    Brunch menu

Five stars Sunday brunch!! This place was my favorite breakfast in Prague. And the expectations were very high! It offers brunch deals for $365 korunas including: - 1 glass of sparkling wine - orange or grapefruit juice - choice of omelette, scramble eggs or Benedict - basket of bread with homemade jams (incredible taste) - homemade pie - choice of coffee, tea or hot coco (winner) Service is good, outdoor sitting is great for a sunny day and the food is outstanding. If you are not feeling like eating eggs this morning no worries! They have assortment of choices such as fruit, fresh baked croissants, crepes, blinis and more. With no doubts I wish this could be my go-to place every Sunday. Thank you cafe almandine!! We will be back :)

If you are in love with Paris like I am this is a no brainer. Walk in here and you feel like you have been teleported to Paris in an instant. The interior screams classy and sophisticated. Servers are quite nice and friendly, but do not speak english so come prepared if you do not speak czech! Here I had a delicious cafe latte, a vanilla eclaire, also delicious and a hot apple cider. Everything was with the freshest ingredients and the pastries were all homemade. Very impressive since there is a wide range of them available, made fresh daily. They do have a breakfast/lunch menu consisting of the typical french panini sandwichs, a soup or two, a few salads and that is about it. I am hesitant to give 5 stars because I am not super impressed by or happy with the menu here. That does not mean that this is not a great place though! I just can't way it is the best of the best for eating real food. Surely not a place for a proper meal or dinner, just light lunch or snacks. Either way I really loved this place from the inside out, and can say for sure I will be back for more homemade pastries!

I liked this place a lot, even though they didn't have a sandwich I wanted and one that I got was not what I expected :) still, the lemonades there are just awesome. They are in carafes and with small cuts of various fruits. Taste is very good and refreshing! Atmosphere of the place is very French)) comfortable chairs, sofas, and everything is kind of Art Nouveau :) I would recommend this place for coffee/tea or drinks only. Do not expect to have a proper dinner here, only if you are not a fan of French cuisine.

Quite nice atmosphere here, very French. Beware they close at 10 pm, but stop serving food at 9. Maybe that's a European thing? Anyways, the lemon crepes were delish, as was the cheese plate. Croque Monsieur was the best I'd ever had, hands down. Service was a little slow, but could be my American expectations. Good food. Good prices. Can't go wrong.

Excellent place for a long Sunday breakfast. There are many drink options and pastries on display but we opted for full breakfast. There are about six types each consisting of coffee/tea, fresh juice and number of pastries or egg dishes. Just perfect to sit, talk and enjoy tasty morning food.

A very charming place to have desserts and coffee. They have a huge sweets selection beautifully displayed, making it hard to choose just one. I was there for one of the last days of lavender festival. I had an amazing lavender lemonade. They also had lavender cookies on offer, but I didn't try them. Their sandwiches are always reliable. I had the croque monsieur and my friend ordered a tasty looking roast beef sandwich. Minus one star for painfully slow service and prices which are a bit high.

Poor service and food. More of a gimmick then true substance and quality which is a shame because the place looks nice and the food looks great. But just feels and taste like a sham. Don't order the smoothies, they're just juice and crushed ice.

It is indeed in a touristy area, but after having walked a few dozen miles in Prague already, on the last night, close proximity and convenience trumps everything else. We made a reservation online and when we arrived we were promptly led to a table in white tablecloth right next to the window in the dining room. For appetizer, we shared a dozen SNAILS - yes, in Prague, even in a French restaurant, they call them snails, not escargots. In fact, Central Europeans had a long tradition of eating snails even before the French made this delicacy famous. The escargots, ok..., snails, were cooked in rich garlic butter mixed with parsley (that's what the green stuff is just in case you are wondering.) They were delicious, and almost as good as those from the streets of Paris. The CHATEAUBRIAND was brought to us on a carving board together with bone marrow, side dishes of vegetables and mashed potatoes, and a sauce boat full of yummy peppery gravy. Our server carved the beef nicely and plated the dishes meticulously at our table side. The beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender and very flavorful. We could easily tell this was top quality filet mignon and nothing less than the best cut. For the side dishes, I particularly liked the mashed potatoes which tasted like they were made with fresh and naturally creamy potatoes. The peppercorn sauce was rich but not overwhelming, subtly complementing the natural flavor of the steak. Service was 5-star throughout our meal. It began with a complimentary "water melon with bacon" palate cleanser, and ended with complimentary house-made chocolate at the conclusion of our meal. Service was attentive, friendly, prompt but not rushed, and literally white-glove throughout the night. You want me to give you a reason for visiting Brasserie La Gare, or Prague in general? This meal, including two large beers and two glasses of reasonably good wine, cost less than CZK 2,000 which is about US$90. Wanna go?

