great experience with friends…read more
we arrived at 7pm and didn't leave until 1030p, so that should give you a little hint on whether we liked it to not.
ambiance - the entrance is located down a little alleyway. once inside, you are surrounded by stone in an old, cave like building. the lighting and styling make it a cozy space to enjoy a wonderful meal.
the service - our waiter (Daniele) was on point. incredibly personable, attentive, and funny! the food was timed incredibly well. they gave us plenty of time to enjoy, instead of rushing things out one after another.
we had a group of 11, so we had to do the prix-fixe menu. let me tell you though, the amount of food was easily enough for 15 people.
the starters - these were shared with the table, but they definitely brought more than enough.
crispy bread with tomatoes and olive oil
pesto infused burrata with roasted tomatoes
tuna tartare with crispy plantains
brioche topped with Catalan sausage, truffle cream, and crunchy mushrooms
each of these was tasty. i'd say my favorites were the tuna tartare and the brioche.
the mains: each person selected their main.
cod cooked 2 ways with trinxat (mashed potato, winter cabbage, rendered pork fat), iberian ham, and figs
argentine angus tenderloin
Iberian pluma (cut from acorn fed pig), smoked sweet potato
i got the last one and it. was. AMAZING. cooked to a medium and was deliciously tender. others reported the angus tenderloin was good, but needed some kind of sauce with it.
desserts (pick one):
variety of chocolates
cannoli filled with goat cheese cheesecake and berries
ice cream - passionfruit and raspberry with a white crunch
for 65 euro per person for the prix-fixe, this was a great meal to share with friends!
drinks - very reasonably priced bottles of wine (around 28 euro per bottle), so we kept well hydrated throughout the experience. others in the group got cocktails and said they were really good as well.
i've never spent 3.5 hrs in any restaurant, anywhere, but i would go back here in a heartbeat. i fully recommend checking this place out if you're in Barcelona!
