If you're in London visiting, make space to go here, you'll be taken back in time, I'm talking like a flashback to the 1920s. You definitely need to make a reservation beforehand. You get sent an email with the password you need at entry, it changes everyday. I remember when my husband and I came here, you were to show your reservation and give your name, the attendant will ask for the password then you're led down a bunch of stairs into another era. The staffs are all in character (attire and even jargon), interior confirmed heavily to the early 1900's (this even extended to the restrooms...they even had old school ads warning of syphilis haha), there were newspapers with old style print and content from time period, the place was dim lit with old school lighting and candles. We had a few drinks while here and they were alright, the vessels that they served them in was very unique and quirky. They also had some food items though we didn't order any. read more

Such a fun fun place! Came to London to celebrate my birthday and stumbled upon this location via Yelp. After reading reviews it turned in to a must stop on our trip. Definitely, make reservations. Since it's in a renovated train car, Space is extremely limited! You walk in and can check your coat with a lovely employee. The whole place is a bit dark, but so much fun. It has an old school speakeasy design, and menus are printed on newspapers to view. The vibe of the place was great, and the service was fantastic. Really interesting bar designed as an old railway car while serving a slew of styled drinks. Tuesday night, only a small line to get into this hard-to-find place, While waiting in line, several others got in through reservation (though even they had to wait a little bit). After about 20 minutes they were able to fit me in the bar section. Was a little surprised to find that there was no seating at the bar, with several patrons standing around the area. Nonetheless, proceeded to order a drink when the bartender had a moment. Wasn't sure what to get, so asked the bartender to make something with a good London-based gin. After a little back and forth, got served a gin and tonic with a fruit on top. Not much to call home about and wasn't nearly as strong for the price I paid (£11). I had also wanted to get some food but the bartender just handed me a check instead after serving the drink. Many years ago, on my very first night in London -- my friend's cousin invited me out to Cahoots! I was a fresh face fawn brand new in town. It was relatively easy to find and is in the heart of Kingly Court. If you can't find it -- the queue which is usually long as hell will help you find it. It was pretty long, we waited about 20-30 minutes. Luckily it wasn't that cold and everyone was well behaved. It moved fairly quickly so you're not dead in the water for the entire 20/30. The space was very cool. Well decorated and in theme. It's a wee bit crowded but Cahoots is wickedly popular. It was burlesque night. We got a table in the aisle area which was fab because all the acts ran to and fro. Drinks were average. And average cocktail price. The bar is more about the experience than the drinks. It was a fun time and I would recommend it for any newbies in town. It was a great start to my London life. read more

We came here after seeing Moulin Rouge to have a night cap and it didn't disappoint. I had The Judy Garland, a decadent drink with champagne, vodka and floral essence. This bunker style space transfers you back to the air raids of World War II where you had to choice but to seize the night because you didn't know what tomorrow would bring. This is my second review of the place and second time going, I travel to London for business from time time and love the cocktails and service here. Both are quite amazing. The bartenders are so capable and lovely and did such a great job lifting my spirit on a bad day. Both times I visited on Sunday where they had a piano sing along which was pretty fun. Cahoots is super fun. It's definitely one of those "secret" places where you've got to make a reso months in advance (no seriously) and it's just so exciting! At least it is for me, but perhaps that doesn't mean much. What-Ayer. You're taken downstairs and a hostess greets you and I like to think they're all as cute and lovely as the one we had. We were seated and your immediately overwhelmed with how AWESOME the interior is. Dimly lit with super cool music that takes you to another world and you are actually in what looks like an old tube station. There are a LOT of drinks and the menu is very creatively done. Yes, the drinks are expensive but I found them cheaper than the other location at Mr. Foggs. We were paying between £10-14 per cocktail, which is actually quite reasonable considering one of our friends dropped £25 on a single on at Mr. Foggs. But anyway, I really enjoyed The Spicy Rupee and their two chocolates drinks that were still quite strong. We had a lovely time and the waiter was great. Its an "experiential" type of bar, themed on the London underground, and set in the 20s/30s. Basement, so no natural light, and slightly claustrophobic as they pack in the tables. Cocktails are pricey - around the £12 mark - and they are tiny! There is live music at night, even weekday nights, which is great. The only thing is that they warn multiple times there is 1 hour per table rule, but in the end they allowed us to stay for over an hour and a half (we did order two rounds of drinks). Very easily the coolest bar I've been to in a while Think 1940, London underground; Wooden escalators, jazz music softly playing, wartime ads on the walls. I love this era, and cahoot's delivers it in spades. We tried to get in on a Tuesday around 8, but we're told that they were booked all through the night, and that we