Delicious food and great spot on the river. The spanikopita grilled cheese was very original, and the chia bowl and salad we ate were great and unique too. They have water pitchers you can take back to your table.

What a lovely vegan restaurant in downtown Trois-Rivières. The decor is charming and the river views are excellent. Our vegan brunch was well constructed- my 'tostada' was like a high quality breakfast burrito with vegan cheese, and my wife's fake chicken and waffles had surprisingly good texture and taste. The kids had a bagel which was pretty standard and an interesting bowl of overnight oats. Overall everyone was delighted and it was a nice brief visit to Trois Rivières.

Stopped at Cafe Frida on a drive from Quebec City to Mont Tremblant, and overall glad I did, as the 100% vegan menu has numerous unique options, the indoor space is a large cafe-style bring-a-book or laptop type setting (which I'm a sucker for), and cafe itself is located within view of the river. The poutine with fake meat (which I had never tried before) was solid (would give it a 3.5/5), and the breakfast bowl had enough variety and flavor to be repeatable (would give it a 4/5). Where Cafe Frida falls short of 5 stars for me is the prices are a bit high for what you get. Don't get me wrong, the portions are huge, but the flavors don't really warrant the prices (which can be 18 CAD for a bowl). If I came back here, I'm not sure I would pay for the main dishes again because of the prices, though I'd be happy to return for a drink perhaps to enjoy the setting.

So, this is a vegan cafe. I did not realize that when I picked it out because I did not read the reviews carefully (I was not being a good Yelper). However, the menu immediately gave me hope. With the exception of one or two brunch offerings, none of the dishes were trying to imitate non-vegan food. I ordered the crepes which were fantastic, stuffed with banana, and covered in a dark chocolate "Nutella" (a house made sauce as Nutella contains milk). My partner got a dish that included potatoes, beans, and fruit. Everything tasted great and I felt full afterwards. The setting is great with a patio and wrap-around views of the river. Inside, the cafe feels rustic and hippie in a good way. We were treated to a show with the weather changing from cloudy, to driving rain, to sun all in the course of our meal. The staff were pleasant and more than happy to answer any questions I had. I would come back here again to get a healthier brunch in a casual setting.

Cafe Frida both was and wasn't what I expected- the interior is chique and cozy Hipster designed, while the exterior was corporate brick building. The food was vegan but wonderfully flavoured and fresh. The people were staff and patrons looked artsy and booji but weren't the slightest bit uppity - the experience we, as carnivores, had here was amazing. We came on an unassuming Sunday morning with dreary weather - Cafe Frida already had a filled room but hadn't set out the patio furniture, making us think it was closed. Thankfully they were open and our decision whether to take away or stay put was made for us by the hurricane outside that had developed in the 120 seconds it took for us to go from the car to perusing the menu card. The menu card where we meat eater saw in bright green font at the top, "100% vegan". "Crap" , I thought. I need meat to get through the day. Why would they do this to me??? I decided to go with whatever looked heartiest on the menu and wished for the best. We sat by the window and watched the torrential downpour ravage the port as we waited for our food. I sipped a Sri Lankan Ceylon tea while waiting, but wasn't very impressed by the lack of punch. When the food came, I was amazed at how much came for not that much money - LA JOBBEUSE (Bines home, sausage, potatoes, mustard, toast & jam, fruits & greenery). I could not finish it all, though I wanted. The lack of meat on the plate did not detract from the flavours of the platter - it wasn't pretending to be anything it wasn't (except for the sausage), and it hit the mark with every portion. The beans had a sweet savoriness that you expect from good beans, the salad was a great mix and not to mention incredibly fresh, the orange slice was Meh but nothing off-putting, the toast was made from large pieces of bread with a creamy (Sans cream) margarine, and the home fries had an umame that was accomplished without hurting any animals. Truly and surely, this was a carnivore's test, and I'm happy to have failed. Although I probably won't be giving up meat anytime soon, I could use a bit more guiltless brunch like this. Ps. This is a great spot to see the waterfront port, especially as the storm passes.

Sometimes it all comes together. The food. The service. The views. The location. The price. Such it is at Cafe Frida. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Café Frida. We had salads, four sandwiches, some of the local brew, and outstanding service throughout. Sarah, our waitress, was absolutely outstanding not only providing us with good recommendations for the restaurant, but also for things to see in the town of Trois Rivieres, but even in Quebec city, where we were headed next. You just don't find these experiences very often. We were able to sit out on the balcony and watch large ships, sail boats and even water skiing in the river while enjoying a wonderful homemade meals. I'd recommend without reservation.

This restaurant is seriously fantastic! Located right on the waterfront of Trois-Rivières at the end of a street full of attractive shops and businesses, Cafe Frida is a 100% vegan restaurant with gluten-free options, prepared foods/bottled beverages and service/menus in both French and English. I had the "bol frida" which was a delicious lunch and very satisfying. The vibe is very down to earth yet hip here, with great views of the water, people chatting and on laptops, outdoor patio seating, etc. The menu is really excellently conceived and these people definitely know what they are doing. The area immediately outside is perfect for wandering and sitting with your food to look at the river on a nice summer day. This place will definitely appeal predominantly to health food lovers. Also, parking was $1.50 for 30 minutes nearby so keep that in mind. I would definitely come back here to eat again!

My first critic of 2018. Cafe Frida is a nice hippy kind of café, the name Frida is well chosen for this sort of ambiance. Artzy with a young crowd mainly students. The location is facing the St Laurence river and is breathtaking. There is a good vibe to the place and the menu is vegeterian. Their coffee is very tasty. I had a cappuccino with coco milk, it was surprisingly delicious. If you're passing through Trois-rivieres make sure you make a stop it's worth the visit. Happy New Year 2018 Yelpers

They have a lot of delicious vegan offerings. Great coffee with almond, cashew, or soy milk. Great view of the river. Lovely people. Good music. Free wifi.

This place was very busy and it's worth the wait. Delicious breakfast in a cute cafe with Excellent…read moreservice. We shared eggs Benedict with salmon. It's not in the menu because it was left off accidentally. Big chunks of smoked salmon served with a little pickled onion and topped with a tart Hollandaise sauce. Served with a side of perfectly cooked and seasoned potatoes. I ordered the crepes served with berries and topped with a creamy sauce. It was great combination to share and we won't need to eat for a few days!

While the primary language was French, they graciously provided us service in English and were patient with us as we worked through the language barrier. The menu was amazing...great selection of meals. We can for breakfast and went immediately to the Benny menu because this was obviously a speciality. They took our order quickly and accurately. The cooks and kitchen staff were amazing. It was very busy as I said and even with everything going on the cooks got the food out quickly, accurately and wonderfully presented. The food was also wonderful! Both my son and I noted how perfectly the poached eggs were done, even considering how busy they were. It was one of the best benedicts I have ever had, without exaggeration. The mixed fruit on the plate was the absolute pièce de résistance! Our coffee was always full and the servers really took an interest in ensuring our visit was a great one. BTW...coffee is part of the breakfast price and is NOT extra. Amazing! Free wifi, great decaf coffee, and the 60's decor with the old fashion jukebox just finished it perfectly. Thank you for making our visit wonderful. If you are in Trois-Rivieres, this is the place to go!
