The food was pretty good here! It was very authentic in it's French flair but also casual. It's really a hybrid of causal and fancy. Escargot: This type of snail is a different type than I thought; I suppose it's the authentic version in France. It was cooked in a garlic butter sauce so it was super simple. Was there anything wowing about it? Not particularly. It was good but nothing screamed on either the super good nor bad spectrum. The gizmo they used to handle the snail was more interesting. Foi gras: It was such a chunky portion. It was thick and pretty hard to spread. And as such, the thing that could have made it better was if it was at room temperature. It was just a tad too cold and wouldn't spread too well on the toast. It was also really hard to really enjoy its full flavors. Also, the toast was more like it was on its way to being a crouton. The side of sauteed onions was also a very interesting accompaniment. French onion soup gratinated: This was the most flavorful thing in the world. We learned later that with the words "gratinated," it makes it a more authentic version with the cheese and bread atop of the soup versus just having onion soup. The Cantal cheese and how it crisped and infused with the bread was amazing. And the broth was also stupid crazy with flavor. The hubs was just wowed away when he sampled this. Beef tartare: There was a generous portion of the beef tartare. It was fresh in a way. It sort of looked like a pile of raw beef which technically it was. I enjoyed it, but the hubs really enjoyed this pick. The French fries and salad were so so sides. An interesting thing to serve alongside beer tartare IMO. I guess it's the French way! The food overall was good. Service was great. There was a good variety of food choices. There were plenty of lunch options to choose from that's a pretty good deal. read more

Good: Good neighborhood (Saint Germain), Bad: Bad ambience: brought the garbage can out on the dinner floor while we were eating, which is SO GROSS! It made us lose our appetite. We didn't want to tip but since it's Europe, the tip is included. They messed up my order that I said in French. They rushed us with our meal. Super sweet servers but it was like they were trying to close up at 9:00 when our reservation was at 8:00. Bummer. read more

Although it is near tourist areas, this quaint French restaurant gives you the experience of eating well like a local. My wife and I arrived to eat breakfast at 7:15 (which their doors and online said open at 7:00). We were told they did not open until 7:30. So we grabbed a coffee across the street and then returned to sit outside until they opened 5 mins later to eat breakfast with them. We were then rudely told by one of their servers that we couldn't sit in their chairs for the 5 mins until they opened. We did not stay to eat breakfast with them. This was by far our favorite breakfast cafe in Paris. We had amazing service and even more amazing food! The omelettes were cooked to perfection each time we went. They have an amazing mimosa served using freshly squeezed orange just and a slice of the orange as garnish. The cappuccinos we perfectly frothed and a welcome warm treat on some of the cold rainy mornings we came in. Cafe Madame was so good that my husband and I were discussing the need to return whenever possible throughout the entirety of our trip. To top everything off, it's located right by the Luxembourg Gardens which gave us a wonderful scenic morning walk after breakfast each day. Cafe Madame seems to me a neighborhood cafe located next to the Luxembourg Gardens. It was open when ai visited it late Sunday evening, and the staff was friendly. The food was decent, so were the beers on tap and the wine list. The price was reasonable too. read more

My first time in Paris and I was so excited to try this cute little cafe! The staff was so so friendly and tolerated my bad French :,) we were seated right away and quickly got our food. Everything was so delicious and I was just so happy to be there. This place was walking distance from our hotel which is so nice, although I did like to walk everywhere in Paris. Cute cafe in the 6th arrondissement - not far from the Jardin du Luxembourg. Came here after checking into our hotel for a quick bite. Food was delicious! We had the croquettes Madame and Monsieur. Came with frites and a side salad which were both very good! Came a second time for a snack and got the eggs with homemade mayo. They were ridiculously good. Definitely recommend! read more

Located just a couple of blocks from Luxembourg park. This cute little bistro sits on a very active street. On a sunny day almost everyone sits outside. Service is better than good. We were looking for breakfast near our Hotel. This restaurant was open fairly early and served omelettes. We ordered 2 ham & cheese omelettes and croissants with jam. We also order coffee and still water. The service was great and we thoroughly enjoyed our food. We really like the fluffiness of the omelettes. The croissants were also delicious. I only have one warning for you. My small bottle of Evian water was $5.60!!! I don't even pay that much at the airport for a bottle of water. Coffee was only $3. I did look up Paris tap water and it is great. So, make sure to ask for tap water and if you want bottled water please check the price. read more

A stroll farther down Rue de Vaugirard, coming from le Jardin de Luxembourg and on the corner of Rue Madame, is the aptly named Café Madame, a small bistro that invites its patrons with its sidewalk seating in true Parisian style and a sign proudly displaying the cafe's opening since 1806. The cafe, however, does not look dated, on the contrary, a brightly lit interior with contemporary fixtures and seating add to the resto's charm. The locals further adorn the outside seating; a collection of aging and young Parisians smoking and drinking the day away. The menu includes a small selection of starters, salads and main dishes, but the cafe announces its Assiettes as its specialty: composed plates that include salad and a component that varies depending on the assiette that's ordered. These were probably the most delicious offerings, our Assiette included toast with a pate, strong and bold flavors throughout that would have gone perfectly with a coupe de vin blanc. The Pavé de Saumon, accompanied by jazmin rice, was also a deliciously light plate. The ubiquitous Soup A L'Oignon could have been better, but it might be there only to appease the clueless tourists wandering in. En fin, a very commendable cafe in the 6th arrondissement, a quaint café to pass the time and take in this beautiful city. read more

We stopped for lunch at Café Madame yesterday after a long walk from Tour Eiffel to Luxembourg Gardens. Needless to say, we were famished! Our server was very welcoming and helped us with our meager French. We both had cheeseburgers and fries and the meal was delicious! At one point I knocked my fork onto the floor and our charming server had it picked up and a new one on my plate within five seconds.
