A friend of mine referred me to this place for their desserts and overall atmosphere, though I decided to go there for breakfast instead. I'm sure their desserts are great, but I was rather disappointed by the breakfast. I had the big omelette (last egg dish on the menu). To be fully honest, the plating and overall result of the omelette was closer to something that would have been slapped together at home. I've had many omelette before at restaurants, but found this not only lacking in taste, but also in presentation. All of the different food items on the plate were "bleeding" into one another because of the water running through the eggs. Pickles in an omelette don't really mix well. Though I had no idea I would be getting pickles. This wasn't stated on the English menu. If you love pickles, then no worries, but I'm not a fan -- especially in eggs. Aside from that, a service charge of 19% was added to my bill without prior knowledge. This was not stated anywhere on the menu that I saw, nor did the waitress make that known. The service was friendly and hospitable though. The only redeeming factors were the delicious chai tea, which I really loved, and the atmosphere of the place was was pleasant and jovial. They also have great WiFi download speeds but know that upload speeds are slow. Be warned, if you're allergic to the sounds of babies crying, you also might want to look elsewhere! read more

Lovely cafe in a laid back neighborhood corner of Berlin. It was a beautiful morning and their terrace was jammed but they were able to accommodate us inside right away. Hubby had the eggs benedict (served with a bread basket) and I had the omelette plus a buttery croissant. Yum! Tea pot and capuchino were delicious. The service was attentive while not pushy. We'll be back before the end of our Berlin visit as they also have a variety of great looking tortes and pies we would love to sample. read more

Do Berliners (Berlinese?) know how to brunch or what? Yes, yes they do...and Anna Blume is quite possibly the loveliest of places to enjoy a beautifully German brunch, in the shade of old trees, small groups chattering away (in only a way I've found in Germany...quiet, yet understandable), tables set precariously (yet sturdily) among the cobblestone sidewalks. Rays of sun dotting the patio area, birds jumping about from table to table... It's ideal. It's out of my brunching dreams. My recommendation: get a group of 4 together, head over and split the Anna Blume brunch tier for 4. It works out to being not only very affordable per person, but you'll get to sample a bit of all the brunch delicacies: spreads, jams, breads, eggs, butter, more spreads, meats, cheeses, fruits...(see I told you, wonderful, wonderful thing we've discovered here!) They also have this brunch tier for 2 (17,5) or...of course you can order your own, which is what I did. The Amonome (sp?) was a beautiful tiered plate of lox, horseradish spread, breads, fruits, strawberry jam, butter, with scrambled eggs atop pumpernickel toast. My dining companion ordered the same. We also each had two coffees...I favored the small pot of coffee with side of milk (then a cappucino) both served with multiple cookies, of course. He had the latte machiatto. Our whole bill for a brunch fit for kings plus enough caffeine to spark a horse: under 30 euros. *there are blankets on the patio in case of a chill. *gets busy on weekends. *they have a cake bar!? WHAT, I missed this. Next time. My favorite breakfast in Berlin (in Germany!) thus far. I'll definitely be back, it's a very happy place, and they even have a flower shop. Two reasons a friend was excited to go: 1. This restaurant is named after her favorite poem, an example of DaDaism. 2. The 3-Tier brunch display. A group of us met here for Berlin brunch. The concept is genius and well timed for sleeping in. We managed to convince 2 others to partake in the 4 person brunch sample. The 3 tier serving materialized in front of us loaded with meats, cheeses, fruits, jams, butter, cream cheese, and other delights. Scrambled eggs and rolls are came with. Anna Blume is the place to go for group brunch. But don't let the fact that it's a weekday stop you; any day can be brunch-tastic, not just Sunday. The primary menu item of note is the (perhaps misspelled) "Tree Tower" for two or four persons, consisting of *three* levels of tasty treats. From meats, cheeses, fruits, vegetables and more, this tower has it all. Not to mention the fact that it's accompanied by a massive bread basket of assorted breads and rolls. It's also cheap as balls. The four-person tower is only 24.50 EUR, or around 6 EUR per person for more food than you could ever hope to eat. read more

