I've only ever had an Americano here but the coffee is STRONG (if you like that sort of thing) and the food always looks delicious. Will need to come back to grab a bite! The one near Brighton station also has train times listed on a screen so you can have a coffee and not miss your train! Cool.

This is one of my go to spots because they always have a really yummy gluten free cake available, which seems to change up fairly frequently. I've also had breakfast here. It's just a good, cute all-around nice café. The staff have always been really nice and friendly. It can be a bit hard to predict a good time to go. I've been when it's really busy, and when it's just been myself and a friend to the whole top floor. It gets a nice breeze in the summer and with retro music playing it really is the perfect place to unwind after a bit of shopping.

I write this review as I'm currently sat in the Ship Street branch of Cafe Coho. This one is slightly busier than the cafe Coho by the train station as its in town. I ordered my usual, a soya flat white (extra hot!) and to my delight it was spot on. I was a little apprehensive about coming to Coho again after last time, my coffee was too weak and I had to ask for more espresso. This one was perfect, I'm glad I've given Coho another chance. I also had a naughty treat of a chocolate and hazelnut blonde... Sweet, delicious and chewy! Perfect with my flat white!

Love! I don't have anything negative to say which is rare. I only have suggestions maybe if they read this it will take them further? One: table numbers! I suggestion using table numbers instead of name or maybe both - it won't hurt to use colours as well whatever suits you .. Take a little bit of the rush off the employees :-) // two: leave me here corner. Put a corner for your costumers to put dirty plates and cups after they finish to leave room for the second order or the next costumer or in my case (get away from the eggs as much as possible). This is a hipster/ish area , I bet your costumer base will be down for it, and also it will take some work loads from your employees and people will be happy because of how tiny your tables are. Wish you all the best !! I'll visit them again for sure..

I would rather go to Marwood on the side of Coho, but Coho is a nice option. Just be careful with the seagulls if you stay outside.

The coffee is full of flavour and kick but creamy, so I unwittingly underestimated it and slurped down 2.

This is a humble independent cafe selling decent coffee and excellent home cooked food. The owner Elina hails from the Oseta region of south Russia and has brought some of the local cooking knowledge with her to breezy Brighton, and you can tell. The food is exquisite, cooked to perfection and the menu is packed with inventive recipes. Specials change regularly and there is plenty of choice on the regular menu. I recommend the Oseta's House, a delightful dish of scrambled egg with halloumi, tomato, and spinach... it really is to die for! Coffee is good (to this writer's taste buds anyway, but I'm no coffee aficionado) and there are plenty of other choices on the drinks menu. Honestly, if you haven't been here you need to get down immediately. Right now. Drop what you're doing this instant. You won't regret it.

I had the avocado and smoked salmon on sourdough the first time and the fennel sausage and lentil stew the second time. I also had a brilliant fresh lemon and ginger tea and the staff were brilliant - really chatty and friendly, but not invasive. It was the right balance between informal and professional and I really appreciated it. I even left with a slice of Guinness cake (which was to die for). I really love this little spot, and certainly will be back to try the meat and cheese dishes.

On this trip, in mid June 2025, we'd promised our American daughter a proper British "Cream Tea"…read more.. Somehow, we didn't expect to find it in Brighton, but this was the perfect place for it! After a long walk from Brighton Marina to the Pier, and a lot of shopping in The Lanes, we were ready for an Afternoon Tea! This Tea Shop is in the heart of "The Lanes", a picturesque location amidst brightly coloured shops, cafes and restaurants, in narrow, winding alleyways that make for a unique shopping area. It was lucky we went in at 4.30pm... They close at 5pm, but we were welcomed in as one of the last guests before they announced they were closed. It also meant we not only got a table, but the place started clearing out before we'd finished, so we ended up being the last customers, which was nice. It's a cute, cozy little tea shop, pretty on the outside and inside, with pictures of Brighton on the walls and an eclectic mixture of teapots, milk jugs and cups. It had been many years since I'd last had a "cream tea" and this didn't disappoint. We ordered some fruit scones and some plain scones (both were yummy but I recommend the fruit ones - the raisins & sultanas are really plump and juicy!). We also tried our scones both ways - cream then jam (the Devon way), and jam then cream (the Cornish way)... I'd been brought up the Devon way, but discovered the Cornish way is actually more to my liking! Both were yummy! We didn't buy any cakes, but the cakes (as well as the scones) are made fresh daily and looked delicious. And I must say, the tea itself was fresh and superior quality - loose leaf English breakfast, rather than bagged, really makes a difference. Our server was very sweet and friendly, and then, at the end, since we were the last customers, the shop owner came out to talk to us, and was super friendly and welcoming... She asked where we were from (always fun, as I'm British, but my husband and daughter are American). Despite it being the end of her day, she didn't rush us out at all, and enjoyed chatting with us. The whole thing was a delightful experience.

The place was packed on a super hot day in Brighton and the staff kept the place hopping. Enjoyed cucumber sandwiches and the most delicious scones and clotted cream. A true English tea house!
