Decided to try Cahoots for lunch. I was surprised to be placed on a waitlist. We were told it would be 20-30 min but thankfully we waited barely 10 mins. The ambiance was energetic and had a home vibe. My wife and I shared a 1/2 onion ring 1/2 fried pickle basked appetizer and a BLT with shoestring French fries. The onion ring and pickles were incredibly delicious. The bacon on the BLT was nice and chewy yet crispy with a nice subtle smoky taste. Definitely a fan and will be back again. read more

We ordered the appetizer with Buffalo Wing Bites and Fried Mushrooms. The mushrooms were fine, but the wings were chewy and covered in barbecue sauce not buffalo sauce. I ordered the popcorn shrimp and baked potato. the popcorn shrimp was tiny and clearly frozen. The baked potato was basically just sour cream. My boyfriend ordered a steak with broccoli and fries. He said the steak was good but his broccoli was brown. The plates were dirty, the bathroom was dirty, and there was flies flying around everywhere. We told the waiter about our food and she took mine off. A manager came out and said it wasn't their fault we ordered food we "didn't like." Everyone told us this was a great place to eat but we were greatly disappointed. If you're traveling, save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. read more

Food was ok ... I have been here before and the place was very good but for some reason today was TERRIBLE! My son ordered the buffalo chicken bites and it was NOT BUFFALO... very much a sweet BBQ sauce... my partners hamburger steak was unseasoned when usually it's very flavored I'm not sure what's going on today but I asked for hot sauce and the young man brought me and my son watered down Tabasco sauce my shrimp was good ! Good little stop passing through. There was 4 of us and we were seated pretty quickly. Service was friendly and attentive. 2 of us had ribeyes and 2 of us had prime rib. It all looked good and the portions were true and plentiful. My prime rib was good and the ribeyes looked great and my friends said they were really good. Salad was good but simple. If I'm in this area again I'll probably try it again. And yes, it's an old jail converted to a restaurant. A lot of personality in building. It's a good stop. read more

Jail house food?,,, Not! Jail house experience?,,, Why not?!! ;D Cahoots, formerly an old jail house and fire station, now a restaurant which maintains a few jail cells in its original condition. It also sports a logo quite similar to Cheers. Remember that one?! 8) Anywhooo, the food here is alright, but it's the experience that draws most. Back in mid October, our group of 16+ photogs were seated in the reserved jail cells. There were two tables in each of the two jail cells with one table in between. Dark, tight quarters, but it was a fun dining experience. Customer service is super friendly and fast. While here, be sure to check out the photos on the walls as they capture its original essence. This is the place to visit if you like history and desire to dine in one of the jail cells. Don't worry. It won't be your last meal. ;D 4 stars for the historic jail cell ambiance and experience. 3 stars for the food. 4 stars for the customer service. read more

A whole bunch of nope. Bad salad, worse appetizer, and terrible steak. The house salad is shredded iceberg, shredded cheese, and diced tomatoes. No other veggies and 1/4 of the lettuce was brown and wilted. The fried pickles were overcooked to the point they could be broken in half. My steak was cooked to temperature however, it was seasoned with so much Dale's seasoning it was inedible. Who puts Dale's on a steak? The sauteed veggies which accompanied my steak were slimy. It took 24 minutes for the app to come out after an average wait time for the table. We did not eat our salads, appetizer, or entrees. To top it off, we spent the evening keeping flies off our food. Service was timely with refills and polite. She noticed we did not eat but said nothing and billed us for the entire meal. During our long wait she kept apologizing for the kitchen being backed up. We did see that some tables did enjoy their meal. The floor needed a good vacuum and two of our four plates were dirty. The bus boy was carrying away dirty dishes and would return from the kitchen with meals to deliver. I can't speak to whether not not he washed his hands in between. This was our first/last experience at Cahoots. I can't tell you if this is commonplace or if they had a bad night. May the odds be ever in your favor... read more

Can't even get in the place at 5:30 on a Thursday. Apparently you have to be an elite in the know to try and eat without a reservation. Ridiculous management of walk in vs reservations. Such a turn off. read more

