It does the job of a quick breakfast that isn't from a "builders' caf", and is one of very few options for that level of dining in the area. (The other option being Tram Stop down the road, which is slightly more modern - both in decor and in menu.)
I like that they have turkey bacon as an option for their breakfast sandwiches, and like the variety of breakfast options - full english (of course), smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, bagels, and lunch items as well. The coffee is good, not amazing. But good.
I recently came in for a quick lunch and was trying to be healthy, so opted for a salad (the grilled haloumi salad with olives and tomatoes) and the only smoothie option. Both were £4. The smoothie was described as having cucumber, celery, apple, lime juice and ginger. It didn't sound particularly tasty, but it was either that or soda (or water or coffee). I thought it must be one of those things that is surprisingly good.
It wasn't. It was shockingly terrible. So much so that I considered sending it back, but then thought, well it is tastes exactly like you would expect if you read the ingredients. It didn't help that they served it at room temperature. So I asked for ice and took my medicine. That's what you get for wanting to be healthy I guess.
On that note, the salad was fairly small (not an issue, as it's only £4) but the lettuce was chopped ice berg. Who still does that? Sigh.
Oh well, lesson learned - stick to breakfast and NO SMOOTHIES. read more
