Another oddity is that a beer was cheeper than water or coffee. Our waiter spoke English and there was an English menu. Service was prompt, pleasant and professional.

The churros were our second favourite in Madrid. They weren't hot out of the frier but they were crispy and addictive. The tomato toast was a pass - nothing amazing and didn't have enough garlic. The croquettes came out piping hot. Nice and crispy. The potato omelet was also served cold but it went really well with the bread. I would imagine it was very delicious if it was hot. I would come back to try the other things on the menu as their menu is so big. They have lots of things that you could enjoy as snacks. A lot of locals come here and not a lot of tourists which is nice.

We don't (unfortunately) speak any Spanish but the staff were all lovely and accommodating anyway :) We ordered a burger and coffee each, and a plate of churros to share, which all came in at under €5 each and were absolutely delicious! This place is classic Spain, or rather classic Madrid: dark wooden interior with a raised bar manned by well-dressed bartenders, clientele a socioeconomic mix, united by proximity, beer slung beside vermuth and all your traditional cured meat plates and some seafood with the "cecina" standing out as the heavy hitter. We always end up spending more money here than we mean to. One more plate of cecina, another round of vermuth, another hour soaking in the setting, tossed on the waves of conversation. That's Spain for me, and in that undertow it's hard to escape with your bank account intact. It's not that Casa Gerardo is an expensive place by any means; it's that the place foments prolonged social engagements so characteristic of its host culture. Having a good time costs money! TL;DR Casa Gerardo is a must-see if you want to be immersed in a typically Madrileño experience.

My friends and I spent a pretty decent amount of time in here. You could say that time flies when you're having fun! There are servers in which help take your order. It is not a place to come hungry and it's more so to come and grab a little snack with your friends. There is wifi in the building and once it came time to pay, the did accept credit cards. Although, I would like to say that their batidos (Milkshakes) are bomb and pretty well worth the price they are at. I ordered one that is called after eight, and if you are a fan of mint chocolate then you should try it out! I shared a slice of cheesecake with a friend, and it was a little too bland for my taste (Mind you i'm a big fan of cheesecake) and would have preferred to have gotten something else. With the orders came a little plate of trail mix. If you are looking for something more on the adventurous side there is a coffee that contains ice cream! (A double winner if you ask me) Overall, it was a great place to spend some time with friends, and I will recommend it to those who want to have a game night outside of their home!
