If I could give a zero rating I would. I went to this salon for a polish change - JUST a polish change. The woman got out her cuticle cutters and I said please don't do that - no need. She said I just want to clean up this area, and picked and picked and picked. By that afternoon my finger tip was swollen to the size of a grape, hot and throbbing. I went to the doctor the next day who told me she was very glad I came in as I had an infection, and knowing I was at a salon said she has seen this before and probably unclean tools. I had to go on penicillin for 10 days. The only "good thing" is that I called the salon to tell them and they reimbursed me for the penicillin and manicure. Don't go here! read more

I had an emergency nail problem so I called and walked in after lunch time. I told them I had a time limit. At first I thought she ignored me but she did finish within 45 minutes. A lot friendlier than some salons, the only negative was a bit of missed nail along the edges of my thumbs. I'd probably go again. read more

Want great but wasn't terrible. Got a mani and gel polish but the polish didn't go al the way to the edges of my nail which is disappointing . Also there was a staff member sleeping in one of the pedi chairs which made me feel uncomfortable. But he lady was pleasant and gave me a nice hand massage. read more

Awful! The lady that did my nails didn't do a good job at all. The whole reason that I was there was for a color change for an event. My nails look so spotty and are chipping and they are gel!!! She even told me I need to have my eyebrows done. The girl who was working on my friend burned my friends hands with a hot towel and didn't care. I would never go back there and for the price I paid these are awful and I have to go get them redone! read more

I've gone here every time I come to Victoria and never had a problem. This past time that I came here it was the worst experience I've ever had in a nail salon, EVER! Went with my mom, she got a basic gel manicure and I got acrylic gel. While my mom had no complaints, there was only one girl that did acrylic, I'm assuming because I started with one tech and was passed to another. The second nail tech I got was very rude. Every color I was picking she would say "no, out." I picked about 5 colors, how are you out of all of them? Luckily I actually ended up really loving the color that I picked from the ones that did have. Anyways, the whole time she was doing them I felt like I was being rushed through. It's not like they had a line of customers. The whole time of the manicure only 2 other people had come in and they were willing tot wait. I paid $55+ tip, but never got my cuticles trimmed, or pushed back the edge of the fake nail wasn't filed. Literally feels like nails you buy at a drugstore. The actual nail extension doesn't properly fit my natural nail. Didn't get cuticle oil put on after nor a hand massage like my mom did, and I paid more, obviously because of the acrylic but still. About a half hour after getting them done i started to feel like my fingers were burning. After googling to see why they felt like that, was because they were filed down too much in my nail bed. All in all, I'm very disappointed because this place use to be my go to when in town, but not anymore! read more

Terrible Place. The woman doing my nails was so rude it made the whole experience so uncomfortable. I got a gel manicure & pedicure, the woman doing my manicure was removing my old gel colour and filing on top of my leg, my pants were covered with the nail shavings. When I asked for a towel to cover my pants she glared at me. Then she glared at me again when I just told her to cut them shorter, I felt too uncomfortable to tell her shorter....she was almost getting mad every time I said anything. I asked her directly what was wrong with me telling her the length I preferred? It's a standard request. Was tempted to just run outta that place then and there mid way through the job. She told me to put my shoes on right after my pedi was done so that I could go over to the nail station to finish. Yep you bet my toes got smudged even with the gel. Whole thing cost me $56 way too overpriced even though both gel as they didn't cut my cuticles nor exfoliate my feet, my manicure was peeling by the end of the week. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Went in to get full set acrylics, and a week later they had grown out quite a bit. Already he did them much longer than I said I wanted them, but he insisted that he couldn't do them shorter (which isn't true - I've had much shorter nails). My cuticles didn't get trimmed and they didn't look great after leaving the store - you can imagine two weeks after. They were also somewhat crooked and grew out very poorly. I paid much more than I had expected for a bad experience. The whole place was awkward to be in as well. I will not be returning. read more

The gentleman who did my nails did an outstanding job! I came in with somewhat high demands and he exceeded my expectations! He has such an eye for detail and really was all about making me happy. It would be nice to be offered tea / coffee or water but for such an amazing job I can bring my own! I'll definatly be going back to get my nails done here everytime ! Amazing environment, lovely staff. I went to get my nails done with my best friend for her graduation. We got designs done on an accent nail and the nail guy said that it would be a free design because it was our first time there. I was also impressed with the amount of time. Most nail places i've been to take soo long, usually 1 hour and half to 2 hours and this place took maybe 45 mins to an hour and the results were better. I'm so happy with my acrylic set. read more

There are a few quick places in malls in victoria that do a reasonable job. This is not one of those shops. One of the worst manicures I have had in a few years. Not a ton of business going on - not all staff working with customers. Despite this my manicure was rushed and my nails were cut way too short , to the point that they are uncomfortable and she had difficulty filing them. No interaction verbally with customer. I was not looking for spa experience just a credible, professional job. That expectation was not met. In addition given that she put a plastic cover over the tip of the cuticle scissors I am also not so confident in their hygiene practices when it comes to tools. Best pedicure I have had in years! Even though they are in the mall and have cheap prices, they REALLY did a great job! Our pedis lasted forever and they were super friendly. They went above and beyond to ensure our super long pedi was the best experience ever! Hot stones? Check. Hot towels? Check. Extra long amazing massage? Check. They also did an amazing job of making sure the heels were flawless and the toes were cleaned up. Perfect service and perfect experience. read more

