Ahh, the Calendar Club. How I will miss your intermittent appearances in Glasgow if and when the calendar business finally dies out.
It's a mystery how this place stays in business, but then, it's a mystery to me how any seasonal stores (except maybe the hallowe'en shops) make ends meet all year round. They must be fantastic budgeters.
Aaaanyway, a friend of mine absolutely adores the Calendar Club and likes to take his time browsing the racks, leaving me to linger and ponder the possibility of buying one of those page-a-day desk calendars. Maybe then I'd have a better grasp of what day of the week it is.
They seem to have some good deals on as time passes, and there is an absolutely massive selection on offer. From Hollyoaks to Top Gear to Gardener's World, there are calendars to suit pretty much any niche or interest. It's the perfect place to buy an unwitting relative 12-months worth of pictures for a show they mentioned they watched and enjoyed once. Calendars are sneaky that way.
Personally I prefer the Calendar Clubs that crop up inside shopping centres, mostly because my over-zealous friend can take hours to pick a calendar for his Grandma. Not a glowing endorsement, but if you enjoy picking out your annual wall-hanging, this is surely the best place to find it. read more
