    The French Burger.
    Jonathan G.

This is just an amazing restaurant / cafe. A perfect place to spend the afternoon, so if you are American get ready to sit still and enjoy your time. This restaurant is not about speed but quality. The price is right for the amount of food you get. In US dollars, I spent about $19 for an amazing burger with french cheese, 2 large slices of bacon, a crispy hash brown patty on top, and it came with a side order of Cajun French Fries. And of course I had to pay for two bottles of water. Now that's not a bad deal for the amount of food you get. The burger was very large and flavorful. This was not some showoff burger but a delicious one. I highly recommend cutting it in half before you dislocate your jaw trying to take a first bite. The bun was soft and didn't over shadow the burger. I have never had a hashbrown in my burger before but it was an interesting experience and I would do it again...I would just have to make sure I come on an empty stomach. This is a must try burger, if only I can remember the name of it. The good part is you can see my image of it and show it to your waiter or waitress. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing and classy. It feels upscale but relaxed enough to bring a child or two. I went on a Sunday with some friends, during their brunch buffet which looked simple, light, and clean. It came with your basic American type breakfast items like scrambled eggs and bacon, but they also had some fancy items like mozzarella with sliced tomatoes assorted cheeses and bread. I didn't have the buffet because I arrived as it was ending but they had a lot of items on the brunch bar. As I mentioned in the beginning this place is not about speed, so if you want your food in a hurry I would look somewhere else. This is a perfect place to spend your Sunday morning, afternoon, or have a dinner date. You can eat at the bar, a table top, tall tables with stools near the bar, or along the walls in booths which look like comfortable couches. The service was friendly and relaxed and our waitress spoke english clearly, which made ordering food simple because she also brought us an english menu. So this place gets a five star from me because of the five star service and food you receive. You can't go wrong with this place if you're in K-town and you want to have a relaxing time with some friends or by yourself.

This is our go-to restaurant when we don't want to cook dinner, as we live not far from here. The ambience is wonderful. When you walk in, greet the waiters, and then they'll tell you (in German) to sit wherever you like. We've had a couple different waiters by now. As a rule, most Germans speak at least limited English, as they learn it in school. If you see a younger-looking German (under 30), you can bet they are fluent. Watch out for Reserviert signs on tables, as these are taken. There is a separate smoking section in the far back of the restaurant. The second bar is in this section as well. If you don't like smoke at all, I would sit in the first area when you walk in. The wine and beer are both delicious. We've tried the Dunkel, Hefe, Riesling Trocken, and I think some red (Rot) as well. Wonderful! The pours are generous and the prices cheap. The food is also delectable. The pizza is AWESOME! They provide flavored olive oil and it is topped with arugula (Rucola). They also have a local specialty every night/week written in chalk all over the restaurant. One week it was a Pfalz bratwurst dish. I had one of the traditional Pfalz meat-salad dishes (beef "salat" cubed served cold with vinegar), and it was very good. The salads in general are very good and very large (some come in small and large sizes). They also serve coffees and gelato. Glocken Café is a wonderful little spotted tucked away in a quieter area, just a couple blocks off the walkplatz. The regulars are all locals from the walking area. The place is delightfully loud, with groups of older Germans animatedly catching up with friends. We love it, and I know you will, too.
