In fact, we had told him in writing that the tenant might ask for more work to be done, but we were not authorizing it. He did it anyway and charged us. He was also not transparent about disposal fees until he was already on site and there wasn't much we could do about it. Not only did he lack transparency, but his overall professionalism was lacking. We had to ask, multiple times for an invoice for our records. The invoice terms stated Net 30 but he began harassing us to pay the invoice via text and email within hours of sending the invoice.

From the start, my interactions with their Sales/Quote representative, Glenn, were frustrating and unprofessional. He struggled to hold a clear conversation about product specifications and talked over me when I tried to ask questions. When I held him accountable to the original options he had presented, he even suggested I should just go with another fence company. On two separate occasions, Glenn promised to deliver a detailed quote within 24 hours. Both times, GMH didn't deliver. They did provide an excuse by saying they were waiting on me to provide quote options for vinyl but that is not true. Glenn stated "I just bought a trailer of aluminum and had to see what the freight was" before the quote and now I understand they were trying to push me a different product than originally provided. Over all I waited over a week to receive anything. When I finally got the quote and began asking detailed questions about the aluminum fence I wanted to order, the experience went downhill quickly. Glenn seemed unable or unwilling to answer my legitimate questions and started pushing a completely different product than what was originally discussed. After reaching out to GMH with my feedback, the company showed little concern. Instead of addressing the issues, they sent me a revised quote that was nearly double the original price, claiming the fence option I wanted had been discontinued. This was a clear case of over-promising and under-delivering. Before doing business with GMH, I strongly recommend that future customers: * Carefully validate the exact product specifications and options immediately available * Ensure everything discussed (including brochure details option) is clearly listed on the written quote * Get all promises in writing I truly wanted to work with GMH and had high hopes based on their initial presentation, but the entire process--from quoting to follow-up--was filled with unnecessary frustration and inconsistency. I dug a little deeper and could not find a single review on any business review website in which they did not receive five-stars. I called and set up an appointment with a sales representative (this was the first of many companies with which we were scheduled to meet). My wife and I met with Ben Griffin at our home, and it quickly became obvious that our windows were much worse off than we thought (they were at least 40 years old and had no R-Value). This would be 5 stars if they didn't end up price gouging for a routine maintenance visit…read more I've used them before, once for a routine service visit and once when a radiator pipe was leaking (they ended up also doing our next service on the boiler at that time). The first time they did the maintenance, they didn't drain and refill the boiler, which was always done by any previous service techs. The second time I asked them to (after they replaced the bolt on the leaking pipe) and they did. In June of this year when they came for the maintenance, I mentioned that I'd like the boiler drained/filled again. Steve starts talking about how if I want the boiler drained, there are separate charges since they are different jobs, the burner and the water. This is news to me; every reputable tech has always drained the boiler as part of the service, even when we had an oil boiler, and the charge includes both services. After spending no more than 15 min total on my boiler, I go to write a check ($125 a year ago) and he says he needs to call the office to get the price. Red flag. They did not quote me when I called, but I also had used them before for the same service and knew that if the price went up, say to $150, I would have been fine with that. He returns and says it's $325 and does this song and dance about how their costs have gone up and he's not going to charge me the $125 fee to come out. What? It would have been $450 for a 15-minute scheduled routine maintenance call? I followed up with the office a few times to get an invoice with the 2 "charges" broken out. You guessed it, a month later they have ignored the request. I try to keep my business local rather than go with the big companies. Top Mechanical gave me a great lesson on how the little guy will choose to rip you off if he feels he can get away with it. Go with the big company is the takeaway if you don't want to be ripped off.
