Someone recommended this place to us, and I'm so glad they did. A Russian restaurant wouldn't normally be my first choice, especially not for breakfast. My dining companion and I both ordered vegetarian breakfast samplers (nice that there were multiple options) and everything was terrific. The food was fresh and light but very flavorful. The ambiance was nice. We came when hardly anyone else was in the restaurant and had the whole back room to ourselves. The interior was very warm and cozy. It was the perfect way to start the day in Berlin and turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. read more

While visiting Berlin we had both breakfast and dinner at Cafe Datscha Mitte and enjoyed every meal. It's Eastern European style is both unique and delicious. Really fresh and healthy food with friendly staff. Definitely will go back next time I am in Berlin! read more

Two for waiting 25 minutes to order anything. Food was a solid 4+. So made it a 4. Seemed like the service got better after about 8:30 as they added three servers to the one that was there at 8:10 when we arrived. Would go back for sure. read more

I keep coming back. I am mostly vegetarian. The vegetarian Wareniki section doesn't fail. It is more of what to eat when, because all of them are worth it. I specially love the Wareniki "Moskwa" on a rainy day. Hearty and warm and cheesy and mushroom gravy-ish feel. Yum! I also love the walnut sauce on the Wareniki "Brynsa". And the Hatschipuri is always tempting. ** I wouldn't order the mix as it is nice to indulge with each type fully with its sauce and garnishes ** Golubzi, cabbage rolls filled with buckwheat in a yummy fresh tomato sauce, is also worth the try. Okay restaurant, but not authentic russian. Everything on the menu is "russian", but the taste did not match. The Mors did not taste like Mors at all, and the Borscht wasn't the best, a little too sweet. I have to say the Olivye was delicious. Not the greatest service either, not terrible, but not excellent. We sat down outside a few weeks ago on a steamy day only to have a burst of rainshower chase us inside. I am so glad it did. The area on the left is more of the restaurant side with the right bar side holding USSR gems. Posters, memorabilia - it was a really cool quirky setting. We had a Russian beer, Moskwa, and it came in a bad-ass glass. We asked how much the glasses were, but 6.50 was a little spendy. The beer itself was serviceable and added to the experience, but nothing that special. We ordered two of the more pricey lunch options at 9-12ish euro and they were presented beautifully - Beef Stroganov & dumplings. The dumplings had a variety of fillings (I liked the spinach & chicken best ), but a huge plate of them got a little one note. The stroganov was exceptionally meaty goodness with a nice little green salad. Some of the meals came with a shot of vodka - almost wish we'd gotten crazy with it. I heard they are known for their breakfasts (ah! Berlin brunch) & will have to check it out. read more

This is really the WORST dining experience I have ever had! This place should be avoided at all costs. Unbelievably unfriendly and downright dangerous. The waiting staff were curt and discourteous from the beginning however it was when we ordered the food that the real problems started. I was there with a friend and we ordered the mixed starter plate, fully aware that there was fish contained. Now, I have an allergy to fish, she loves fish, so I asked if it would be possible to have the dishes separate. I do this all the time, and if it is an issue, we just order something else. Simple. The waitress told me that everything came in separate bowls and this would not be an issue. When the starter came we again asked specifically which contained fish. She assured us that there was only one and pointed it out. Next thing I knew, I had a mouthful of fish, a burning tongue, sweats and a very sore throat. Now, my allergy is not bad, however this could have been really serious for someone with a worse allergy. When we pulled her up on her mistake, she simply shrugged her shoulders and said, "oh yeah, that has tuna" She became very aggressive and blamed us for ordering something with fish. I have worked in restaurants and the very least that is expected is a reasonable knowledge of the menu. At the very least, if you hear that someone has an allergy and you are not sure, simple common sense would be to make sure or tell them that it was not possible to tell which dishes contained fish and which not. The mistake aside, it was the simple lack of common courtesy which turned into downright rudeness displayed by both the waitress and then her workmate that was just unacceptable. This took place on the 18th of October 2016, if a manager or owner of this restaurant reads this, I would really recommend taking some serious action towards your staff working this evening. They do your restaurant a serious disservice. read more

Our AirBnB host recommended this part of town to us shortly after we had arrived (late at night). She mentioned that this is a part of town for the locals; a hustling and bustling intersection with many great restaurants that open late. It was only a short tram ride away and it was definitely very lively with streets lined with restaurants and patios. We picked this place because it was one of the few that had a free table outside. I have not been an avid diner of Russian cuisine back home though I think the cuisine is good albeit a little too meaty at times. Gorki Park was excellent to say the least, better than any of the Russian meals I've had in Canada but one would only expect it due to the closer proximity to Mother Russia. We had the chicken stew and it was excellent; tender, juicy, aromatic chicken bathed in that sultry and satisfying sauce. We also ordered dumplings and it too was fantastic. The filling is deliciously fresh and the wrapper is perfectly tender with just a bit of chew. The borscht too was one of the best I've ever tasted with layers and layers of flavour in that rich broth. Highly recommended. read more

