We ordered their traditionally prepared cuchinillo, grilled vege platter, tiramisu with toffee, coffee ice cream with amaretto jelly and the traditional layered cake with vanilla cream and ice cream, capuccino and a glass of red wine. The service was impeccably attentive. When it was time to cut the roast pig, the owner, Jose Maria appeared. We were gathered around to watch him deftly cut the pig with a plate into several servings. The cuchinillo was perfectly seasoned. The skin was thin and crispy and the flesh was moist and melt in your mouth tender. Everything we ordered was delicious! Later on, Jose Maria came to our table for a short chat and to indulge us with a few picture with him. This was a really special experience.

The staff is outstanding, always there to help We stayed 3 nights, would have stayed 4, but our first time there they were fully booked for the next night. On our return trip we made sure we booked the 2 nights ahead of time. We had started our trip in Budapest where our Viking river cruise began. It was our first time on such a fancy trip. We are Pilgrims at heart, which is why we extended our trip for 3 more weeks. We ended in Amsterdam but took a train to Lourdes, then Bayonne, we were looking to hike an obscure Camino route " Camino del Batzon". It went from Bayonne to Pamplona. After our first day we found how obscure it was, Almost all the hotels had shut down due to lack of pilgrims. Time for plan B, we decided to go directly to Pamplona. We backtracked to Bayonne, then a bus to Pamplona, where our first stay was at this hotel. What a great city and made better by our hosts, so we hiked from Pamplona to Longrona and back. This was our shortest Camino, but I can now say I've been on all 5 of the major ones. Three complete from 2015, over 850 kilometers and 4 credentials We have stayed in Alburques on every Camino, so don't think this is an "Alburque", it's a nice place to re center. So thank you Hotel Campanilla for making everything easy and welcoming of Pilgrims. Buen Camino.

This place is about 8 mins walk from El Escorial Monastery. It is definitely a hidden gem of the neighborhood. For 10 Euros, you can have a two course meal and desert + wine/beer/water till 4pm. The food is so fresh and homey. There is a little terrace in front, and you can appreciate the charm of a small quaint town. Everyone seem to know each other. Food selection gets smaller as the day go, because they just prepare enough fresh food for the day. So go earlier. The server is so friendly, but he speaks little (to no) English. Menu is on the board, use your google translate and you will be just fine:) Please go and support this neighborhood joint!

It faces a park and is nice and quite. The interior is modern and there are plenty of tables inside. There is jamon hanging from the bar and plenty of tapas on offer. We started with some jamon which was delicious. The grilled artichoke and clams were also very nice and tasty. I love rice dishes and I was told this was the place to have Arroz di Banda a traditional rice dish from Alicante which is rice cooked with seafood in a similar pan to a paella. It was heavenly and I could have had another portion of it :-) For dessert they brought us a new dish they had made and provided it on the house for us to taste. It was a lemon fondant and when you cut into it the lemon cream flows out. Oh my god !!! It was heaven on a plate :-) Great service and attentive waiters made for a great experience. I am definitely coming back here again :-) a gem of a place in town.
