Danny came recommended from a group I belong to as being the go-to guy for body piercings when I asked for someone who doesn't use a piercing gun. Let me just say, they were NOT wrong! His station is VERY clean and neat. He had just seen someone before me, and cleaned and broke down everything before coming over to take me back. In my opinion, its never a bad thing when the station smells like disinfectant. I have to say that even though he was a guy, I felt extremely comfortable. He constantly checked in with me, made sure I was OK, and announced each step of the process before he did anything. I needed an expert opinion on placement, and he was confident and accurate. Me and my best friend came in the other day as walk-ins to get our septums peirced. As we walked in the door we were greeted by one of the tattoo artists who was hard at work. He pointed us in the direction of the piercer, Zero, and we got to piercing shortly after! I have been here a few times and gotten pierced by Zero each time. He is always very professional, sanitary, and straight to the point which are all very important qualities to have in this setting. He takes pride in doing his work the correct way which I admire and very much appreciate. With a septum's placement being so crucial, I love that I can come here and not worry about the outcome being anything but top tier. I currently live in Los Angeles and come back to Norcal to visit family regularly and in doing in the future, will definitely be back to get another piercing from Zero. read more

This review is purely for the guy doing the piercing. I came in, we discussed the piercing, I signed the form and was asked to sanitize my hands. No worries because A+ for cleanliness and the work station was super clean too. He got really mad at me when I touched his mirror while looking at the spot which was marked for piercing. I said I was sorry, multiple times and he said it's ok many other people don't listen too. What the actual heck, way to make someone feel like shit bro. I should have walked out. The actual puncture of the piercing hurt a lot more than my daith, tragus and forward helix. The ring used looks very very large and I will go somewhere else for them to make sure it was safely pierced with the appropriate hardware. He was good to explain cleaning and products to use/not use but I know the drill. It's cash only and I tipped 20% out of courtesy. Don't know why I did though, yet here we are. Please do better Danny/Zero. Especially with everything else going on in the world, the last thing people need is being made to feel like they're an inconvenience to you. Be kind. read more

I was looking for a place to get my nose pierced and came across CalPunk. Walking in I was greeted and felt comfortable. That's always my main deal going into tattoo shops. The shop is very clean also. Danny was very friendly and did such a good job. He made sure his station was sanitized and everything was clean before doing any piercings. UPDATE: so I went in to get my nose stud changed to a hoop. I walked in and got to the front desk where people were sitting and got a very unwelcoming hello. I told them I was here to change out my jewelry and felt as though it was an inconvenience. The shop was slow so I wasn't expecting such a rude experience. I sat in the chair and my jewelry was basically taken out so fast which HURT!!! Thank you very much and than he had issues putting in the new jewelry and was saying curse words (which didn't bother me) but worried me. I don't know, I was very happy with the service I got getting my piercing but when I went to get it changed out it was a whole different experience. read more