A very nice brunch/breakfast place. I wouldn't call it purely Russian - but it's for the better :) We tried a breakfast for two - Arbeiterinnen und Bauern, a perfect combi of omellete, fruit, pancakes, salmon and lots more. Everything was excellent and exactly enough for two people, not too little and not too much. Prices are affordable, especially for the top location directly on Rosenthaler Platz. Service - okaaay, that's def a weak spot. Arrogant, if not insolent. Still, i'd go again, the food is worth it. read more

I like this place and I recommend it. Their menu is pretty international. Mostly feels like Sowjet Union kitchen! You can find items from Russian, Asian and Georgian cuisine. The atmosphere inside is also pretty charming. Especially that wall papers, so old sowjet style! In warm night it's awesome to enjoy a cool "kvas" (delicious drink) there :) The prises might feel a bit high but taking all into consideration I would say it worth it. Cheers! read more

Great brunch spot with charming interior and great food!

I was pleasantly surprised by Gorki Park. I'm normally skeptical of any Russian food made outside of my family's kitchen, so I wasn't expecting too much when we walked in here after a long day of walking around Berlin. An order of chicken pelmeni and potato vareniki later, I gave Gorki's food my seal of approval. Service was timely and friendly, even more so after I spoke Russian with the servers. The only thing to watch out for might be the drinks. My boyfriend ordered a Berlinerkindl, he was asked if he wanted red or green. Not really understanding what was going on, he ordered red and received what looked to be some kind of bright red variation of a Radler. I guess the lesson is: read the menu. I still have no idea what he was in that mug. read more

I think this is a really cute cafe/restaurant. I had a small breakfast and the food was delicious and the presentation was pretty. The vibe is very cosy and nice and, even though I didn't eat it, I think with it's russian food Görki Park is a great place to go to eat in the cold weather we have now. The tea mugs are really pretty and if you sit in the non-smoking section it actually doesn't smell like smoke (something you learn to appreciate when living in berlin). Görki Park actually a pretty big, but because it's spread over 4 rooms it doesn't feel that way and also makes it a great option if you're going with a large group, as you can just get one of the rooms. read more

I've been here a few times over the summer. The Soviet decor is funny without being tacky, and it's a great spot to people-watch. The drinks are always good, too. The only food I've had here was the borscht soup, which was delicious. I'd like to try it again before I leave. read more

Cafe/restaurant (light Russian fare and panekuchen) that as of 21.01.08 is allowing smoking in a separate room which nonetheless has windows facing the street, as well as (at times, apparently) a connected, elevated back room. Pleasant staff, nice vibe about the place. Based on the laptops I saw, I assume wifi is available. I only stopped for coffee and a smoke sheltered from the rain, so can't comment on the menu. 1 minute walk from U8-Rosenthal Platz and the tram (M1, I think). read more

To say that the food is the best you can get is not exactly true, although it is quite tasty. What I really enjoyed was the layout of the restaurant. Each room that you walk through has its own color-design theme, of sorts. We sat in the bar area, which was dark (but not too dark) and playing great music. (from last fall) The reasoning behind the four-star rating: Zero stars for service and eight stars for breakfast averages out to four stars. Kinda. Gorki, gorki, gorki what is happening to you? You're like a heroin rush or something. The first time is the best, and nothing you do subsequently can ever measure up. The funny thing was, this time, the service was a lot friendlier (by a lot friendlier I mean of course, not outwardly hostile) but still inattentive, and the food was a very, very poor rendition of what it was when we got hooked. I have had several wonderful breakfasts there but the last couple of times we were there it had been getting poorer and poorer, and this time it was so poor that I will probably not be going back. Portions all very small and kind of cheap, eggs watery, the rolled-up crêpe thingies I used to adore now not even filled with anything. In the vegetarian breakfast you get a spinach one and a cream-cheese one and in each it looked like the cook had sort of waved a bit the intended filling in the general vicinity of the crepe and when it was approximately the right color decided it was finished. Tasted like nothing. Very disappointing as that used to be my favorite part of the meal. When we were done with our meal we were not asked if we wanted anything else, the server came and took away the dishes and disappeared for what seemed an age; we were there for quite a while with neither a drink/food nor a bill in front of us, and no one came by. Poor gorki, it was nice knowing you, maybe I'll try you again in a year or so when I don't mind wasting the money. read more

Went here for brunch one Saturday (I mistakenly thought the brunch buffet was both saturday and sunday but no matter). the interior is really stylish, lots of great furniture pieces, lamps, wood paneling and funky wallpaper, a real package deal, you feel like you're in some sort of strange hunting lodge but for stylish people. the breakfast was wonderful, really filling and super tasty. the bialys were delicious, nice and soft and warm, with plenty of sour cream and compote to stuff in there. i don't know how it is as a bar, but for breakfast it can't be beat. definitely one for a return visit. read more

Food is always good but the service is always understaffed. Even when the restaurant is completely full there is only one waiter and one bartender. So this can be quiet annoying as you wait long for your drinks and food. So you need to bring some patience with you. But since the food is good I do return every now and then and try to avoid the peak hours. read more
