A friend recommended we link up here. I've been to many places in Madrid. La Rollerie was new for me. It's a nice place for brunch, desserts or coffee. It's close to the center of town. Therefore, it's relatively easy to get to. It's not very easy to order. You can't order from the table bar code menu. The server must take your order. If it's busy, you might wait a while. The food was very fresh and tasty. We ordered the healthy bowl which is a yogurt bowl with fresh fruit and granola. It comes out as expected. Appealing to the eye and a fairly hefty portion, but not so much that it's overwhelming. The cinnamon roll comes with 2 sauces and 2 toppings. We got the kinder and classic sauce and coconut and Oreos. This place is known for their cinnamon rolls and I see why. They are fluffy and light, but sweet and fresh. Although delectable, I would recommend trying them. My husband ordered the shukshuka and it was very very good. Once I tried his I wished I had ordered that too. The decorations are cute and a modern fairy tale. And the service was warm, but quite slow. read more

Another BINGO! A little bit of Paris in Madrid, LA Rollerie is beautiful. So charming and upscale, LA Rollerie has brunch and lunch (not sure about dinner), pastries and Gelato. The tuna sandwich with avocado on multigrain toasted baguette was delish as was the pulled pork in the same. The downstairs bathrooms were situated in what looked like an outdoor parishad cafe. Such a cute bakery/dining place in Madrid! We went there twice during our 5 night stay. It became our go-to spot for good food without any surprises/risks and service that was better than average. The server was very polite, which I appreciated after a few interesting encounters in Spain. The place itself is adorable. There's even a tree inside (not sure if it's real), and I could easily picture myself sitting there for hours enjoying their pastries if I were a local. It does get pretty busy after a while, though. One thing to note - if you plan to go right at 8:00 when they're supposed to open, you might be disappointed. Give them and yourself a little extra time and aim for around 8:15 instead. We arrived at 8 and had to wait a bit for them to open the door. I guess that's part of the charm of traveling and experiencing different cultures. I'd definitely go back if I ever return to Madrid. read more

Decor and menu feel a little French too, a fusion. One day I had the Benedictine with thinly sliced ham and hollandaise with perfectly poached eggs on brioche. Next a grilled croissant with butter and peach jam. Cafe con leche both. Service is by team and very friendly. Decor is bright and cheery a perfect place to gather energy or meditate on the day. I saw this cafe when walking to the main part of the city from my hotel. My family decides to try it out, and let me tell you walking in here was one of the best decisions of our vacation. First of all, the interior of the restaurant is so cute. It's an instagram food-blogger's dream. They have a white with wood and greenery theme, creating a very relaxing and chic environment. Second, the food was absolutely AMAZING!! I had the pesto sandwich and a cinnamon roll, and that sandwich is the best sandwich I have tasted in this earth. I had to fight my family to even eat half of it. The fries that came with it were unique and very well seasoned. We also tried the avacado Toast, and red beet juice, which were amazing too. My choice was the "Creole breakfast", essentially a big cheese filled empanada served with fresh OJ and a delicious cafe con leche. Again, any place that can this girl to drink coffee gets my seal of approval. Anyway, my empanada was delicious - a lot of that had to do with the green salsa it came with. To me it tasted like something between guacamole and tomatillo salsa - creamy, a little tart but full of flavor. La Rollerie is a nice casual place - you order at the counter and they'll bring out your food. Plenty of seating, so it would be a nice place to hang out, eat a thing, sip some coffee and maybe get some work done. read more

A great spot to stop and recharge. We had coffees and a pastry, about €5. The pecan roll tasted just like pecan pie, delicious and flaky! The coffee was good. We sat upstairs, a whole extra space to take you out of the city for a few minutes. They have menus in Spanish and English. read more

This small chain restaurant is gorgeous, clean, and air conditioning. They have a regular food and desserts, we just stuck with the later. The Churros con Chocolate was significantly better than my last one, with fresher and crunchier churros with a richer chocolate sauce. Nice place to chill between The Prado and Puerte del Sol. Most of the staff was very friendly, except our waiter, he either didn't have a personality or just didn't care. Regardless, he made the difference between a 4 Star and 5 Star. Stumbled upon this place on a little side street. The atmosphere was so nice and relaxing. The decor was so cute it looked like it was straight from a magazine. We had the chicken Caesar salad, which the chicken was amazing, I would recommend it. We also had the asparagus and mushroom flatbread with rocket on top. It was also amazing, the bread at this place is fresh, crunchy bread. The staff was very helpful and quick. The restaurant was clean as well. We didn't have to wait for a table either. Such a cute and delicious place for breakfast! This place is just steps away from The Gran Via and super close to many hotels. My family and I had breakfast here on two occasions. The food was great and reasonably priced and the staff was very friendly. A huge plus is that they open at 8:00AM which is considered early for Madrid. This Spanish restaurant chain would do great in the states. Located just a block from our hotel, we went here every day for breakfast. The dining room is very open and nice and waitstaff is pleasant. They have multiple plates to choose from, and they all included coffee and juice. My recommendation: the avocado toast, which comes on multigrain bread with soft cheese, chia seeds and spicy sauce. Yum. If you're in Central Madrid and you need a non-touristy, sit-down restaurant for breakfast/brunch, this is a great choice. Take out or sit down. It is not pricey, either. read more
