Well. I hate giving bad reviews, however we felt swindled by the 8- 5 star reviews and felt it necessary to tell the truth. We were in a 16 hr drive, stopped here because I'd the overall 5 star rating The facade was old, worn, bars on the window , in a run down strip plaza. We would never have entered if we didn't have a 5 star Yelp rating. The lady greeted us with a handwritten list of food that was ready- we ordered to go- would t want to dine there. I couldn't make myself stop and eat here. It was dark on the outside and the inside didn't seem much better. Needs more lighting!!!

We stopped for lunch on a 7 hour trip and glad we did. The nicest people welcomed us and explained the blue plate choices for today's lunch: baked chicken, Turkey wing, or hamburger steak and gravy with 2 veggies, bread, dessert and drink. The chicken and HB steak came quickly and were delicious. Greens and cornbread were delicious. Sorry to take off one star for instant mashed potatoes and the overall decor. Just keeping it honest. We really enjoyed being there tho and will return on our next trip. Also, there is a full menu for the evening meal. It's very small, only 7 tables, thus the name! read more

First time visiting Yazoo and it was recommended by a local. She didn't steer us wrong. Ordered the butter garlic mushrooms for appetizer. They were garlicky and delicious. I saw them fried and they looked amazing. Next up was our salads. All dressings are homemade and I got the house which was like a light version of a thousand island. Delish. I got the wings and Hubby got the catfish. Both served with fries and piping hot. We had fish leftover (yay!). I would go back tomorrow. It's not fancy. Road Trip. Threw a back pack in the back seat and headed out of New Orleans for the weekend. That's right we left NOLA home of all kinds of wonderful food to travel up through Mississippi and hunger pangs hit us about 30 miles from Yazoo. Now the mister and I have a deal never eat at a chain as long as there is a place owned by an individual. As we were cruising along he started reading the reviews. And I knew what I wanted before we had even stopped. A big ole ice cold glass of sweet tea. Fried mushrooms. Chicken strips battered by hand and some garlic mashed taters. The man he had the baked catfish. Now let me tell you. The waiter Maurice was on the ball. There was no waiting around. The food came out piping hot and it smelled as good as it looked No sooner then we finished the mushrooms he was serving the main course. The baked catfish was melt in your mouth deliciousness. But my chicken strips were seasoned to perfection and not overly salty as some places tend to do The quantity was abundant I couldn't finish it all. So as I am sitting in a motel on a backroad of Mississippi I am nibbling on some left over chicken. Wishing I had some more of that wonderful sweet tea. Sometimes you have to take a chance open that door to the sound of sweet cool jazz. And have a cold glass of that sweet tea. You won't regret it. read more

Great food and service! Driving through Yazoo City after the Bentonia Blues Festival, we stumbled across Cafe 7. The exterior- in a somewhat run-down strip mall - did not inspire confidence in the online reviews. However, the catfish was perfectly prepared, the salad was fresh (clearly homemade dressing), and the server/service was excellent! We walked in about 7 pm on a Saturday night. The only customers when we entered, the place was full (there are 7 tables in the dining room) within minutes. Take out was busy throughout our visit. I ordered the cheeseburger and my dad had the pork chop sand which! Both were gone within seconds. Tasted like your moms homemade cheeseburger! So good! I will be back. We had take out but the service was great and the set up is nice as well. read more
