One of the finest meals of my life on a cold winter night. Every Austrian city that relies on…read moretourism has a selection of various restaurants serving the same (nearly identical!) selection of traditional Austrian and Tyrolean favorites. You know the menu before you even see it. Anich is, in my opinion, the very best of them all. Be aware that the food is HEAVY and served in large portions. If you order one of the classic popular meat dishes (roast pork, schnitzel, goulash, etc) you should either be very hungry, prepared to share, or willing to ask for a takeout box. It's a ton of food and it's all stellar. I'm trying and failing to think of something we ordered there that was less than delicious and I can't. The service was not especially fast but I don't mark this kind of restaurant down for that because the meal is supposed to be a slow one. The local wine selection is excellent as is the beer. During a very crowded time you may be asked to share a large table with strangers or so we heard, but in my visits I never saw this happen. It was winter. Summer may be a different story. The building is lovely as are the several dining rooms. If you're looking for a light meal go elsewhere. If you want to be stuffed with dumplings, meat, gravy, and all that great stuff don't go elsewhere.

Food was very good, service was great and we were seated quickly without a reservation.read more

This was our first meal in Austria, we searched for a genuine restaurant where we could experience…read morea more authentic regional experience, not necessarily catered to the tourist crowds. Mildly jet lagged from a 10 hour flight & 2 hour drive, we found a place we could walk to, as we needed to stretch our legs. This place was hard to find, simply because Google maps was slightly off on how to get there, and the Yelp page had it listed as a hotel. In general, the online review world is much more limited in the Innsbruck area, so let's see if I can help that. Menu here: https://www.gasthaus-bretterkeller.at/speisekarte/ We stumbled into a smoky bar full of a few groups/family's having meals and the general feeling was overwhelmingly positive and happy. With our extremely limited German, and the waitresses limited English, we were able to navigate the menu and get a recommendation easy enough, and got our meal & drinks ordered. New to us, we asked about a bowl of breads/pretzels and were told we could pick and pay for what we wanted. Our meal was fantastic. Not light or the most healthy, but delicious nonetheless. Zwiebelrostbraten mit roestkartoffeln (Steak with Crispy Onions with roasted potatoes): The Steak with crispy onions & potato is apparently a pretty traditional dish, it was indeed a hearty and filling meal, the flavor was definitely great, the meat wasn't the leanest cut possible, but that's fine, to be expected. Steirischer Backhendlsalat mit Kernol (Fried chicken salad): The salad was very good too, fried chicken pieces over a green salad (over a potato salad). Once again, not light, but all tasted great. Not a huge place, but definitely felt like it could have been there for 100 years. The patio had a great view over the valley to the north, but it was a cooler evening so not many patrons out there. Only warning I give, as a visitor from another country, smoking indoors is still very common in Austria, so be prepared to walk into a smoky bar/restaurant/shop, otherwise we absolutely loved our meal here! Had we not wanted to try more places, we would definitely return again!

They asked if I could pay in cash because they were out of receipt paper. We explained we didn't need a receipt and they said they could try to run it. They then did, it went through, I saw it on their machine and I got an alert on my phone that I was charged. They said okay but came back and said it didn't I went back to look at my charges but was so flustered I didn't see it. I then asked where the ATM was and as I was walking there I double checked my account and then I saw the charge. I went back and showed them and they said okay. Normally, I would say this is just a fluke, however, 3 days prior I went to the Stiegl in Vienna and they also asked if I could pay with cash cause their machine was broken even though it seemed to work fine. My bill was 31.00 and it wouldn't go through then they said they needed to try and run it for 35, and it went through and they gave me 4 euros in cash. I find it odd that two different locations within a week had similar issues. When I have not had this issue anywhere in Austria except there. Left a bad taste in my mouth for Stiegl.

Loved this place. Food was very good and service was on point! Went in for dinner and even though…read moreit was late, we were able to get a table in the restaurant.

Recommended by the LP guidebook so this is the first restaurant we tried in Innsbruck. Good thing…read moreas it doesn't seem to be open on Saturdays. It's on a narrow side street with a few tables outside. Inside the dining room has well spaced tables, and is artistically decorated, stylish and interesting. We both had the day's special which was sea bass on risotto. Perfectly cooked fish, well presented, the skin so crispy ate it all even though I usually don't like to eat fish skin. A bit pricy (entree at 32 euros) compared to some of the other places but it feels quite upscale.

This was one of the restaurants listed in the Süddeutsche Zeitung as a place to try in Innsbruck…read moreand, we decided to stop in and give it a go. I loved the food here and the service was also excellent. They have a 5 or 6 course degustation menu for both vegetarian and non vegetarians. They also have an a la carte menu with modern Austrian dishes as well as a few traditional Austrian dishes like schnitzel and so on. The a la carte menu also has quite a few choices for vegetarians. They will allow you to also select a dish or two from the degustation menu and let you order it as starter or main. The wine list is extensive and they have a good selection of Austrian and International wines. The waitress we had was very helpful and spoke good English. She also modified the menu slightly to fit a couple of people's requirement. We started with a smoked saibling with lentil and plums as well as a venison carpaccio to share. Both dishes were exquisite, subtle and packed with clean flavors. I absolutely loved my starters. For main I choose the beef cheeks which came on a bed of polenta and veggies. The beef cheeks were cooked to perfection and I loved it too. For dessert we shared a chocolate cake, chocolate mousse and a semolina schmarrn. The chocolate mousse was disappointing and the rest was great. The wine we had was amazing and the coffee was also quite ok. This place is more expensive and the wines are priced on the more expensive side but, not over the top. I would happily pay to eat here again. The flavors are amazing and the ambience and service is excellent. I look forward to my next visit. All four of us enjoyed our meals immensely and would come back here again anytime. A great restaurant in Innsbruck :-))
