Before the start of every single session he would ask how are you doing today to ensure he can address any issue you may have that particular day before starting. He does not want you to aggravate any injuries (he would also get on my case for over stretching due to my existing injuries haha). But a big thing for him is to instill having the right technique. Outside of the gym, he would text you the workout of the day, so you can track progress, tries to hold you accountable for having the nutrition, sleep, and would be very responsive to text or call anytime. The only knock on him is it's too bad he can't observe me on every single rep but that's because I signed up for his cheaper group session rather than 1 on 1 in which he also offers.

But this is not a gym; it is a training facility where you work with trainers to tackle your physical goals. Next, this is about my trainer, Kevin Abandy. Kevin has been my trainer for exactly 8 weeks now and he is awesome! I made the decision to get a trainer after my birthday to truly invest in myself. You can invest in your own skills and education, but the return is almost always indirect. But with a trainer, specifically Kevin, I gained 8 lbs of muscle mass and lost 8% body fat (approx. 13-lbs of fat) after 8 weeks of training with him. Also, at the start of my training, I had back pain (from past injury to T12) and knee pains (from under the kneecap). Through Kevin's program and coaching, my pain has been reduced to near 0 with full mobility -- like squatting all the way down and up with 200-lbs of weight on my shoulders with no knee pain. I would give a 1-star review to keep it from getting crowded, but it would be hard for me to not tell others about the good that comes out of this place. My mom is 70 and she's training with Kevin too! And the story is the same for her... knee pains - GONE. Back pains - GONE. I would have never considered myself "overweight" but knew I needed to lose a few pounds. I've tried the traditional membership gyms but always found that I would lose interest or motivation. When I started inquiring about personal trainers, Mia was very prompt at answering. During our consultation I did a body fat scan and was shocked to find out that I was nearly 25%. We talked and I learned that it was less about the weight and more about body composition and fat/muscle percentages. Due to my work schedule we were able to meet twice a week for an hour a session. Mia adds good variety to our workouts and I definitively know that I push myself more during our sessions that I normally would have if I were doing the workouts by myself. She also places an emphasis on nutrition and offers advice on what to eat and what to stay away from. The last couple of years my diet has gotten progressively worse, and she's been a great help in getting me back on track. I was going through such a tough tough time both mentally because of the loss and physically from being pregnant. I had done everything from boot camp, yoga, and cycling. You name it, I've done it. While checkin out my friends posts and stories on Instagram, I kept seeing posts for a facility that opened up in Chino Hills, Self Made Training Facility with Pablo from Ambitious Fitness. I contacted him and the rest is pretty much history. Myself, my husband, niece, nephew and son all train with Ambitious Fitness. Best things about Ambitious Fitness: 1) Pablo and his team (and I mean every single one of them) are incredibly passionate and love what they do, and it totally shows in their energy and the way they carry themselves. 2) They have this amazing ability to push you beyond what you think you can do. You would have never thought that this Asian girl who only played badminton and piano as a sport could deadlift 275lbs. 3) They make sure you will achieve your goals and get results. My results: Being only 125 lbs in college, it was hard to believe I would get to as much as 168lbs and 36% body fat, but I did.
