We've been meaning to pop by and eat here every time we visit Bromley as we've heard good things…read moreand it always looks busy. Yeah..... now we know why it looks busy. The service was soooooo slow. I booked a table and it took a few moment to be acknowledged. Staff were just pottering about and not even dealing with customers. Once acknowledged we were eventually led to our table. Took ages to get an allergen menu (their Ipad) then it took ages for someone to even take a drink order. Once we decided what to have (Not much choice for gluten free!) Order was taken and we waited.... Food wasn't too bad when it arrived but I'm glad I ordered a side as my main was a little on the small side! Milkshakes were tasting watery and tea was tasteless...... even if they did use a Yorkshire Tea teabag! For a lunchtime they had enough servers a few empty tables but lots of gaps in dealing with customers. Not the greatest of experiences, pricey for the food (quality wasn't great!) and service slow. We won't be back in a hurry!

One of the better Shopping Centre dining experiences…read more Joe's Kitchen, the runty little sister of Frank & Benny and Garfunkel's restaurants is a refreshingly modern, clean and creative twist on the standard. The layout and menu remind me somewhat of Bill's restaurants. Big wooden tables and not too fussy. The Menu is transparent and has your staples: fish and chips, sandwiches, jacket potatoes and your all day breakfast. It's a little fresher and more contemporary than it's more famous counterparts. As with any restaurant in a shopping mall, it's quite overpriced for what it is. My fish finger sandwich, although pleasant and filled my hungover hole was average bread, cheap fish fingers and a bit of iceberg. For £6 without any garnish at all, I would say that's a tad steep. Still, what did surprise me were the chips. This may sound strange, but they really tasted like potato! Normally you get the standard, frozen chips with a real starchy texture, but these 'skin on fat chips' tasted fresh and lovely. Overall, it's an amazing improvement to your average shopping break meal. It completely beats the competition in the area and was a very pleasant experience. PS. lovely coffee and the coke floats looked amazing.

A local yet lively "Frenchy" restaurant - with a nice wine list…read more Went there with a couple of my friends who live close by for a three course meal (shrimp 'orgy', beef fillet & crème brûlée - and a nice bottle of Chambertin) very attentive staff, delicious food but perhaps a but loud. All right pricing all things considered. Definitely a place to recommend for a un-posh night out where you desire a nicely meal.

Came here for Christmas Lunch with some local family friends, and this review is based on the set…read moremenu they offered to us for that occasion. Located in Beckenham, this restaurant is one a of a string of food and drink locales in the immediate area, a surprisingly dense amount for a suburb, and a nice, quaint part of town. We were a group of six, which prompted the restaurant to offer us the special menu. The catch was, we either all have to order it, or none of us gets it. This 'collective punishment' is not something I was used to -- before I moved to Britain, that is -- but we ended up browbeating any doubters and all going for the special menu. ..And in the end we weren't disappointed. The set menu was definitely not French, although it had some French influence; instead, it can be described as modern British fare, and it was shockingly good. There was the usual array of lamb and chicken dishes for this Christmas menu, but I opted for the salmon, which was grilled/baked precisely to the temperature to make it just the right moisture and texture. It came with a gratin (done properly) and some vegetables, and all of it disappeared quickly. Having sampled some of other people's dishes, I can say that the restaurant managed to put a lot of effort and detail into everything we were served. On that day, I can confidently say that if you flipped a coin and took one of their starter or main options at random, you would have been pleased. The service was also friendly, attentive, and our waitress sometimes hung around to chat briefly here and there or to laugh a bit with us, but without being overbearing. Basically, our experience was that this is what a Christmas lunch experience should be. I'd complain about the collective punishment aspect of the Christmas lunch menu (the whole table gets it or no one does), but -- well, in Rome (or England) ... This place is half-bar/pub, half-restaurant (separated by a big wall and doors luckily). I'm told the bar part gets busy.
