After a long day trekking the city, I wanted to find something on this side of town close to where I'm staying. After a brief period perusing GM, I settled on Cafe ONS. Looks to potentially be more of a social type setting for drinks potentially, but good nevertheless. Pleasant, cozy atmosphere full of awesome vibes! All the staff was super helpful and an all around pleasure! I opted for the Hamburger dinner, and it was a disastrous mess of tantalizing taste bud pleasure. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

We were a large party of nine on a Sunday night and Sam & Anya were wonderful! The food was delicious! Some of our favorites were the French Onion Soup, Escargot, Gambas al ajillio, Salmon, Ribs and the Mushroom Pasta! The bread and butter also very tasty. Ons also has a good selection of beer, wine and other drinks available. Highly recommend for location, tasty food, atmosphere and value for money.

I came here with a few friends and we had the greatest time! The service was great, the food was amazing, and the atmosphere was maybe our favorite part! There are cute lights and decorations everywhere, and the cat at the restaurant sat near us the whole night, which we loved! It was cold out, and we sat outside, but they had heaters, a fireplace, and blankets so we were nice and warm in their outdoor patio. I will definitely be back here. Such a fun and great find in the neighborhood!

This place was AMAZING !!! My boyfriend and I came here because it was a short walk from our hostel, and we were so impressed. Each time, the staff was so kind and overall you can tell how hard of workers they are. I come from California, so I am a big lover of little cafes and this place has a perfect atmosphere. I ordered the Strawberry Mojito and a Spanish Wannabe Pizza the first night, and they were SO GOOD (but the burger I got the next night I think took the cake, amazing!)! We loved it so much that we came back the next night, and we're sad to not be able to come a third time before we left. Barbara and Mick were so kind and really left an imprint on our hearts. If I ever find myself in the Netherlands again, I'm going out of my way to come back to this spot. If I could give this place more stars than 5, I would.

Was out wandering around, and feeling the need to stop and take a break and warm up on a chilly winter day. We stopped by Cafe ONS. This cozy neighborhood place has a cute outdoor area with a fireplace, as well as a few tables on the inside. Since it was cold out, we decided to go inside. The menu was fairly limited, but they have a number of different beers on tap. We took a table and we luckily found an English menu. Our server was great at making some suggestions, but in the end we decided to go with the Onion Soup and some fries. The Onion soup was great and the fries were hot and crisp. Not to mention the beer on tap was tasty as well. Overall, this is a fabulous neighborhood spot. Service is super friendly and prompt. Food and beer is wonderful and the coziness of Cafe ONS is perfect for a cold winter afternoon. I'm so happy we found this little spot.

Loved this swanky little place! Enjoyed the honey drizzled goat cheese, pine nut and spinach salad with delicious brown bread. Friend had the salmon with asparagus. Lovely wine and beers on draft. Great atmosphere and ambiance.

Winkel 43 is a legendary stop right on the corner of Westerstraat and Noordermarkt in the Jordaan,…read moreperfectly situated along the Prinsengracht canals and just a short walk from the Anne Frank House. While it functions as a cozy, traditional Dutch brown café, virtually everyone comes here for one main reason: the famous Dutch apple pie (*appeltaart*). It completely lives up to the reputation. Served warm with a massive dollop of fresh whipped cream, it's thick, perfectly spiced, and has an almost cake-like crust that sets it apart. Pairing a slice with a fresh mint tea is pretty much mandatory. Because of its status and location, it's almost always buzzing with people--especially on market days--but the staff manages the perpetual queue remarkably fast. Snagging a table on the outdoor terrace for some people-watching along the canal is hard to beat. Whether you're taking visitors around the neighborhood or just out exploring the Jordaan.

I'd say about 95% of the people were ordering the apple pie, so of course we had to get one to see what the hype was about. The apple pie is pretty unique, it's basically a big chunk of cooked apple topped with a sweet, crumbly cookie like crust. The flavor reminded me of those little brown biscuits you get as airplane snacks... basically Biscoff cookies. lol!!! Overall, you really taste the natural apple flavor along with that Biscoff like cookie flavor. The pie itself isn't very sweet, which I actually liked, but adding some whipped cream definitely brings up the sweetness and makes it even better. The setup is pretty straightforward: get in line, order and pay, pick up your food, then find your own seat. It's definitely a popular spot, so be prepared for the crowd and a bit of a wait.
