    So much to sniff
    Kristin M.

I took my dog for a nice little walk at the water reclamation district in Worth and stumbled across the cal-sag trail. I've heard of it before but have never actually been on the trail. The part I was on was clean and I think I saw two other walkers. From where we were we (meaning my dog and myself) could hear the water but not actually see it. Nice place to go for a walk or take a run.

Kapsa Monument Co did a beautiful monument for me and my late husband a few years ago and placed it…read morein a Hillside cemetery. The monument has a vase on each side. Recently one of the vases has become loose. I've tried to reach out to Kapsa a few times. No one ever answers the phone. I've left 3 messages in over a week and half stating my issue and asked for the favor of a reply. I've yet to hear back from Kapsa. This monument wasn't cheap. I've reached out to two other monument companies in the area in the meantime and they are willing to help but say Kapsa should stand behind their business and take care of this. If they can or can't, either way the courtesy of a reply is expected for such an expensive monument. I can't rate them good in the service area as they are non responsive.

Buyer beware. This place is absolutely awful. They will screw you on the contract and they are very…read moredisrespectful. They will intentionally and purposely omit IMPORTANT and KEY things from the contract, and this can screw you in the end. When I caught these items, owner refused to correct them. Here they are: 1.) They verbally said that ALL inscriptions and design are included in the price, but when you get the contract it does not say this, and when you ask the owner to add, he refuses. Don't ever sign the contract unless they clearly write in text that ALL inscriptions and design are included in the headstone price, just like they verbally say. 2.) Draft of the drawing, design, and inscriptions was not attached. How else will you know what the heck you are getting?!?!? Don't accept without this! 3.) Full names of the deceased were omitted. This contract is also combined into the application for the cemetery. Are we just trying to get the cemetery office to guess? 4.) Memorialist didn't sign the cemetery contract on the back, which is required before you can even place any headstone in the cemetery. The cemetery has its own rules which we all have to agree to. We don't own the cemetery. These are all normal procedures for all cemeteries. 5.) Approximate date of delivery was missing. You can't just put a season like spring or summer. The owner was very disrespectful. When trying to resolve this in a calm manner, he talked over me. I tried talking to the owner nicely on the phone, but all he did was hang up on me. Avoid this business, and go to others in the area that will: actually put in writing what they say verbally, are willing to actually fill out a contract completely, and treat you with respect. After all, if you are paying them thousands of dollars for a headstone, I would think that you would at least have the above taken care of. This place is absolutely awful. STAY AWAY.

The library always is clean or at least you would hope it is, no books on the floor always nicely on a shelf. The last time I was at the library was to see Rick Kogan at the library. He and Charles Osgood have come to the library to have talk and show pictures taken, and a couple of time they had copies of their books Sidewalks and Sidewalks 2. And I have a copy of each book autographed by them. They have a website where they update when they have kid and adult programs, they show both kids and adult movies. The 2nd Wednesdays of the month they have a brief discussion about a book, and then they show the movie that it is based on at 2:00 P.M. And they update on the website what movie will be shown, not that they I have attended. And then ever so often if scheduled they show a kid's movie on Saturday afternoons which will be updated on the calendar. They also have movies to rent, but I am not totally sure how many dvds are in their collection, but they charge $1.00 a dvd to check out, and if you turn the movie back late, the overdue fee is $2.00 per day. Which just shows you that you don't want to get a movie back late. But they let you keep the movie out for a week, and plus you get to take it out in the dvd case, and not another box that they have it in like you might find in any video stores that are still in business. Personally if I wanted to see a movie, I much rather get it from Netflix, where I can keep it out as long as I want to and no late fees. And of course they have plenty of books kids and adults that you can check out for free, but and I am not totally sure about it, so please do not quote me on it, but I think their late free for books are 10 cents per day. They are normally open for 6 days a week, Mondays thru Saturdays, and they are closed on Sundays, and major holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. And you get to keep the books for 2 weeks which I would believe just as much time as any other library. But I can't remember the last book I ever checked out of the library, which is okay for me because I am not a big reader of books.

There are a lot of fun games, though too many in the pure slot machine category (where "playing" consists of just winning a random amount of tickets rather than laundering the gambling through a game of skill), but the prizes available are actually reasonably cool and the number of tickets you need to win them is merely exorbitant, rather than sheer robbery. They also have a satisfactory fast food thing onsite (pizza, chicken tenders, etc.) and a surprisingly deep array of outdoor options -- go-karts, slightly perfunctory mini-golf, a very small roller coaster, a giant slide, a toddler ropes course. I could easily come back, and I guess I will whether I like it or not.
