Watered down Tabasco just nasty !
Crystal C.

Food was ok ... I have been here before and the place was very good but for some reason today was TERRIBLE! My son ordered the buffalo chicken bites and it was NOT BUFFALO... very much a sweet BBQ sauce... my partners hamburger steak was unseasoned when usually it's very flavored I'm not sure what's going on today but I asked for hot sauce and the young man brought me and my son watered down Tabasco sauce my shrimp was good ! At least my shrimp and our fries were delicious ... They need to get condiments and clean the caps of them ! But yes this Tabasco was very nasty

Mushroom burger & onion rings

Best post-pandemic steak I've had. Service was excellent. Food was cooked perfectly to order. Fresh salad with excellent dressing. Portions were generous. Prices are reasonable. I will be back.

Ask for seating in the back - inside either of the jail cells or in between as shown here. Cahoots in Fayetteville, TN

Jail house food?,,, Not! Jail house experience?,,, Why not?!! ;D Cahoots, formerly an old jail house and fire station, now a restaurant which maintains a few jail cells in its original condition. It also sports a logo quite similar to Cheers. Remember that one?! 8) Anywhooo, the food here is alright, but it's the experience that draws most. Back in mid October, our group of 16+ photogs were seated in the reserved jail cells. There were two tables in each of the two jail cells with one table in between. Dark, tight quarters, but it was a fun dining experience. Customer service is super friendly and fast. While here, be sure to check out the photos on the walls as they capture its original essence. This is the place to visit if you like history and desire to dine in one of the jail cells. Don't worry. It won't be your last meal. ;D 4 stars for the historic jail cell ambiance and experience. 3 stars for the food. 4 stars for the customer service.

Use to be a jail back in the day. Cool history

Salt & pepper shakers are greasy, almost slide out you hand. Disgustingly filthy, which explain dim lighting. Staff friendly but slow.

Cool atmosphere, not so great food. Average generic food you can easily get at any restaurant.

After totally wiping out on lunch options in Lynchburg, I started on the drive home and decided I'd…read moreeat in Fayetteville instead. Ken's Fast Foods wound up being the call. I wasn't disappointed! This is a smaller, older looking restaurant. They were busy even for a late lunch around 2 PM. There's not a ton of parking and some of it is on an incline, but it worked out okay for me. Inside there are about 6-7 small tables and a spot to order at the counter. The menu consists of classic American fast food options, like burgers, chicken tenders, and fries. It reminds me a little bit of a drive-in spot just because it is so nostalgic-feeling. The service was spot-on and so nice. The ladies working were beyond pleasant and helpful and many seemed to know the local customers quite well. My food came out quickly and was nice and hot. I ordered a bacon hamburger and a side of fries. Portion sizes here are pretty reasonable and appropriate for the lower price, though if you come with a big appetite I would recommend getting a double or something. Fortunately, I didn't need a huge meal that late in the day, so I was happy with my order. The burger was cooked nicely, the bun was soft, and the bacon was flavorful and crispy if not particularly thick-cut. The fries had a lot of gooey-hot potatoey insides and went well dipped in ketchup. Simple, fast, and tasty food here! I'd recommend and would visit again if I find myself back in the area.

If you are unfamiliar with Fayetteville, it sits on the Tennessee and Alabama border. It is just north of Huntsville, Alabama and maybe an hour and a half south of Nashville, Tennessee. Hwy 55 is smaller burger chain that started in North Carolina back in 1991 as Andy's Cheesesteaks and Cheeseburgers. In 2012, the business wanted to expand beyond the state of North Carolina and opted to change the restaurant's name to Hwy 55 Burgers, Shakes & Fries and began their expansion outside of North Carolina when they opened their first location outside of North Carolina in May of that year. They have over a hundred locations now, though they are still strongest in North Carolina. The menu is pretty straightforward with burgers, cheesesteaks, fries, milkshakes and the other items that you would expect from a fast casual burger place trying to capture a 1950's type diner feel. There is nothing wrong with such a simple menu. Hey, who doesn't love a good burger. For a rating, I am going to give this particular location of Hwy 55 Burgers, Shakes & Fries five stars. While I would not normally give a place like this five stars, I am doing so because of its location in Fayetteville, Tennessee, which certainly needs more restaurant locations and a bigger variety of restaurants. Hwy 55 Burgers, Shakes & Fries is a wonderful option for a quick meal in a place with not enough dining options.
