It is very modern inside compared to most of the restaurants we visited. You can get steaks, veal, seafood or you can get them in a hanging skewer with a coup,e different meats. We got the beef and sausage skewer and the salmon, tuna, halibut skewer. Each came with a salad bar and boiled veggies came with the seafood skewer. The 3 of us shared 2 skewers ( plenty of food) and they said we could each have a salad bar. We also ordered the vegetable rice, bottle of wine, 2 beers and 2 desserts-lime cheesecake and a chocolate pie. Our bill was 53€!!!! The place was very full-we arrived around 9p and they close at 10. Very nice option especially if you want to try something other than the typical grilled fish.

Then we got treated like second class citizens and ignored for 20 mins without water and without anyone taking our oder. Eventually I began asking anyone who passed by to at least give us water and take our order. I even asked the homeless guy and his dog if we could get food. Eventually someone took pity on us paying customers and came with water and they found the one waiter who would be able to help us. We ordered steak and wine and seafood and said ok the night can get better. We cheer up and go with the flow. Doing our best to stay positive on vacation. Our food arrives bleeding and under-cooked (no one asked us how any of the meat should be done), so we waited and no one came. We were thinking we could maybe send it back to be medium or medium well but nope. At that point we were so cold and hungry that I sold my dignity and went back inside to ask again for one of the many empty tables indoors and said they are being held for reservations. They said they couldn't oblige so we ate cold bleeding steak and undercooked food and asked for our check the check that came 30mins later too. Absolutely horrid experience. We took the undercooked bleeding steaks to go and will cook them at our airbnb to revive some faith in humanity. Horrible experience, your mileage may vary but I doubt it. Steer clear. Even the hole in the wall places were nicer, friendlier, faster, cheaper and more considerate.

This spot was decorated with wines on all the walls and a white table cloth feel. We got sat right away and they had menus in English and Portuguese. We started off with some bread butter olives and cheese for the table. Loved the different types of breads in the breadbasket as well as the variety of olives. The cheese was also fresh and creamy and a perfect combination with the bread. We opted for a bottle of verde wine and we got the gambas al ajillo and the fish for two. The gambas came out right away and they were delicious and with a hint of lemon they were a must. The fish for two was fantastic, it was served table side and the sauce that it came in was delicious. Great spot for authentic food and easy to accommodate a group.

Sadly, rhe one item we really wanted Lulas ( Grilled Squid) Rechadas was off the menu. We realized the menu in Portugués versus rhe English menu did not have the daily specials. So with the help of Google translator, i was able to figure out the menu. Our waiter could not take the order, so another waiter came by to assist, i dont soeak portuguese. Nevertheless, order was placed and the food cane out within 15 minutes. Our favorite dish was the grilled dorado fish, nice grilled-charred flavor, served with boiled potatoes and some steam carrots and broco. The beef tongue is melt on your mouth, tender, slice thin tongue beef. The brown sauce add a nice level of seasoning but it does not mask the beefy flavor of the beef tongue with just enough fat in the meat to induce the palate, the french fries for some reason were not as crispy as the fried we are accustomed in the USA. But I noticed the same when were in Greec, we actually had to ask for extra crispy fried- well that will have to be next time. The Garlic shrimp was good but it did not take me flavortown, felt like it could have used more garlic. By the way the Garlic shrimp was more like a tapas size serving, we also order some bread and butter. Unlike in the USA, here you have to pay for bread and butter, which is cant get used to it. The bread was rustic, crusty and cut into small pieces. We did not have dessert because we wanted nata from a store nearby. We. Oticed they haf roasted Pernil with mashed potatoes but that seemed heavy even if we shared it but it did looked very good, as the people next to is ordered it. The house wine was just ok, nothing great but a glass of red with lunch is a good option. We finished lunch with expreso shot. Great service, very clean bathrooms and nice upscale ambiance. Came here because someone recommended it as good local spot. Always check the daily menu. Simple preparation for sll the items but done well

We wanted Portugese food at a "nice, semi-formal sit down place". Gambrinus looked to tick all the marks - we walked there and found the place quickly - very charming storefront. You walk in past the bar room which is very quaint and semi-supperclub formal. We got to the maî·tre and were seated in the very charming formal dining room. There is a reserved elegance of this place that makes it feel as if it's been there for 50 or 100 years - wonderful classic decor. The staff are all in formal attire - striking all the vibes of a late 1950's American SupperClub in Portugal. And to our glee - this is indeed what this place is! We were served our starter drinks while we reviewed the menu options; our "formal, main waiter" who is in the most formal attire walked us patiently through the options (we are new to Portugese food) and he made a number of excellent suggestions. Our starter course arrived, shrimp flambe, which was made table side and served - hinted at what was to come. We were amazed at the showmanship of the staff - very formal but friendly and in a way comical. As we awaited the mains, a table near us ordered something also flambe'd crêpes. But it was the SHOW that was special. They brought out the cooking stuff, and the waiter arrived and put on a literal magic show - acting like he had the fire in his hands - he would release the flames into the crêpes and then capture them back in his hand and the flames were gone. The table that ordered them were delighed, and we also enjoyed the show. Our main order did not disappont and hit all the marks. We had an after dinner desert and drinks, then a coffee. The price is not inexpensive; the food and entertainment makes this place five stars. If you are in Lisbon and want to have a "formal" feeling dinner that is classic and entertaining - go here for sure. It's delightful, fun, and worth every penny!

The entrance is inconspicuous, red door no flashy menus posted outside or a person trying to get you to come inside like all the other places on the street - that feels like South beach Miami. The service was impeccable. The food was good but not spectacular but we were all satisfied. Lots of fish options like oysters, fish rice, fish stews as well as pork chops and steak. The price was more than we have usually been paying around town, almost double but I was kinda expecting that when we walked in. If you want a nice quiet classy sit down place with great service away from the chaos happening outside then this is the place.

First let's talk location, it's near the Hotel Roma where we stayed so that was great. Next, prices are reasonable for the quality food you get. Last, service is slow but I hear that is standard in the area. Also, I'd like to mention our waiter was very courteous and helpful explaining the menu items to us. We shared Paella which was delicious, and my son ordered the Portuguese steak which he did not care for. We were unsure what to expect and it was a steak beneath ham, olives, eggs, and potatoes. A traditional style steak to the area. I also had a vegetable soup which was tasty and hearty. Over all the experience was good. I loved the appetizers, not pictured because they got eaten up so fast!
