This isn't just a place to fill up your tank; it's a genuinely pleasant pit stop that resets your travel mood. ​First, the cleanliness is always good. From the moment you pull up, the pump area is spotless--no overflowing bins or sticky residue, which is shockingly common elsewhere. More importantly, the restrooms are always clean. They clearly take hygiene seriously, which, for a traveler, or someone often taking road trips like myself, this is a huge sign of respect for their customers. ​The staff is for the most part has always been exceptional. Every employee I've encountered has been friendly, quick, and genuinely helpful. They engage with customers and seem to enjoy their jobs considering their friendliness. This makes my transactions fast and pleasant. ​Beyond the fuel (which is always priced competitively for the area), the amenities are top-notch. Their coffee bar is fantastic--freshly brewed, with a variety of syrups and creamers that rival a dedicated coffee shop. The selection of road trip snacks is vast, and they even carry a small selection of fresh, refrigerated sandwiches and fruit cups that are perfect for a quick, healthy lunch on the go. ​FiveStar is my default choice now as often as possible. It's consistent, clean, friendly, and efficient. It sets a standard for what a convenience store and fueling station should be. Highly recommend stopping here if you're in the area!

Bill had it ready to roll when I arrived and helped me get the cases to my van. The water was for the performer at the Bluegrass Hall of Fame and he just really likes this water in glass bottles. We need a few cases for the tour buses and very appreciative they had on hand. I wish I had time to explore the shop because it was top tier looking!! It stocks candy from yesteryear and current hot items, plus candied popcorn, fudge and yummy drinks as well as souvenir items. The Candy Castle is owned by this amazingly warm and friendly gentleman named Kevin. He is a fixture in the castle and we have visited in all seasons, including Christmas when Kevin does chestnut roasts (over an open fire!). And reasonably priced for all considering how rare it all is. They are only open on weekends so plan your trips accordingly, but I highly recommend the "cold hot chocolate" as an impulse buy at the cash register. Several hundred calories be damned - that was the best chocolate drink I've ever tasted! Also, you have to buy on site. Bummer. Although the experience suggests this to be mandatory, it would've been nice to pick up / order missed items online. They used to do this but it wasn't profitable so they expanded their on-site offerings instead. The host whose name escapes me was in for me to e and passionate about this store & its mission. Worth the trip - combine it with Santa Claus, IN trip to stores and there park for a well-rounded adventure!

Something very nice about this grocery store is that staff members always offer to transport your groceries to your car and load it into the vehicle for you.
