I loved how cute the coffee shop was with ground floor hang out zones, a first floor hang out zones, along with an outdoor hang out zones. I also loved how ordering was done at the table using a QR code. The no laptops rule was special too, encouraging chatter or just hanging out! Staff were super sweet and the coffee was excellent! Also, just enough apples inside without overwhelming it. This is exactly like the quality of pastries I've had all over France, but never get anywhere in the entire the Bay Area, with the exception of the Kouign Amann at B. patisserie in SF. I stumbled on this bakery while wandering this popular street, which by the way has quite a few Asian restaurants, as it's nearby Chinatown (which itself is not anything to speak of at all). There's also a book written about the restaurants and shops on this street, but this is NOT a touristy spot like so so many of the bakeries in Amsterdam. It's small and quaint with quality baked goods, not massed produced pedestrian food. Although the selections are fairly limited, what they have here is high quality baked goods. They're a very bread centric bakery, which is why I'm guessing their clientele is more local. I've seen locals coming in purchasing loaves of their freshly made breads. I tried their raisin bread and there were so many sweet rainsins in every slice! If you're putting a foodie list together for Amsterdam, definitely add the Apple Turnover here to your list. And bring along a little stash of cash, as they don't accept credit cards here. I'm literally off now to get one to happily start my morning again!
