right hand", Ms. Rhonda Griswold has taken the reins. It has been several years since my parents have passed, and much to my dismay, I find myself needing help with a legal trust matter. Ms. Griswold, Arlene and Summer have been so helpful... Just as a side I remember having to turn in some papers at court - the worker there asked me who the trust attorneys were. I said, "Mr. David Larsen of Cades Schutte." He replied, "Oh! Larsen and Griswold. Cades Schutte ...they're good. Everything should be in order." The next thing I knew, my seemingly long list of "things to do", turned into one simple form. What I like best about Cades Schutte is that the firm has attorneys and staff like Mr. Larsen, Ms. Griswold, Summer and Arlene. Smart. Confident. Caring. Respectful. Respected. read more

My case was transferred to another attorney in the firm without my permission. This new attorney did a poor job of planning and didn't collect evidence needed by trial so we needed to request a delay. Just before the trial date the other side asked the judge to have it dismissed. A corrupt judge granted the dismissal. I could have appealed and likely would have won but after three years and over $100k spent I couldn't continue. It's all because my attorney didn't plan ahead and submit evidence on time. They refused to admit any responsibility or even offer an apology for their error causing the case to fail. As a result I lost several hundred thousand dollars that I would have won with competent representation. Plus I found out that I paid double the amount the other side paid and their representation was much better. I also had issues throughout with questionable billing such as emails that took a minute to read being charged a full hour. All they care about here is how much they can squeeze out of their clients. read more
