I started school here last March in hopes of becoming a master esthetician. I did not have a state license, but was promised by Linda that all that I would have to do, was go to a school called Linda Beauty School, pay for the course without attending, and then take the state test.
Under Linda's suggestion, I started here first. I was surprised to find that there is no curriculum or schedule. What was studied during the day was based on how Tamara felt. We would spend hours sitting around with nothing to do waiting on our next instructions, and that is if we were even attending class. Several times during the month, class would be canceled with little to no notice. I arrived twice to find the door locked and no one answering the phone.
After attending for a few months, I noticed that students would be let go from the program for very little reason. Although I was concerned, I was reassured that everything was ok. Other students in the class began to notice too, the mood between Linda and the other students was very uncomfortable. She seemed to have issues with everyone and the bickering and fighting was nonstop. It made for a very unprofessional environment.
After spending thousands to attend this school and only a month left until graduation, I got a call from Linda saying that I was no longer welcome at the school. She claimed that I had talked to another student about my tuition and had it on recording. No such thing had happened. When I asked to see the recording, she said that I did not have a right to see it. I had to wait a week to talk with the owner of the school about what had happened. He agreed that the accusations were unfounded and agreed to let me come back. After dealing with this mess though, I don't feel comfortable attending anymore.
I found out later that tuition is different for every student. This is why Linda became so hostile towards me when she thought I was discussing the tuition. One of the students contacted me later and said that there is no diploma. It was claimed that I would receive a masters esthetician license from the state of California after completing the course, but there is no such thing. There are only three states in the US that offer the license and California is not one of them. I was told that a bill would be passed soon, but that's not true either. This has been going on for years and the
bill gets shot down every time.
Another issue, is that you have to provide your own people to work on. They end up paying more than you would on a Groupon! It makes is very hard to find people to come in and to find case studies. read more
