Paying the concierge fee is absolutely worth it for the peace of mind it gives me as a first time Mom. I can message the MD on the portal or, today, after my daughter had a fall, I was able to get a telehealth appointment in 7 minutes! It reinforced how great this place is. The office is also in a great, central part of Santa Monica.

If you're a parent looking for a pediatrician,…read moreplease read: To all of the doctors and staff at 10th St. Pediatrics, Our son Oliver is a patient of Dr. Stern. Today he had his first severe injury, a laceration to his face. He fell while playing and his head began to bleed profusely. We immediately called the office. As it turns out Dr. Stern was the physician on call. What transpired was disappointing and scary. When we explained the situation we were shocked that the voice on the other end of the phone, this person who was there the day our son was born, had zero empathy and offered no help. "Go to an Urgent Care or an Emergency Room." The little help offered was a phone number to a pediatric Urgent Care facility, which I had to call Dr Stern back while my son bled because she gave us the wrong number. This time she sounded simply annoyed that we were bothering her. Thankfully a friend of ours is a patient at Dr. Jay Gordon's office and he graciously called to offer his assistance. He asked us to text him pictures of the wound, walked us through several options, one of which included a plastic surgeon who would come to our house so we could limit any contact with Covid patients. Again, he is not our doctor but still asked us to call him after to let him know how things went. It's now 9:30pm, 9 hours since our initial call to Dr Stern, and nothing. Not a text or a call to ask, how is my patient? Does he have a concussion? Did he need stitches? The answer is, yes. He did. The world is so scary right now and we truly believed Tenth St. Pediatrics was a place we could feel safe and that would help us if we were ever truly in need. Today that idea was dispelled and as much as I don't want to sound mellow dramatic, it was heartbreaking. There was so much more Dr. Stern could have done to help even if should couldn't apply the stitches. While our son bled profusely on our kitchen floor we felt abandoned. Besides the bills we pay for visits, isn't that what the extra $500 a year was suppose to get us? Someone who would be there for us if we were ever in need after hours? I don't know who will read this or if anyone in the office will care, but we will not be coming back there. We will make sure no one we love or care about doesn't hear this story before they consider Tenth St. Pediatrics for their child. But most of all we hope the partners at your practice will consider this email and learn from it. We put our children's lives in your hands and have faith that you will be there for us in our time of need. Sometimes we don't just need doctors, we need healers.

He has a wealth of knowledge and is so thorough, listens to my concerns and answers all of my questions - questions I've already spent countless hours looking up online and in books and his answers always give me reassurance I've made the right decision having him as my child's doctor. I drive across town just to see him - with LA traffic that says a lot! The women at the front desk are beyond wonderful! Sweet and professional, know us by name, call to remind us of our appointment and accommodating. Office is always clean and quiet. There is a parking garage as well as metered parking. Overall a fantastic experience. If you are looking for a new pediatrician I can't recommend him enough!

He takes pride in providing his patients with the most attentive care possible. He will spend as much time as you need answering questions during an exam, he follows up with phone calls to see how your child is doing, he responds to questions via text, and he always calls us back right away when we have an emergency or urgent matter after business hours. His office is also amazingly beautiful providing a calm comfortable place for kids. We have to pay out of pocket to see Dr Kagan but it is worth every penny knowing that the health and well being of our kids are in his hands. We only started seeing Dr Kagan when our first son was 3. He immediately diagnosed a diaper rash as a bacterial infection and our poor son had been suffering from this for years as none of his other doctors could correctly identify the problem (and we tried various other remedies with no results). It cleared up in less than a week and our son was so much happier. That experience alone solidified our belief that our kids would go to Dr Kagan no matter what. When our second son was born he had a fairly bad case of jaundice. The nurses at the hospital wanted me to keep him in a machine under lights away from me all day and night. Thanks to Dr Kagan's expertise, follow up, and persistence, I was able to nurse my baby and hold him with me for more than 20 hours each day. Having him beside me in that time was invaluable! Another thing that makes Dr Kagan amazing is that he doesn't preach or condemn one ideology or parenting style. He sees his job as keeping your child safe and as healthy as possible. He will work with you and what you feel is best for your baby and your family. He believes in a healthy mix of natural remedies and western medicine. He advocates strongly for vaccines but will offer an alternative schedule. He is willing to take a wait and see approach if you don't want to use antibiotics but he will also recommend them when he feels they are definitely necessary. I can't say enough good things about Dr Kagan...he is just simply the best pediatrician that I know!