As cute as the place was, it didn't seem all that it was cracked up to be. The breakfast for four tower was cool and pretty good, but the rest of the menu didn't seem that elaborate and the crepe my friend ordered looked like an appetizer not a main dish! The hot cocoa was tasty but served to me warm! Although the whipped cream was beyond delicious. I think if I go again I will try their daily menu food or cake because that may be the go to not the breakfast tower or a crepe. Their coffee and tea options are extensive and I think this would be a nice place for kaffee und küchen but not a real lunch. Altogether I give them 3 stars! Things that I like: perfect for both winter and summer. Inside it's really cozy and the outdoor area is also great. I'm also amazed by the coffee size, huge americano is always appreciate. Regarding the food, I definitely tried better. But the bread baskets are an upgrade. Cute cafe, great service but food was just ok. My friend and I had the tower of food for brunch - which was nice - but I don't think I would go back for that. There was little of everything in the tower - from fruits, lovely jams, olives, cheeses, cold cuts and eggs, but not enough protein. The other breakfast items seemed interesting. Based on the hit and miss reviews, I'm guessing that there's an owner to this place who isn't around sometimes. On the late afternoon I went (a Sunday) the staff really didn't feel like working. They did a whole lot of standing around and joking with each other, but not a lot of working. I kept trying to make eye contact with or flag down my server, but she went out of her way to avoid my attempts at getting her attention. It was actually a little funny, like she knew I was trying to get service but she averted her eyes...clearly she was super busy holding up the wall, like the whole building was going to fall down if she stopped leaning on it. It was impossible to pay the bill...took literally 15 minutes. Server girl disappeared completely. Bar guy actually laughed at me and said only server girl could help me pay. He joked I could run without paying, which I almost did. Finally, Asian guy, the only person actually working in the place, noticed how pissed we were getting and came to assist us with our bill. He was actually super cool...if everyone there worked like he did, the place would be great. Like I said, I'm guessing the place runs well when the owner/manager is present. Maybe they should have a special light they turn off when management isn't present so we know not to waste our time with shitty service. read more

On a sunny morning in Berlin, we did what many Germans and especially Berliner love to do ... have brunch! I never had better brunch then in Berlin. I think its the combination of food, which makes it so enjoyable. You get a lot of savory stuff and a few sweet options, which is the way I prefer breakfast! We decided to go for the brunch tier for 4 people ... as we' were a group of 4 ... and we tried and we tried, but it was too much. But I have to admit we made a noticeable dent into the food on offer. You get three tiers: top is all fruit and marmalade, middle is all cheese and cut meats, bottom has different salads and olives and such things. With it you get a basket with different rolls and breads and a good sized bowel of scrambled eggs. Yummy all the way around. Combined with a cup (or more a bowel) of Cafe au lait and I was in heaven ... although I was missing pancakes. I think I could have easily spend another hour or two picking at the leftovers, but we had further plans to paint the town red. Oh, I wish i could get Brunch a la Berlin in London. read more

The coffee and espresso bar drinks are fantastic and made to perfection. Tiered breakfast is delish, but make sure you like all items included or it will be a waste of your money. Cute ambiance overall and is connected to a florist. Service is slower, but on par with what I experienced throughout Berlin. Amazing brunch! The wine, the food, the people watching - so good! A perfect way to restart the day after after a late night in Berlin. The place is super charming - tons of outdoor seating, flowers every place and great views of the neighborhood. I ordered the Anemone - lox, scrambled eggs, salad, bread, fresh fruit - honestly I wish I could always have this for breakfast. It was a fantastic mix of breakfast foods - and the pumpernickel bread was SO freaking good. I had the Riesling which was also great - refreshing, crisp and not too sweet. We also had the ham and egg scramble. I was skeptical by my bf's decision to order this but it was actually incredible. Maybe it was the hangover, maybe it was the wine, maybe it was the memories of the previous night - whatever it was it made Anna Blume freaking delicious and so enjoyable. I was walking in the morning in the middle of winter and saw this place. I stopped for breakfast and was very happy they speak English and have English menus. I don't speak a word of German (sorry!). The food was very tasty, the ambiance is nice and upscale, and the service was good. I definitely recommend this place for breakfast or lunch. I had an omelet and jumbo cappuccino. I'm a big bruncher -- and traveling always gives me a great excuse to get out and try a few new places. My best friend has been here before and she wanted me to experience Anna Blume. We arrived a little before 11am, expecting it to be fairly easy to get a table. But wow! This place was buzzing families, couples, large groups and even single diners. The atmosphere was electric and everyone appeared to be enjoying a leisurely brunch with minimal background noise to drown out conversation. After almost waiting an hour for a table for three (keep in mind it's winter and no outdoor seats are available, unless you sit outside with blankets, which are provided), my friends and I were sat in a cozy little back corner which reminded us of a 1930's cabaret. The wait did not bother us, but some tourists behind us in line complained that there was no hostess nor an "official" wait-list. If a couple walked in, they were sat before a group of four, etc. Our orders for freshly squeezed orange juice, hot chocolate with whipped cream and coffees were promptly taken. When a friend asked for water she was happily surprised when the waiter asked "tap, still or gased?". Almost always in Europe, tap is never offered and one must specifically ask for it before a liter of Panna is presented. The food, oh the food. My eyes were most definitely larger than my stomach and I enjoyed the 2 eggs and lox, which was served with a small salad and fruit, as well as a cheese and fruit plate. My friends enjoyed the omelette with feta and vegetables, as well as crepes. There was a mistake with our food and an extra plate was brought out, so we had the chance to try even more delicious food! It was a shame that we couldn't clear the plates, we tried! Oh how we tried! The fresh bread and jam was probably the reason we couldn't lick our plates clean. The two girls next to us had only ordered drinks and dessert, but I was tempted to join them in their cakes! The desserts looked amazing in their case - you can walk in and purchase something from the case from what I understand. Prices were comparable to brunch in the States and I would happily fork over 17 Euro for more food like that on another occasion. The flower shop adjacent to Anna Blume was also fairly busy. It was a welcomed sight, as winter in Berlin can be a little dreary. We were tempted to walk in but our full bellies directed us to the street to walk off what we had just eaten. read more

