Leah's reviews from her previous residence in California were amazing; I called her and she answered almost first ring. I provided the specifics on what I was looking for, and she indicated that everything was no problem: gluten-free, buttercream frosting, pink writing and piping, 2-layer round. I gave her several days notice that she said was plenty of time. Fast forward: the day of pickup we met to give me the cake. Claimed to be on a delivery, took my number and promised to call back. Well she never called back, left me hanging and waiting all day. She also never called the next day, so right off the bat I can see how important my business is to her. If she is willing to drop the ball while I'm trying to give her business, I can only imagine what it would be like when she does not come through when it really counts, like on the day of a special event. I was very disappointed in the quality of the baked goods I received from Leah of Cakery Couture. I ordered a two tier cake, cupcakes and cake pops that were delivered almost 2 hours after the agreed upon delivery time. She had asked if she could come earlier than the time I had requested 2 months earlier when I placed my order. At the time she told me 3 pm was not a problem since she had nothing else scheduled that day. As the event grew closer, she asked if she could deliver earlier and I agreed. Not only did she deliver earlier as she requested but arrived 1.50 hours after the original time I had requested. My event had already started and our dessert table was empty and I had guests having to make way for her to bring the items in. That was embarrassing to say the least. In addition, the cupcakes were over cooked, to the point that the bottoms tasted and smelled burned. The cake pops were the WORST...falling apart, and the design was not at all what we agreed upon. I was embarrassed to display them. The cake was average in taste but nicely decorated. I gave her two stars because she was easy to work with during the planning, ordering and design process. Otherwise I would have given her 1 Star. In the end, after delivering very late and the pops being less than presentable, and burnt cupcakes, her resolution was to reduce $20. Off of a $320.00 order. I hardly think that was equitable and had it not been in front of my guests, I would have argued that amount. I strongly suggest, if you are going to do business with Cakery Couture, only pay a small deposit and leave the bulk of the bill to be paid at time of delivery and be sure to check any cupcakes for how they are cooked before you pay. read more
