We didn't have a reservation; we were just two slightly drenched people in need of shelter, wine, and food. As it turned out, we couldn't have landed in a better place. While the storm raged outside, we settled in with a glass of wine and shared the risotto and gnocchi. Both were outstanding. The risotto was rich and creamy without being heavy, and the gnocchi was equally delicious. Beautiful, uncomplicated Italian food made with obvious care. The space itself is clean and understated, with an open counter where you can watch the chef prepare and put the finishing touches on each dish. There's something especially satisfying about watching your dinner come together right in front of you. Our server was warm and patient while we dried off and made ourselves comfortable, and what started as an escape from the rain turned into one of those perfect evenings.
