I was served a salad that had raw chicken. Not just raw, but still frozen-ish in the center. Using frozen meats is a bad sign. I sent it back, and the very same dish came out. That's not ok - it had raw chicken on it once before. That's just not sanitary. I poked around and found the chicken to have been de-thawed yet was still raw, a cold raw this time. Yuck. Hands down the best Mexican restaurant that I have found in the southern Dallas area. The margaritas is what got me! I stayed up for maybe an hour on their Yelp page looking at the different margaritas everyone had and I just had to get one. The day that I went they happen to have a cherry limeade Margarita on sale for $3.95. It was so worth it! It was in a big glass, it tasted freshly made and I was still able to tell there was alcohol (not in a bad way.) Their food is very reasonably priced and it seem like they had a great variety of everything. Chips and salsa we're on point. And the service was awesome! The enchilada plate that I had was delicious, however the spinach queso dip was not my favorite. Online it looked more like queso with spinach in it but in person it was a dark green color and it taste like the earthy part of spinach LOL but I still ate it and they still will get a five stars for me. A distant second visit to Plato Loco after 5 years of my first! For a Monday night, it was quite busy with almost every booth populated. The salsa jug was right at the table, and warm chips were delivered in a big bowl. The salsa was very tasty with a nice strong flavor. Chips were replenished whenever going low. We ordered chicken tacos, cheese enchiladas and cheese quesadilla and nothing disappointed us. The rice was quite nice, but we skipped the beans as it had bacon in it. After our meal we were served with a house dessert called soapiyas and it was a hit! Square bread like puffs with cinnamon sugar sprinkled over them. We love to go here for a tasty lunch that is both fast and easy on the wallet. I always have the bean tostada...it's got 2 on a plate and is more than I can eat. It is the best burrito eeever! Their beans have this wonderful baconie flavor to them.. mmmm mmm MMM! The rice is also very good! Not hard, not to mushy, flavor is not to light or strong... just right! Omg what else... Chili Renos are HUGE and filled with cheese or beef.. or you could even get... beef AND cheese..ooo mmmm :] The desserts... *makes homer gurgle* You have to get the apple pie.. The salsa is fresh tasting and doesn't appear to be the canned crapola you often seem to get. I've been there many times and have never been disappointed. The guacamole chalupas are great. Went there last Tuesday about 1:00 pm. There was 3 adults and one child. There was only 2 tables with other customers. Food was good but service was awful. We order extra flour tortillas, never brought them only tortillas enough for my daughters fajitas. Ask for cheese for fajitas was charged an extra $1.25 for a tiny bowl of cheese. And we were charged extra for the tortillas we never received. We ordered sopapillas for desert, waitress never took away empty plates, never asked for or brought extra iced tea. And she had a horrible attitude, like she didn't want to be there, never a smile. And took forever to bring our overcharged check. Never again !!!! read more

Since the new ownership has taken over Plato Loco, there's been a HUGE increase in the quality of its food. My husband and I absolutely LOVE Plato Loco! We dine there at least once a week and have become true regulars. The staff is on a "first name" basis with us and Anne, the new owner is ALWAYS there to make certain everything is fresh and hot! I'm particularly fond of the cheese-filled or pork-filled Chile relleno topped with Chile con Queso..but there are several sauces you can choose for it. My husband is crazy about their Beef Fajitas! Great salsa casera with chips. Try the spicy hot salsa Verde served warm with your chips...so good! We just love it. The menu is nice and large and also includes breakfast which we have had several times. American with traditional pancakes and eggs or you can have traditional Mexican breakfast with Ranchero eggs, Migas or my favorite, Chlaquiles. Whatever you order, It's ALL delicious. Plato Loco occasionally has entertainment from Vegas but has local entertainment karaoke later on Friday night's when the best Margaritas -all kinds, but we like the Blue Margaritas ourselves- and best brands of Mexican beer are served. If you are in the neighborhood or if you just want some good Mexican food, go straight to Plato Loco. You won't be disappointed, I promise. Thought I'd give this place a shot due to it being close to home. The wait staff were very friendly, but very slow as well. I ordered one of their "loco burgers" and when it was brought to the table the first thing I noticed is that it was nothing more than one of those pre made frozen hamburger patties. The second and most notable thing was the fact that the food was cold, to include the fries that came with it. The most enjoyable part of dinner was the fact that my Corona was cold and football was playing on the TV. Both of which I could have done from home. I went to Plato Loco on Cinco de Mayo and we had both questions and order we both made. I ordered chili con queso as an appetizer and when it came to the table it looked like a gooey mess of only cheese, cheese that came out of a can. When I asked where the chilly part of the con queso was inside me she tried to convince me that chili con queso is only queso. She went to the kitchen and brought me and little bowl of taco meat and expected me just to Simply mix it into the cheese instead of taking the cheese back to the kitchen and doing it there. My friend had ordered the number 4 lunch special and it should have come with a tostada and when it arrived all it was, was a open face corn tortilla fried with guacamole spread on top. No meat no beans no lettuce no tomatoes just a tortilla with guacamole. It seem like when my friend and I questioned both items, we were looked at like we had horns on our head. We will not come back to this location at all based on the service we received and how they actually are making and or preparing Simple Tex Mex Mexican Cuisine that most of us have a pretty good grasp what it should be when it comes to our table.