At first we were thrilled with our server's recommendations and excellent attention, as well as with the cocktails, food, and gorgeous ambiance. The problem occurred toward the end of the evening. Our server cleared our dishes and asked if we were interested in dessert. We said we would be happy to consider the choices. He left us and got busy with another party, which we understood, so waited for about 20 minutes. One of his colleagues passed by and we mentioned that we were waiting. We saw her tell our server, who still did not make time to check in with us. After waiting even longer, one member of our party--originally from England, which becomes important later--got up, found the server, and asked if we could get the dessert menu. Finally he came to our table. He did not apologize for the wait (all he needed to say was that he had gotten swamped, and we would have been fine with that small explanation). Instead, he said, "The hardest part is waiting," mentioned there is no actual dessert menu, then left and came back with a board showing us some of the desserts, explaining what they were. He was obviously irritated with us and so we opted to end the evening and asked for the check. He brought it quickly and pointedly explained that we could tip him. We were uninterested in rewarding his rudeness and did not tip him. Then he insultingly said to our English friend, who was paying: "I didn't think you had an American accent." This was so unprofessional. We go out of our way to be gracious when we travel, not wanting to be seen as "ugly Americans." We tip almost everyone and generously. Your server's increasing rudeness and growing irritation with us was completely uncalled for, and we are so disappointed to have this memory of an otherwise wonderful few days in your beautiful city.

We started w an Amuse bouche of a silky smooth mousse of cucumber and mint in the most elegant shot glass shaped like a globe. Our appetizers were a beef cheek tortellini in an amazing sauce. The other app was scallops on a sea of foam and island of sugar snap peas. Mains continued to amaze w veal and sides done perfectly. Dover sole was rolled and covered in lentils and creamy potato on the bottom. Between main and dessert we had a sorbet In The requisite liquid nitrogen. Desserts were impressive w a deconstructed chocolate eclair - homemade puff pastry need I say more - and a Valrhona chocolate cake w popcorn and a dollop of ice cream. Service is as it should be - helpful, understated, informed and well timed. I can not stand to be condescended to for another meal by waitstaff who feel I should be grateful for their time. Bellevue has professional, courteous staff thank goodness. This restaurant is famous and attracts all types. Witness young girl w her grandparents wearing a t shirt and short shorts for dinner. If you were planning to visit that spot on your visit, you could pair it with a lunch here. Not too close to Old Town, which was also nice. Classy and polished - the way to describe the decor, the staff and the overall vibe. Tasting menu - definitely go for it. We were able to make some simple substitutions without any issues, which I did appreciate as I chose two apps and no dessert. All the dishes were incredibly light and flavorful, as you might expect. Definitely a pricey lunch, but absolutely worth it - would definitely recommend and would return.

We were charged for a bread basket that we did not request which should always be complementary anyway in a fine dining experience. My daughter specifically told the waiter that she doesn't drink alcohol so she ordered what she thought was a peach mocktail, based on the server's subsequent recommendation. Shortly afterwards, the waiter brought her an alcoholic cocktail. She said she couldn't drink it and sent it back re-explaining her situation of no alcohol. The waiter made a big deal over it, all the while smiling, and glancing at his coworkers for support. Grudgingly, he took the drink away and she was charged for the entire drink and was left with only a quarter can of Red Bull, (part of the drink) which was what was left after the original incorrect drink. Our waiter was argumentative and arrogant rather than service- oriented. This should never be anyone's experience in a fine dining restaurant. We ordered salads, seared deer, and mountain sheep. Everything was delicious.