I dont understand how this place only has 3 stars. I did hear that it used to not be so good, but my husband and I have been maybe 3 times in the past 6 months and it has been great everytime! The atmosphere is awesome. The restaurant is located in the old jail, where you can dine in the actual jail cells. Graffiti from customers cover the walls. The food is always so good that I ALWAYS overeat until I'm in pain. Their hours are a little weird so make sure you look at their hours before planning a trip! read more

I was in Fayetteville on business and looking for something that was not fast food. The options were limited, so we decided to try Cahoots. Atmosphere was average but the history of the building and the jail cells were very cool. The food was excellent. Had the prime rib and it was perfect along with the large baked potato. We just went to eat and they have i kid you not 9 tables that i can clearly see empty and she looks and looks for 3 minutes and says we don't have anywhere we can seat you it'll be an hour to 2 hours.... we wait 10 more minutes to see all these reservations come and no one shows up... Wound up waiting for an hour l, was told our table was ready then after waiting for several more minutes was told it wasn't actually ready and we were seated at the bar instead, with a direct view of the ladies bathroom, door to the bathroom open the entire time. Waited another 20 minutes before even having our order taken, despite 3 different servers walking by. One hr and 5 minutes after being seated at the bar (over two hrs since we first walked in the door), we had to ask for our food and it was finally brought out. I had the smothered chicken.....very tough and you could still see the square outline of the sliced cheese. Husband ordered a ribeye steak cooked medium and it arrived very tough and cooked well done. The lady seated next to us received her food cold and when she requested something be done to warm it up, it took a conference between two servers before they could decide what to do. This was the worst restaurant we've ever eaten at. We will never return and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. We paid our bill without finishing any of our food and left. I was in the city for business and was told to stop by Cahoots (Jail House). We went for lunch, and at first it seem kind cool, old looking place, specially the jail private dinning areas. However, once I saw the menu, I was convince that it wasn't that great of a place because of their so normal choices. The plates that were given out for our appetizer were clear plates, greasy, they definitely didn't look too clean. I had to clean up mine with a napkin. It took some considerable time to get our meal and at the end the experience wasn't all of that. One time visit was enough. read more

I'm going to give Cahoots 3 stars because I would describe it as "average." Indeed, the ambiance is different-we ate in a jail cell. I had the burrito supreme. It was nothing special and I wouldn't order it again. I believe it had canned refried beans. The portion of beef was way too small but most importantly, the burrito was not warm. My dining companion had the rib eye sandwich and she said it had "little bits" of tasty but not plenteous beef on a bun with lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise. Another dining companion ordered the Reuben sandwich. All he did was grunt and devour without comment his sauerkraut and corned beef lunch. So I'm going to take that as approval that it was good. Frankly, we could have stayed home and made these meals. Restaurant meals need that little something special that you can't get at home to be winners. What was special about this place was the staff who were friendly and helpful even talking proudly about their home town. I was honestly appalled by my whole experience here. First we were greeted by a woman who showed no interest at all in our arrival, then it took ten minutes to have our order taken, even though only two other tables were still waiting on food at the time and the waitress passed us six times without looking once at my table. When the food came it turned out to be very possibly the worst burger I've eaten in an astonishingly long time. The meat was dry and tasteless. The pre-frozen fries were undercooked. 5 out of 5. Cahoots is one of my favorite places in town, and it makes me sad to see how negative a few of the reviews are. 1) The building all-together is amazing! If you go there, ask for a cell in the back! It's so cool! 2) I've read other comments about the carpet, and I don't understand why a person would give a lower rating just because the carpet is old! Who cares?! I've also seen comments about the kitchen.. and all I have to say about that is, What's it to you? You shouldn't be snooping around the kitchen and you would only see it when walking to the bathroom. Cahoots has the old look to it and people need to accept it. It's supposed to look that way! Not every restaurant needs to be painted up in bright colors. Anyways, I think if you're reading this you should try Cahoots. You won't be sorry. read more

Cahoot's does not serve lemons with water or tea. They give you lemon juice packets. They do not put real bacon on potato skins, salads, or other items. They put fake bacon bits on them. They do not serve deli meat on their sandwiches. It is processed lunch meat like the cheap Carl Buddig brand in the grocery store. They do not make home made dressings or sauces. Everything is out of a jar, can, or box. Basically they distribute food that is probably not as good as from a concession stand at a high school football game. The only draw to this "restaurant" is that it used to be an old jail. I just don't get it. read more