When you see there is a queue outside a restaurant or cafe, normally thats a good sign.. The weather was nice, so they were busy, but we got a table inside the cafe. We ordered a latte, an americano, a glass of apple juice and shared a big brunch plate, which was actually a brunch tower.. The coffee was very good, there was some gravad salmon, and scrambled eggs that tasted fine, but that was about it.. The rest was bland (at best), Unripe fruit, pickled vegetables that was stonecold, a lot of lettuce (I dont know why), mozzarella that was covered in what they thought was pesto, but really wasnt, some sausages and ham that didnt taste of anything. and a basket of boring bread..The apple juice was Brown at the top and the rest looked like Water...How they managed to make something like that, remains a mystery. Looking at the other plates around the tables it was pretty much the same standard of food... One star for the coffee and one star for the location.. If you're studying in Berlin, chances are you depend on your parents' money. Anna Blume is the place where you'll take them when they come for a surprise visit. It's the sweet spot between Big City hipness and "just like home". The cakes are excellent, and the service is usually (!) quite friendly. On sunny Sundays, though, you'll need more than a little patience. And if you don't feel like waiting an hour or longer for your breakfast, the "Sowohl als auch" across the street (operated by the same people) is a worthy alternative. read more

Went to this area because I heard that it is popular for brunch spots but Anna Blume caught my eye because it was PACKED at 10am and there was a line. We thought the wait should be worth it. The decor is very cute and loads of people, always busy!! Good Offer highchairs and lots of toys / children activity such as paper and crayons too!! Ordered: Freshly squeezed orange and apple juic Ham and Swiss crepe, I felt like it needed ketchup (maybe that's just too American of me). My husband ordered an arugula salad but you can't really judge a restaurant by it's salad! Ordered two eggs in a cup which was pretty good, also had sprouts on top, my son's favorite! Two slices of cake: cheesecake (too cream cheese-y for me but everyone else liked it) and chocolate ice cream with a side of vanilla ice cream, sooooo delicious!! Loved the mousse. I had high expectations. Food was fine- better than fine. The problem I have is with the service. I'm used to service in Berlin which is generally cold by North American standards but this was a little over the top. Greated by a snarky waitress. I was with my wife and children and would have expected a little warmth. I've never written a review like this but it lines up with what I'm reading. We had to ask twice for the check and really normally this wouldn't bother me. Waiters can be busy. But the snide look I got from the waitress really left me wordless. I'm not sure if they'd rather not have tourists here as it is recommended by Lonely Planet. But it gets better- the waitress informs us the tip isn't included in the bill and would we like to give it to her directly. I don't know what to say other than whether you come here is really up to you as you have been warned- read the reviews and decide for yourself. Food is 4 stars/ Service 2 = 3 stars I am writing because it is recommended in a guide book and I think people should come here but at least you know what to expect. read more

This place have some excellent coffee! The special breakfast for 2 is well presented on a 3 platters one on top of the other and includes fruits, cheese, bread, gravlax and other things. Negative points: they dont seem to put too much attention to what they put on their plate. There was a rotten grape and some really not fresh strawberries. I was not a fan of this place whatsoever. Perhaps it was because we got the wrong dishes or something, but I got an orange and mango crepe with peach yogurt ice cream and I was expecting something really refreshing and wound up getting something sour and unripe. The oranges inside tasted awful and the mango was nearly impossible to cut. The crepe itself also had a very odd texture, but for the reviews this place had, I was expecting something much better and it definitely let me down. read more

Excellent crepes, both sweet and savory. Many of the sweet crepes come with homemade ice creams or sorbets, the ones of which I've tried (hazelnut, banana, strawberry, vanilla) have been excellent. Many people go for the tiered trays of brunch-y/breakfast-y foods, but at 18 euros for 2 people, I've never wanted to commit. There's also a nice selection of teas, and service was good.