Traditional manicure was $20, took 45 minutes, and included arm massage and four (4) coats (base coat was OPI Nail Envy), each professionally applied and dried. Walk-ins welcome. Definitely go back. The woman who did my nails was so rude. She answered her cell phone in the middle of my manicure and talked for a couple minutes. She also grabbed my hands and pushed them away instead of just asking me to move them. I got gel polish for $20 (just the polish, no manicure) and it was OK. Another person I was with got the gel 'manicure' for $40 and it should definitely not have been twice the price. It only lasted about 5 minutes longer than mine and the only difference was she had her nails filed and cuticles trimmed. I will not go back again. read more

I asked for gel nails, and she barely spoke one word to me. I noticed after that part of it was rough so my nail was already ruined. In two days the gel had chipped. It's now been less than a week and half of my nails are chipped and I don't do anything rigorous to make this happen faster. Very dissatisfied and won't be going back. read more

Horrible service. I asked for round nails, the guy just nodded his head and ignored me and made them a weird square-ish shape. The towels were not changed from the person who sat at the table before me, and when I asked about it, he lied and said that he changed it. When i went to pay I asked the lady at the cash register whether she would have paid 20$ for the same manicure, she just made a weird face and didn't even apologize or anything. The most uncomfortable experience I have had at a nail salon. The lady did not acknowledge me at all. Just gestured where to sit and moved my feet around or pointed to where I should put them. It was as if she was mad at me. She and her coworkers spoke in their language excluding their English speaking customers. This was disrespectful and rude as was the lady's demeanour. I could not get out of there fast enough and after paying and tipping she did not say 'Thank You'. The work was rushed and any attempt at conversation on my part was answered with a one word response. Very poor customer service. read more

Not what it used to be. Prices are much higher recently. I used to always go here for acrylics/fills. The higher prices would be fine if quality still good but unfortunately it isn't. My nails chip or break within a day or two and they now charge $5 on top of fill price for each new nail they have to apply. **AVOID** I went in today and asked for Canadian flag nail art for Canada day and a gel nail manicure, which apparently was no problem. I was sat down and the technician started doing my manicure. The techician was rushing terribly and made no conversation whatsoever. When she had applied my red nail polish she went to apply the final coat of clear without applying the nail art (which is what I went in for!). I challenged the girl who didn't understand me so she asked her colleague to translate. She then went on to tell me that the girl who would have done the Canadian flag nail art wasn't in today, despite telling me when I came in that I could have it done. They did not offer any alternative, were forceful, argumentative and quite frankly horrible! If they had told me when I went in I would have happily gone else where however I ended up having to pay the full price for a manicure which was not even what I went for. I left in tears as the women in there were incredibly rude and were quite blatantly speaking about and impersonating me in Chinese! It was like I was being laughed at. Overall a horrific experience and ruined my day in Victoria (I have no idea how people can be so rude). read more

Horrible place to get your nails done and their customer service is awful at The Bay Centre location. If you want to throw your money away go here. They do not listen to the customer, they speak in their own language and if you do complain they will handle it poorly and they will be very rude. They also will not offer you a discount when they screw up your nails. They filed my nails to the point that it hurt and there was air bubbles under my gel polish. The sad thing is I didn't even ask for a gel polish! Horrible place and horrible staff. All of them without exception. They all ganged up on me and put the blame on me. read more

If you are considering a manicure/pedicure or gel nail services, you MUST go to Cali Nails. They have been open now for 3 months, and the location is very clean and bright. The women are very thorough and professional. I had a manicure and gel polish application, and it was the best I've ever had. They have the most extensive selection of colours. Special touches like the hot towels and hand and forearm massage take this nail spa to a much higher level than any other I've patronized. Furthermore, the other clients were raving about their previous visits to Cali. I will not go anywhere else now that I've found this gem. Went for a manicure today, with acrylic French tips. First off, the technician had a jar of dirty utensils, and proceeded to begin to trim my mails with them.. I stopped her and asked for clean ones.. She had no clean files and was not planning to use any clean tools if I had not said I was leaving because of this. She came back with what's he said was clean new ones but I'm not convinced. During manicure, received no hand massage, she frequently for up to respond to her colleagues. She never sanitized my or her hands or tools or table before or after.. I will not go back.. Nails look ok, but there are small bubbles in them.. read more

Even for the economical pedi price, I will not return. On entering, a chair was pointed to. My coat was still on, bags in hand, no direction for a first time customer. When asked how the water was, I replied 'cool' not warm. No reaction. I received hot stone massage on one leg as my attendant was too busy talking with other attendants. I asked if you paid extra for the chair/back massage as I did not get it and again no reaction from the attendant. Definitely worth paying a little extra for personal service. read more

The girl doing my nails didn't know what an almond shape was and even when I showed her pictures I sill didn't get the shape I wanted. The only consistently good and service oriented person in this branch as it turns out is the guy. I have had bad experiences here before of getting wounded and the female technicians nor doing a good job (visible brush strokes and uneven polish) but the guy was worth coming back to. This week I decided to get a mani pedi. The guy did my pedicure which was great. I requested my manicurist to finish one hand completely to the polish so I could have one hand completely dry. She said -- how come that's not how it's done?! So I did not finish the polish and today I came back. On the first try I was just told by the girl closest to the door -- everyone is busy. So I came back an hour later. I told her the polish combination I tried and liked. And she proceeded to (in a very slapdash manner) to put the white on. And the brush strokes were all over the place and she put three coats of it. When I explained what we had tried to do previously she just said you chose the wrong polish it's too light. And did what she wanted to do anyway. Now I have five coats of dirty white on my nails. She went to another customer while I was drying my nails. And had another lady (who was very irritated about having to do it because she was very busy sipping tea, texting on her phone and enjoying the massage chair beside mine) do the top coat. When I said the sides had not been cleaned she also said -- what for they're clean. They're not. I am going to buy nail polish river to erase this all. And alas the great guy notwithstanding I am NEVER AGAIN GOING TO THIS PLACE. read more