should make a reservation if we wanted to come another night. This turned out to be stellar advise, as the next free time was 1030 on a Thursday - and oh man am I happy we waited . Turns out that Wednesday through Saturday there's a live jazz trio, and they set the mood in the most perfect way imaginable. Our seats were located in the "tube car" as opposed to the platform, which seemed like the nicest place you could get (when booking they asked if there was any special occasion, I said engagement, which seems like it helped our placement). The menu is a "newspaper" that has a TON of drinks on it, my recommendation is the 40£ one to share (name esxapese) - it came in a med kit, with two little mugs, two ginger beers and some fog. Truly the coolest place , I highly recommend you make a reservation (so you don't get turned away like all the buzzed woo girls we saw trying to get in night after night), and make sure to dress on the nicer side to fit the theme. read more

This tube inspired speakeasy is one of the coolest places I've been to in London. I finally got to come her after months of wanting to and it was as exciting as I expected. When you go in you are supposed to say you are there to see the captain and then you are led to the underground station like ante room where you can leave your coats and bags for free before being taken to the trains. The girl at the front buzzes you in and you are led to your table by one of the waitresses in 50s style dresses. The menu is designed to look like a newspaper you would read on the tube and boasts 60 different cocktails. We were offered some help to choose our first one but afterwards we read the rest of the menu and tried a few throughout the night. The price is about £10 for each one so you may end up spending a lot of money. However they are great quality and I think they are worth it, especially compared to most cocktail bars where they are nothing special. The jazz/ swing music in the venue created a wonderful atmosphere and the rest of the train themed decor and wartime sandbags really makes you feel like you've gone on a night out in the past (feel free to pretend you're the doctor and have been time travelling). I absolutely loved this place and I want to go back and show it to all my friends. You should definitely go! read more

WOW. Wow oh wow oh WOW. After reading about this spiffing establishment in a Buzzfeed article, the bf and I were desperate to come here - a quick trip to London provided the perfect excuse and I am SO glad we did as we had a rather jolly old time. Now. Having (of course) read the Yelp reviews and discovered that if you want to go to Cahoots on a weekend night you have to book months in advance, we weren't very hopeful of getting in even on a Monday night. We found the entrance and were asked by the doorman to come back in 30-45 mins to see if he could get us in. He was so pleased/impressed that we actually came back that he ran downstairs and appeared again a few minutes later with a couple of "Day Passes" for us. We headed downstairs where the conductor 'checked our tickets' and - tally ho! - we were in! Upon entering we could see that it really was absolutely mobbed inside and were told it would be standing room at the bar only. We were so chuffed that we actually got in we didn't mind and set about perusing the menu, which comes in the form of a newspaper. Yes, the drinks were expensive, but we settled on a shot of Cahooch (their own mixture of various spirits, lethal!) and a beer for £10 - seemed like a pretty good deal to us, especially given how amazing the bar is! A few moments later one of the lovely staff members told us they did actually have a table that wasn't reserved and, still not believing our total and utter luck, we sat down and really took in what Cahoots is like. Besides a range of excited noises I can't quite convey in writing, I would describe Cahoots as properly, utterly magical! The 40s-themed music (bit of electro-swing in there as well, I do love me a bit of that!) really added to the feel of the place and I totally loved the tube-themed pieces they had on the walls and all around. The staff were absolute gems the whole time and I swear our waiter must've been psychic, as we were brought popcorn when we sat down (yuss!) and then he appeared at just the right moment with the food menu. I was on my second Cahooch and beer by this point, and had already had some Champagne cocktails before we went to Cahoots, so I was more than ready for some late-night grub! I ordered a spam and cheese toastie while the bf went for a crisp and salad cream sandwich. They arrived in wee ration tins which I naturally got very excited about, and I have to say that my toastie was honestly so delicious!! Yes, I had been drinking since 6 and this was now about 10.30 but it was honestly so good! The bf loved his sandwiches as well and we both just sat there with grins on our faces. One thing I would say to bear in mind is the radio playing in the toilets - when I was in I could just hear a guy speaking and (having had the aforementioned tipple) got SUCH a fright! As someone who thrives on things that are aesthetically appealing, Cahoots really hit the mark for me. The small underground bar has the perfect vibe for 1940's chic, from the coat check girl to the newspaper menus and the train carriage seating to the ambient wartime radio noise in the background. The cocktails are incredibly creative and really aim to hit as many of the senses as possible. The tea was particularly fabulous served in the classic English pot with burning lavender and icing sugar dusted on top! A little over the top but absolutely perfect in this setting! I love how everyone is dressed up and in character once you enter down the stairs to the underground to the waiting room (cloakroom) into