Although it is a little bit more spacious than the parent 'bakehouse' in Dennistoun, this place somehow fails to achieve the same ambience for me. Maybe it's the higher windows, maybe it's because the space is finished to a higher standard, or maybe it's just the Feng-Shui... I don't know. I still prefer going to Dennistoun if I can (it's also easier to park the car over there!). But it's still Tapa, it still has the fantastic Tapa bread and goodies, and they still do a great Long Black. If you're anywhere in the vicinity, it's worth stopping off here.

After an enjoyable walk along the Kelvin River I stopped on the way back and bought a quiche, beetroot salad, lemon bread and a mocha. Once again, soooo good. This place is worth a visit and located just outside the subway and next to the Kelvin River walk. It is very clean and the employees are so kind and helpful.

Always…read morelooking for any excuse to grab a cheeky caffeine-fuelled beverage I set out along Dumbarton Road to check oot the latest coffee-kid on the block, Meadow Road Coffee. Named so as it sits on the corner of Dumbarton & Meadow Road. They don't have a sign as yet but my coffee-loving eyeballs spotted all the coffee making gear a quality coffee shop doth require & enter did I... I'm a fan of the look of this place - lots of wood and metal which is v.s'nice. Not many tables as such but still a good amount of seating in here. It was both nice and airy & warm (bonus this time of year!) at the same time. The greeting was also very warm from the 2 lovely guys behind the counter. I asked if they had soya milk which unfortunately they didn't so I opted for a regular cow milked flat white. They use Dear Green coffee beans here so straight away I knew it was going to be a damn fine cup of coffee before that liquid jump-cable juice had even hit my lips. Upon the lovely long counter they had a few cakes and bakes - a banana loaf, a salted caramel millionaires shortbread, some peanut butter brownies & also some undescribed biscuits which turned out to be ginger snaps & free ones at that! Yas. Bonus. I took a ginger snap & a brownie home to try later and both were delicious, especially the immense peanut buttery gorgeous, dense, chocolatey brownie, uh! So so good. If you like brownies then you NEED to try these. One of the best I have tasted (besides my own of course, haha!) NOMSVILLE. Needless to say my flat white was really good also. Spoke to the guys about opening hours and they said as they're newly opened they're still taking each day/week as it comes which makes sense, however for now it's pretty much 8am until 4 or 5pm. They also said soon they will be offering more (hot?) food so will open later then. I picked up a wee card by the till & on it says 'Meadow Road Coffee & Pizza Co' soooooo I am assuming (and hoping!) they will soon be serving delicious homemade pizzas here too! Wow. I'm not even a big cake eater, but I will make an exception at Meadow Road. We were in a couple of weeks back and were pleased to find that they now serve hot food (we were told by a friend that they had issues getting a license to sell food) and we shared a Salmon and Avocado Bowl, which kind of does what it says on the tin. The ingredients are top quality, they don't skimp on the salmon and it has a great salad dressing. I would strongly recommend you try it. The cafe is clearly cut from the Aussie/NZ style, slotting into the West End somewhere between Papercup and Avenue G, without ever feeling like a watered down rip off. They clearly take pride in the quality of their coffee, so I would recommend dropping in, if only for a takeaway. It is out of the way, but we were recommended by a friend and we now go as often as we can. Spread the word, folks.

I was with our lovely Debs M. and we were waiting on David A. and Rob K. to join us. I swear it was like a Yelpers convention in there, we kept meeting Yelper after Yelper in there. Hehe!! The place is so airy and bright compared to Box of Delights which occupied here previously. I love the colour scheme and layout as it seems much bigger now. We found a wee seat while we waited on the guys, then we had one of the baristas, I presumed, sit at our table. It was a bit bizarre and he said 'yes?' We were at the time checking in on the Yelp app, we just explained we were checking in first then we were going to to order. Initially I wasn't sure if he was a member of staff or some random. Haha!! We explained what we were going to have and it seemed to end up with him taking an order. So, I'm not sure for future if you order and pay at the counter or if it is serviced tables. After our strange encounter, David and Rob joined us. As I was enjoying my mocha, in which I didn't take any sugar because I couldn't find any, it seemed rather nice. That's really unusual for me. Debs and I were wanting a wee glass of water so when I asked at the counter they pointed out a sink in the corner with some glasses piled up beside it. I thought this was a rather good idea. They have really thought this place through with their nifty ideas team and also installed plug sockets nearly everywhere that also have USB ports. Genius! Battery running low? Come here and grab some awesome food and great coffee. They also have WiFi so why not bring your office. Eh OK, maybe not your office but a laptop anyway. A spicy Vietnamese peanut soup, and a emon and basil chicken sandwich, served on thick fresh white bread. I'll start with the soup. Oh my heavens, it's packed!! I'm not quite sure exactly what's in there but it is vegan friendly, full of peanuts, tomato, spring onions, a pulse of some description... chunks of sweet potato maybe? Look, the important thing is that it was a deliciously thick and filling soup, with a good heat (although I added extra chillis too) - it's the kind of thing I should make at home more often. All for £3, and you get to choose to add chilli and coriander if you want them. I'm already planning to go back for more! The sandwich was a nice, calming, influence after the spicy soup, moist tender chicken, on soft soft bread, a lovely sandwich indeed! But above all this is a local business, so I'll be walking the extra 30 seconds past Subway and heading here more often I think. The menu should change every week or so but as this was only the second day it was opened I'm sure it'll find its feet. And what a great use for an old police box!! There's a nice selection of toasties, sandwiches and wraps as well as a broth and hot drinks. I went for The Flamin' New Yorker - what an awesome name - and it was made fresh while I waited. I had to wait a while to eat it as I was heading home and had to stop at the supermarket but it was still absolutely delicious an hour later. Two kinds of cheese, pastrami and Sriacha. HEAVEN. I loved the spicy punch and even the bread was totally delicious. Yes, this is one of my fav new spots in Glasgow. If you're looking for a bite to eat while on the move, this is the perfect place to visit in Merchant City. Note: there's an app you can get (search Brew Box) so you can order your lunch in advance, collect loyalty points, see the current menu etc. Such a great idea.

As l was at the post office l thought l will call in and have my usual coffee to go, as you enter someone has placed one of these old jacket stands by the door nearly blocking the entrance. They say there is more seating than before, but all l saw was a few stools dotted around without tables to put your coffee on. To place your order you now have to go on to a stage that looks real odd, with the menu on offer looking good copying similar format to starbucks, a shame they didn't copy the rest as it would have worked. There is no home baking on offer here but pre packed Costco cake's & muffins that have been wrapped in cling film. The coffee seems to be ok but tastes a little plasticky for my liking, I'm not sure if it's just the cups that they use.

Quite impressed with the pricing of both food and coffee - both very cheap for the area. Lots of freshly made salads and sandwiches with plenty of filling choices. I nabbed a pastrami and Emmental ciabatta and a latte. Sandwich was great and packed full of meat for a measly £1.95! Coffee was good but didn't wow me. Three different bean choices on clearly labelled hoppers for you to choose from. However I did have a great chat with the owner about where he sources his beans and what he plans to do with the menu in the future. It seems this cafe is here to stay this time and the staff have plans to cement themselves within the local area. I'll definitely be back to try out their chicken salad. Yum!
