Came here since I have a sweet tooth. The thing to get here is the churros with chocolate. The chocolate itself is not too sweet, and the churro reminds me of the Chinese donut (youtiao). Service was quick. There's a cute indoor seating at the cafe with, as well as an outdoor seating area. Coffee is aite, but pairs well with dessert. The best thing is you can finally have an "American breakfast". This place offered a plate of scrambled eggs, bacon, and pancakes. It was good not great, but we needed it. Service was good and the ambiance was decent - we were in a tented area outside on the plaza. It was cold out so they had space warmers which definitely helped. read more

We came for breakfast at this place and the service was horrible. The waiter was super frazzled and overworked. The cafe was full with only two waiters. I ordered the English breakfast with over-easy eggs and no sausage. They brought me over cooked eggs and undercooked bacon. I even told the waiter and he said, "they are just overcooked" and didn't offer to bring me the correct plate. I just couldn't eat these food. He didn't bring the juice either that was included with our order. Very poor service. read more

Cafe Futbol was a fun place to have breakfast, before we went to the Parque de las Ciencias. We got their churros because we heard they had really good ones, and they were! The chocolate wasn't too sweet or heavy compared to some other places. We also got the American breakfast for some protein and it was a pretty typical American breakfast. It was really busy when we arrived but the two of us got a table quite quickly on their outdoor patio/plaza. The servers were really busy too but still made time to be friendly. Payment was inside and when the woman found out we spoke English she explained the history of the place and name which was really interesting, and it was her family's cafe. She also really sold their ice cream which we were unfortunately unable to get back for, but next time I'm in Granada I will definitely be eating here again! read more

uniquely bad experience. My partner and I sat right near the entrance with clear view of the staff. We ordered coffee, tea, and churros -- what seems to be a regular order at this place. After 30 minutes of waiting, we realized they forgot the order. "Ok, maybe they are busy/ it's an honest mistake," we thought. We ordered again and it took them ~15 minutes to deliver the food and drinks. After we were done, we asked politely for the check. It took them ~20 minutes to deliver it, and we had to ask twice for it. In fact, at first they delivered no check and just told me to pay 5.80 Euro (???). When I asked again to see the check, they delivered it, but instead of coffee it had another drink with the same price (???). By this time, we definitely didn't feel welcomed, so I just took the check inside so we don't have to wait another 20 minutes. I understand mistakes happen and there are cultural differences / language barrier, but we've never experienced something like this, be it in Europe, Asia, or the US. There were many before us who were served and went on their day while we had to wait more than an hour for a simple order, while being 3 meters from the staff. We were left puzzled by what felt like purposeful negligence directed toward us. I urge the people working there to consider how it would feel if they receive this treatment when visiting another city. We spotted this place because it has a nice location in the plaza and they said it was ok for us to just order wine and sit outside (another place told us we had to order food too in order to be seated). We waited about 15 minutes to order and were never offered a menu. Not wanting to wait longer than we had to, we just asked for white wine. The waiter was both disinterested and aloof in assisting us. While we were waiting, another waiter (much nicer) brought us a tapas plate. We tried to refuse it, thinking he brought it in error but he said it was standard if guests ordered drinks they brought you a tapa. We weren't hungry but tried it anyway. It was a montedito with tiny crispy French fries. I tried one bite and was immediately repulsed. My friend opened the sandwich and it appeared to be canned tuna mixed with salmorejo. The combination was not great. At this point we are still waiting and I'm spotting this waiter serving everyone around us but us. Finally after waiting 20 minutes the nicer waiter brought us the two glasses of wine and the bottle of water that my friend ordered. Wine was just ok. We immediately decided to try and flag down our waiter so we could pay. We still tried to get his attention but he kept ignoring us. Don't go here if you are not from Spain you will not be met with kindness! read more

We heard their churros are amazing, so we gave them a try late one night, and yes, the churros are amazing. Four of us split 2 orders, and it still turned out to be way too many churros, so I recommend splitting between at least 3 people. The churros are big, doughy, and generously fried, reminding us Americans of a typical carnival snack. But they're so satisfying to eat, either dipped in chocolate or rolled in some sugar. Great "local" ambiance with locals popping in and out, decently sized with enough space for a stroller, very decently priced, nice strong coffee and good overall quality of food. Cafe Futbol is the perfect what you'd expect Spanish/European plaza breakfast spot and it won't disspoint especially if you just want some cappuccino, hot chocolate, and churros. Side note: Ice cream here is actually pretty decent, not the best, but if you're craving some and are close by Cafe Futbol will fill your need. read more

I tried the Churro and Chocolate at this place because of good reviews that I read in Yelp and Trip Advisor. In my opinion, they were not that great like what other people raved about. I ordered a portion of Churro (6 pieces for 1.50 Euro) and hot chocolate as dipping (2 Euro). I was only able to eat 1.5 of the churro. By far the worst restaurant we visited in Spain, and certainly one of the worst I've ever had the misfortune of being at. Worst service of all time. For starters, the waiter took the orders of each table around us, and ignored my friend and I who said (in Spanish) we were ready to order. Each of the four tables around us were served before he even took our order. We finally ordered and it took another 25 minutes to get our glass of bitter house white wine. When we asked for the check, again in Spanish, our waiter stared blankly at me. You'll be shocked to read that instead of bringing the check, he helped the new round of customers as he was chewing a sandwich. Taking orders with his mouth full- so gross. Another table of Americans sat down and he threw a menu at one of them. After several unsuccessful attempts to get our check, we put money on the table and started walking away. Immediately, he started running after us yelling. He ignored us for over 45 minutes but was obviously aware of us. It seemed very much that he was ignoring us because we are American, despite us speaking solely in Spanish. read more

As a restaurant, this is just ok. We sat outdoors on a very hot day. Our waiters looked miserable because of the heat. The menu just features typical tapas and bocadillos and just mediocre prices. The quality of the food matches the price. However, their specialty are the sweets. We got granizados (like a juice slushy) which was a perfect refreshment on such a hot day. We also suggest the ice cream. They have a whole page or 2 of ice cream treats. They are delicious. The waiter was rushed to fill our order even though we were one of the only ones in the restaurant. He basically ordered four orders for us and that was waaayyyy to much. A family of four could have done with 2 order. The chocolate was actually pretty good but the churros left more to be desired. This cafe has a reputation for having the best churros con chocolate in Granada, but in my opinion, they are only second best. Still, if you are in the Realejo neighborhood, you should grab a breakfast of churros here. If you are going to be in Centro, then don't bother making the trek here. read more

This is a classic restuarant amongst the locals and after frequenting it often while studying abroad here in spring 2013, I can understand why. I hated seeing the tourist trap-like restaurants in the city center and this is worth one's money than the latter. My orders have ranged from churros con chocolate to paella and I never had a bad experience with the food. The service is on the slow side, but that's the only con I have with this place. read more

The churros are absolutely great but the coffee is lacking. There is great outdoor seating and the waiters are usually pretty helpful but I wouldn't consider this a place that everyone must go to while in Granada.