the party in the captains chamber. We didn't manage to get a table on a Friday night (we were walk ins) but we did get to stand by the bar and watch the bar men expertly craft some of the most delicious cocktails I have ever tasted. I enjoyed this place. I think some people could have worked on their American accents a bit though. It was a speakeasy that was fashioned after a prohibition era American speakeasy. A lot of pun names for all of the drinks and basically exactly what you would expect. Get a reservation because allegedly they are always full, so much in fact, that they put a time limit on how long we could be there. Which in my opinion was pretentious but I get it, very small place with limited room... but still. They go all out with decoration and dressing up your drinks, I would say almost to a fault but ultimately that is what you are paying for; a quick escape. Some people even dress up to match the decor. THE VERDICT: I will let you decide if you want to go. It is definitely an experience but I wasn't as blown a way by it as my travel companions. It was more frills than substance but I still had a great 30-45 minutes that we were allotted there. Not a place I would need to go a second time though, but I was happy that I went at least once for the gram. read more

Loved it!!! After moving back to London from NYC I was so excited to find a Speakeasy! We didn't have a reservation, I didn't think it would be an issue at 6pm on a Sunday, but they were really busy and just as we arrived around 5 different groups with reservations turned up so we had to wait around 15-20 minutes to get it. To avoid disappointment I would suggest booking and I will definitely do so in the future. The bar was better than I could have imagined, they have train and tube seating, luggage trunks for tables and cool transport signs dotted around. They even looked to have a tube carriage on the far side of the bar from where we were sat. The menu comes in the form of a 1946 newspaper and there are so many cocktails to choose from, you will be spoilt for choice. They have lots of varieties as well, as sometimes these types of bars have a small menu of very whisky or pure alcohol cocktails to choose from, so I was impressed. The prices aren't too bad either. Note, they do add 12.5% service charge onto your bill as well. All the staff we met were super nice, our waitress decided to sing to us after we were complimenting our Vera Lynn cocktail. They also had a jazz band playing, which was enjoyable background music. The presentation of the cocktails was cool and quirky, although I did find them quite weak and tasted more fruity than alcoholic but I still enjoyed them. Maybe it was because the cocktails I chose were so packed full of ice. (I had the Vera Lynn & Road to Windsor?). You also get given complimentary popcorn at your table, which tasted great, but if you are after something more substantial then they do serve food as well. Another great point about Cahoots is that they can cater for groups of up to 8 people, which is unusual for a speakeasy, and they have pitchers of certain cocktails which you can get for the table. My expectations of getting in were justifiably low given the requirement to reserve online. I fronted up as a walk-in post show, and was told I would have to wait half an hour. I had no illusions about my good fortune. I stood at the bar and got plenty of attention from the three barmen on duty. The place was full - impressive for a Monday night. This speakeasy was one of the best we've been to and we've been to a lot. It's tricky to find, but once you locate the sign you'll find a doorman letting people in. Once inside, the atmosphere is wonderful with a very 40s vibe. The bartenders are absolute magicians and make some of the most elaborate and well-balanced cocktails you will every find. Super cool spot for a few drinks! We stopped in here after dinner at The Diner around the corner. It's literally just a door - we missed it a few times actually. We didn't have a reservation, but they let us down anyway to stand at the bar. After about 20 minutes, the hostess offered us a table but we loved the bartender so much we stayed by the bar. We each got about three different bartender created concoctions. All prohibition inspired beverages, and very different than our usual wine and beer choices. Gosh the decor is just so retro ! I love it! and I don't know if the waitresses are bored impersonating the 70s , from their hairstyle, to their make up, outfit and what they say! The website says reservations are recommended but not required as they will try to seat you regardless, which is kind of misleading because when we visited, there were a couple groups of people they had to turn away because they had no reservations and/or the wait was simply too long. So first thing first, make reservations if you want to visit Cahoots. This place is a little difficult to find, by default. If you're on Kingly Street, you'll see 12 Kingly Street, Kingly Court, 14 Kingly Street. You won't see 13 Kingly Street, but Google Maps will take you to Kingly Street even though Cahoots' address is 13 Kingly COURT. So take heed, go through the corridor to Kingly Court, make a right and you'll see the Underground Tube sign about 100 feet away to the left. That's the entrance. Once you get there, you're supposed to give them the secret phrase that's painted on the door or in the reservation email you receive. The decor was well-appointed; it really created the feeling of an underground Prohibition-era meetup drinking place. But almost all establishments in London are well-decorated. The menu is printed on faux newspaper format and the selection is extensive, considering it's the Prohibition and all. The service was friendly and relatively quick, by London's standards. The drinks were tasty and the alcohol was reasonable. There was a small menu for food but we just snacked on the complimentary popcorn. All in all, it was pretty fun to visit Cahoots at least once. read more