I went in to the inquire about an issue i was having with my nose piercing. The guy that "helped" me was terrible!!! Rude, called me a baby and told me not to touch anything. He made my nose bleed and throb. Never told me his name, tall, skinny, green braids. He said I couldn't pick the new ring he put in and just yanked mine out and forced the plain silver hoop in. We visited the studio to get my son's ears pierce. Right away we were greeted by Zero who was extremely helpful and guided us throughout our visit. He patiently explained certain aspects we were unfamiliar with and even waited for us while we got or paperwork in order as he is underage. He kept the area very clean and was very knowledgeable. He checked with my son to ensure he liked the location of the piercing before proceeding, was patient as he picked the stud size (and when he changed his mind, Zero did not appeared annoyed nor bother). Came in with a friend and got pierced by Zero. He took us right before closing which was nice and I will say the piercing itself was literally painless. He had a gentle touch but man oh man was he rude. He was a great piercer but definitely needs to work on his customer service skills. I asked my friend if she'd like me to record her getting her piercing and without letting her answer he says "I don't want you to record" ummm cool dude I wasn't asking you and I would not have put your face in the video either way. I've been to many piercing/tattoo shops and never had a piercer have an issue with taking a video. I get if that's not his vibe but he should put a sign up or something. Then he asked if I could move away when I was nowhere near in his way. I was standing at the foot of the piercing chair/bed and he was piercing my friend's ear so I definitely was not bothering him... after he finished with her he went to the front counter to ring her up but she went to the restroom first. When she came out she asked if he had done my piercing and he said "no we've been waiting on you" she apologized and said she had to pee badly and he said he was just cracking a joke. All while having a straight face and an unpleasant attitude and demeanor the whole time before. Yeah.. sure it was a joke.. anyways then comes my piercing which was great in itself, super painless. I couldn't even tell that he had pierced it because of how gentle he was. So that was awesome. I still left a tip because he did a good job and was super cleanly. But pleaseeee work on your customer service skills Zero. The shop would thrive. Probably won't be back though. I think I'd prefer a friendlier piercer with a rough hand over a rude one with a gentle hand. read more

I would give 0 stars if possible for my most recent experience at Cal Punk. I went in to have some new jewelry put into existing piercings after having an MRI 2 days prior (nostril, both ear lobes, tragus, and daith). My intent was to get captive hoops in all 5 holes, as I had had before. However, I was never given an opportunity to choose my jewelry. Instead, when I approached the piercer, I was greeted with rude comments, implying that I didn't know what I was talking about. Once we got on the same page about what holes I wanted jewelry in, I approached the chair and was told, "Can you give me a few minutes?" So, I backed away and chit chatted with the 2 tattoo artists behind the desk. Then, the piercer called me over. He had 2 jeweled studs, a jeweled corkscrew nose stud, a jeweled tragus stud, and 1 captive hoop for my daith. I said, "Oh, I'm sorry, I actually wanted a hoop for my nostril." The piercer then let out an audible sigh and aggressively threw the nose ring he had gotten ready into the trash can. At this point, I didn't even dare tell him the 3 other pieces of jewelry he had gotten ready were not what I wanted either. And when it came time to insert the tragus piercing, he once again implied that the holes weren't open any longer. Had he used the proper gauge hoop that was in place before, it would have gone in no problem. But since I wasn't allowed to pick my jewelry without some serious attitude being thrown back at me. I ended up with a larger gauge stud being SHOVED through my tragus. Then, after all this, I was charged $75 for 3 pieces of jewelry I didn't even want. So after this awful experience, I still had to go home and try to get my old hoops back in by myself. Needless to say, I won't be returning to Cal Punk... which is a shame since I've gotten some of my favorite tattoos there. read more

CalPunk Ink was awesome! I dropped by on a Friday after work looking to get my forearm done. I was greeted right away and was able to use their restroom while waiting. Juarez took time while tattooing someone to look at my photos I printed and he told me to send an email with my pics and see if there was time the following day. Got an email the next day to come in at 2pm. The sketch he drew up was 100% on point with what I wanted. No changes necessary. The coloring on the garnet I got is so amazing! This is a bit late but I brought my daughter in for a nose piercing. She's 14 and was a bit nervous. The studio is super clean and calming. We were greeted by the friendly tattoo artists hard at work. The piercer (I forget his name) immediately greeted us and was quick to do all the verifications. I was taken aback when he asked if I got her permission to film/photograph but I think it was his odd sense of humor. He didn't really explain much and just went in lol Which was good for my kid cuz she immediately started crying (reflex) when the needle went in. But I can tell you the healing process was sooooo good. No issues at all. Her ears were a different story (done at a different place 2 times) infections and ended in the ER. Her nose piercing so far has healed beautifully. I have to think it's because of an experienced piercer. The first couple hours she was very sore, but after that it was smooth sailing. I'm definitely bringing my kids here for all their piercings. read more
