The students living in the hall are very friendly and keen to help whoever's new. The bedroom has a reasonable size and all furniture is provided, and they are of good quality. There is a huge library and living room and plenty of space to study. Furthermore, if you are Catholic and want to practice your faith in the University this is the perfect place for you as the Catholic Church is literally 30 seconds away and students can easily get involved in the community. The location is also great, close to the University and beside Blackweir Fields if you want to take a break, do some exercise or just walk in the park. The students are catered and believe me, the food is great! You don't have to spend a single penny for having a delicious dinner. I highly recommend this place and if I were based in Cardiff I wouldn't think twice on my choice of where to live.

But you can still just about have a good night out here. Walkabout. Dear me. I'm really not sure what's supposed to be Australian about this franchise. I feel like they're giving the poor blighters a bad name. The only reason people enjoy this place is because they're so drunk when they arrive, that they've lost many of their mental faculties on the street outside. In my experience, Walkabout is the place where I've seen the most fights, the most drinks spilt over poor, unsuspecting girls in white dresses (suspicious) and the most pools of vomit. However, I will confess that it is also a place where I see efficient crowd control from the staff and exceptionally hardworking bar staff. The staff deal with the problem of this place well, maybe. But the fact remains that the problem is created in the first place. If you have any say in the choice of evening destination, perhaps give Walkabout a miss.

The downsides were: Demanding a swipe of your credit card before signing in even though my company pays. This is a pet hate of mine. The food, although very pretty, was expensive and tiny in the restaurant if you need to walk anywhere, which I did, there are no footpaths outside the hotel leading to the nearest major road. I had to walk in the road or on the wet grass, neither very satisfactory will dragging a wheelie case. The remote for the telly didn't turn it on, just off. The wifi in the room was almost non existent. Other than that fine :-)

The exact same thing happened with the wraps they offered, all put on one platter mixed in. I took tuna and couldnt eat and hubby took cheese and didnt eat as the menu cards said coronation chicken (im sure they were in there somewhere). They did have a young man standing behind the platters but he said nothing. All in all the food was ok for buffet food but needs to be better organised on the serving tables. Would have meant we would have had some food and not have wasted what we did have. I would eat there again no problem but only if I can see exactly what im eating as I hate to waste food. The food was delicious but both dishes came out lava hot and when you've got a starving child the last thing you want is to have to sit and wait while the food cools down. I also thought the hot kids meals were a little over priced but then it was kind of expected considering this was @bristol. Aiming for that (at least for most teachers) impossible goal of making learning fun, it certainly is a fun day out but I'm not sure if too much is learnt there. The exhibits are all interactive, you can pedal to generate power for a T.V. and lift a four foot diameter globe with a very long lever (this is some sort of reference to the ancient Greek mathematician Archimedes, for those that care). This means almost any kid will enjoy themselves here, and you'll see plenty of ten year olds hurtling between each thing, eager to try out everything. The staff are young and keen, and will earnestly explain the science that each exhibit is meant to teach you about. With lots of glass and primary colours it generally feels fresh, something most museums are nothing like. Go there if you've got curious kids to distract, or if you're just a bit of one yourself.
