Spreegold is a a very cute cafe near Alexander Platz which is very convenient for all transportation and cultural attractions in the city. The menu has a lot of interesting options and has a vibe of American style food like pancakes and Benedict eggs. The ambiance is also what you would expect on an American cafe. The food overall was okay. Although the presentation of all the dishes was beautiful ; the food itself was not great . The poached eggs were overcooked and seemed more like hardboiled eggs than anything, no runny yolk or softness. The pancakes were catalog worth it ; but they were a bit flat and not super flavorful . Overall I would probably try a different spot next time!

Bad coffee but excellent food. The filter coffee (refill) tastes better than anything from the espresso machine.

What a way to end of our trip! Gold fine. Amazing breakfast, very nicely presented, all the basics and then some! Tried the traditional bacon and eggs and some super sweet looking pankcakes. Juices are a thriller. Friendly staff.

As a native San Franciscan, I concur with the reviews that point out the similarities between Spreegold and any popular brunch place back home in the Bay. But I think that might be the problem. By embracing the West Coast brunch aesthetic, Spreegold tries to do too much and forgets the fact that it's a restaurant in Berlin, where this San Franciscan example may not necessarily work. Take the menu for example. Extensive is one way to describe it. The Pink Lady, underneath the poached eggs section, immediately called out to me as something that I would probably order back home in California. An aesthetically pleasing egg dish--what more could I ask for on a Sunday morning? Maybe cold poached eggs that didn't take more than half an hour to come out of the kitchen? I can excuse the wait during weekend brunch (in retrospect, hangry me definitely didn't), but the actual food itself left more to be desired. The beetroot hollandaise sauce that gives the Pink Lady its name completely overwhelmed the dish, making you forget about the pumpkin hummus or even the poached eggs. I'd try another breakfast dish on a weekday morning instead.

I wished this was chewier.. it just sort of crumbled...

Aw I'm a little sad to see a 3 star overall rating for Spreegold. We were here for breakfast in June 2017. If you're looking for fresh, quasi-farm-to-table (because I'm not really sure if it's locally sourced), and wholesome food, Spreegold is your spot. I was totally a fan of their home-made pasta and the boyfriend seemed to have enjoyed his paleo omelette. The menu can be a bit overwhelming... it's HUGE! Everything sounded delicious, so narrowing down my options was definitely a challenge. Luckily, the lovely girl taking our order was very friendly and patient. Oh, and the portions are huge too. Nice space. Kind of has a hipster vibe. Would totally fit in in San Francisco. The only slight downside is that it is a bit on the pricier end. However, I guess when you're used to California prices, it's pretty standard.

I was in Berlin for a month back in May and Spreegold was the place I went to for breakfast almost every morning as it was conveniently next our AirBnb. They have a great selection of healthy and delicious brunch foods such as avocado toast, eggs benedict, oatmeal, fruits, waffles, etc. Great coffee and espresso too. The ambiance is nice. Also, if you're an American (maybe it's a West Coast thing, actually) and you're used to every building you enter being air-conditioned -- be prepared! It can get pretty hot inside the restaurant during the summer months, as with any other place though. It can also get busy sometimes. There was a time when we waited almost 40 minutes for a plate of avocado toast and waffles. Overall it was still a great experience and would love to visit again.

We had to grab some breakfast earlier and this place was nearby. I'm a place between 3 or 4 stars, but I actually enjoyed the place. Only thing dragging them down is the service, I don't like selfservice and the waiter was kind of rude when we tried to order, because we didn't know. I love the outside seatings though and how you can watch how they cook the food in the cafe.

Looking for a great place to grab quality food with friends? Then this is your place! Quality: The best, expensive but worth it Quantity: Awesome, any meal will fill you Service: Good, the waitress spoke 3 languages and was very attentive and willing to help us interpret the menu. (FREE WIFI, before dinner) Location: 1 minute from Alexander Platz, and surrounded by beautiful places to walk around and see. Price: $$, 20-25€ with tax and tip Summary: I will forever recommend this place to Americans and any other travelers coming to Berlin. You won't be disappointed in any way.

The food can be good (yet pricey for what you get), although I would honestly only recommend this place for breakfast. The drinks are unfortunately poorly made and overpriced.

I had bookmarked this cafe after doing some research on popular cafes in Berlin, so we decided to take a look. After ordering the Chai Chocolate which we thought sounded yummy, we were so satisfied with our choice! Food: - Chai Chocolate--€2.90 I wasn't sure what exactly the drink would be but it sounded good so I decided to order this hot drink. Boy was it a good decision! It was like a spicy hot chocolate, with sweetness from the chocolate in harmony with the fragrant spices of a chai tea. The spices they used included cinnamon, cardamom, and ginger. I especially liked the consistency of the drink. It was rich and velvety and thick, just how I like my hot chocolates. Tips: - There is another location in Friedrichstraße, closer to Tiergarten if you are in that area.

German food is also quite heavy so finding this place was such a joy!! I went straight for the Japanese Bowl with it's filling of eggplant, edamame, beets, ramen and cucumber with a light miso-mayo dressing. This wasn't your ordinary ramen bowl! It was a fanciful bowl that played "light" and "hearty" in the same mix that made for a super tasty bowl of healthy eats. Hubby had the Protein Bowl with quinoa, beets, almonds, chili and brocolli. I preferred mine over his although his was exactly what he needed as far a nutrition. These two bowls were so refreshing and light but hearty enough to get full. Best part: every piece of the meal was healthy and worked together. I honestly could have eaten here every day just to sample the rest of the menu. You can add, delete, customize your food choices based on whether you are gluten-free, lactose intolerant, vegan, etc. You really can't go wrong with the food choices here. There is a smoothie bar also but you place your order(s) at another counter. Indoor seating with phone chargers available at each table (I guess that's a sign of the times nowadays). Beets & Roots has a really cool, laid back vibe with great customer service! I loved that the menu was decipherable and the staff was eager to help us customize our order. They have been closed for rennovations and just opened again recently, so I'm glad I got to stop by here while on vacation. The restaurant was pretty packed on a Saturday evening, but we were able to grab the other end of a long table to eat at. They currently don't have any menus in English, but the waitress was happy to explain dishes we couldn't understand. The menu is filled with some starters, tapas, burgers, and desserts. We decided to share a variety of items and got 3 tapas (fried chicken, pulled pork, and bao bun) and the triple cheeseburger with bacon. Out of the 3 tapas, I enjoyed the fried chicken the most. It was moist, fried nicely, and not oily. The coleslaw that accompanied it was also good. The pulled pork was also tasty, but I wasn't a huge fan of pairing it with humus. My least favorite was the bao bun. I thought the bun was way too thick...so thick I actually thought it was 2 buns stuck together. The pork however was cooked well and very tender. I enjoyed the triple cheeseburger with bacon. I liked how the burger came out medium rare on a sizzling pan. We left it on there a few minutes and enjoyed eating it medium-medium well. The bacon, guacamole, lettuce, and tomatoes were also on the side, so you can add as much or as little to your burger as you liked. It was definitely customizable! I washed my food down with a mojito, which was just okay. A little too much mint for my liking. I probably should have just ordered from their beer menu! Service was great, with our two waitresses being rather attentive throughout our meal. They happy gave C some paper and crayons/colored pens when he asked for them.