Now normally he is pretty fussy r.e food and drink but even he loved it! Situated in kingly court it is themed completely around the 1940's with decor and waiters keeping up the charade. Decked out as an old underground station with boothed seating it is a truly awesome experience. I was lucky enough to make it to Cahoots for a reunion with the girls from London Cocktail week - getting a table here is tough, reservations are a must! Cahoots is a great experience, walking past the 'To the Trains' sign was the first piece of the 1940's theme. It really looks like you are entering an old tube station - all dressed with the original 40's fixtures. They've even recreated a tube carriage inside, with booth seating for groups. The menu is an amazing themed paper with the cocktails grouped together like articles, and they are all very different and exciting, with fun names like Keep Marm' and Carry On, the White Cliffs of Dover, Apple and Pears. We tried the Vera Lynn served in a mug that is a khaki bust of her head... topical... I also enjoyed the spiced rum cocktail - very tasty and have to have a taste of my friends hot buttered rum - I've never had it before and this was truly delicious, everyone wanted to try it! We worked our way through a selection of the cocktails between the four of us. I would definitely go back for more, but I wouldn't get the food - delights such as authentic spam sandwiches await you! Unfortunately we left before the live music started - however we saw the girls all dressed up and getting ready to start the show, shame we missed the Hotsie Totsies - what a great name! Cahoots was recommended to me by a couple different friends. I kind of looked into it and was excited but it wasn't top of my list. BUT holy cow, did this place blow my expectations out of the water. Similar to Sketch, Cahoots is an experience from service to food+drink and amazingly creative atmosphere. When showing up at the poorly marked location (for the underground WWII bar theme of course), the bouncer did a wonderful job of hassling me. He wanted to know if I was ready to become a scoundrel and had to let the "captain know I was coming." At first it was like semi "this is cute" but then he gave me so much lip I was like, "this is awesome!" The place is decorated perfectly. It has this eclectic, throw-back, boho vibe and it's amazing. My favorite touch? The menus! They're huge and printed cover to cover on a newspaper. The literally look like a vintage newspaper. It's amazing. It's a little crowded but still a lot of fun. It's more of a cocktail place then food but they have some awesome filling snacks. We tried at least half the food menu, it was all great. Loved their charcuterie board. The drinks are pricey but nothing too crazy. All in that £15 range and amazing. They do not hold back at all. The drinks are served in some of the most unique glasses I've ever seen and garnished with excessive amounts of herbs. 10/10 on taste and presentation. I'm waffling, folks: 3 or 4 stars? I'm settling on 3, old chap*! Here's why! I think Cahoots has jumped the shark a little. It was GREAT when it first opened - a WWII bunker-themed cocktail bar reminiscent of immersive theatre with employees dressed and a-chattering away in old timey lingo? What ho, I'm on board! - but by the time of this review (April 2017) it was...hard to get a reservation and, when secured, surrounded by try-hard couples and stag dos. No, no, I'm being harsh. That's not quite fair. But it's...well...partially fair. The drinks were inventive and different from the average "negroni, please" at a lot of other cocktail bars. The lighting was dim and atmospheric, and a lot of the details are clearly very well thought out. Like, say, the piped in audio in the bathrooms that brings me right back to the 1940s. Or the e-mail confirming the reservation that is written in (almost eyerollingly on-theme) historically accurate lingo. Despite these things - affordable creative drinks, interesting venue - something just didn't click for me. Visited Cahoots for the first time in November 2015. My boyfriend and I got all gussied up and ready for a fun night, only to find the theme a bit more... tampered down than we were expecting. Most of the people attending are dressed casually or in cocktail attire. It's really all over the map. So keep that in mind when you go and just dress as you feel comfortable. The drinks are good, STRONG and diverse. I had a sweet one, an earthy one and a tangy one -- all good, but be ready to grit your teeth for some strong drinks. Not that I'm complaining. The service was EXCELLENT. Not too distant, and very knowledgeable. Definitely let them lead you if you're overwhelmed by the menu, because it's quite comprehensive. The first drink I ordered on my own was a bit of a disappointment, but the next two I like the server choose for me and they were amazing. Keep in mind that the bar will be slow, as your complex cocktail is probably 15th in line behind 14 other complex cocktails. Glad I went, it was a good night. Really wanted to LOVE this place, but it was a bit much for me. We were looking for a nightcap and stumbled upon this place through yelp so we thought we would give it a try. We waited for thirty minutes outside and spent $40 on 2 drinks that were the equivalent of maybe four sips. Be aware that the music is also very loud as well so talking to people are your table is a challenge. Staff was super nice but not sure if I will return. If you have the money I say spend it, but there are plenty of other speakeasies in London that have been worth our while thus far. read more
