Imagine my disappointment when I found out their deep fryer was broken! However, the quick thinking waitress recommended the pan fried potatoes with scallions and bacon. Being a laid back, easy going American who likes to go with the flow, I said "Sure, let's try it" and I'm glad I did. Those potatoes were so good! Much better than fries would have been. It was nice to sit at the sidewalk table and relax and talk over a beer. Very nice place!

Very filling! Day two we enjoyed the breakfast for two which consisted of three German pancakes with a yummy cream to put on top, various croissants and rolls with butter and preserves, and the tiered presentation of scrambled eggs, various cheeses, fruit, olives, prosciutto, turkey, salmon, and a nice horseradish sauce. For the big thirst (or better the big party) they offer XXL-size cocktails which are all above 1 litre. As smoking in food-serving places is prohibited in Germany they have a special room for smokers. If you are sensitive you will smell it in the non-smoking area anyways. It was quite empty on a Wednesday evening but I guess it can get quite loud when it fills.

I did have the feeling that if we hadn't been a large group, impeccably dressed (had just come from a formal affair) that our experience might have been different. Service was professional and only lightly obsequious (sat us at a table that had a reserved sign on it) but could see that if we'd come in a bit grubbier they might have been a bit less attentive.

With Oxford, Andorra and Spanish breakfasts among others on the menu you have a fair choice and all are nice, well cooked and well presented. I have eaten there on many occasions and I have not been disappointed with the food or the coffee. If you drink tea, as I do, you will be shocked at the way they serve tea here, they obviously have no idea. On two occasions I have been served a glass of water with hot milk in it with a tea-bag on a plate, when I explained how to serve the tea properly the waitress seemed unhappy that I mentioned it and did not offer a replacement. I have had at least 3 waitresses serving me there. One was very nice indeed, helpful and friendly, one was very unfriendly and the other only smiled when she got a tip. I like friendly and helpful service and always give a tip (even when they don't write a large hint on the receipt) I would have given 4 points if it wasn't for the sour service on the last two occasions.
