I am a current student here at California Advanced Esthetics. What appealed to me about choosing this school was first and foremost the schedule. I am able to work and go to school with ease. I also love that in addition to obtaining an esthetics license, we are learning advanced techniques that you don't get at other esthetician schools, which is usually the bare minimum to pass state board. it took me a long long road to get to where I am now. I left my job of 6 years and moved to start over to change careers, I also moved back home for the time being so I can go to esthetician school full time. I called this number (619) 804-9781 to discuss my option to enroll in this school. The lady I had talked to had a strong accent. I told her I was really interested in the program and I wanted to discuss my financial situation and If their esthetician program offers financial aid, (she was RUDE AS F---!) and literally told me the redic price of the school and i told her unfortunately I don't have that kind of money and she laughed and said to call her back when I win the lottery. Okay, Let me start off by saying as a business woman-who in their right damn mind would ever tell someone this who is trying to attend YOUR SHIT SCHOOL. I hope the person who I spoke to reads this. Your rude as shit and I hope everyone in your admissions office reads this and knows how you talk to people who are interested in your school. You should be ashamed of yourself. HUGE RED FLAG I suggest anyone trying to attend this school- just DONT. esp if this is how they treat people over the phone who shows interest. I started school here last March in hopes of becoming a master esthetician. I did not have a state license, but was promised by Linda that all that I would have to do, was go to a school called Linda Beauty School, pay for the course without attending, and then take the state test. Under Linda's suggestion, I started here first. I was surprised to find that there is no curriculum or schedule. What was studied during the day was based on how Tamara felt. We would spend hours sitting around with nothing to do waiting on our next instructions, and that is if we were even attending class. Several times during the month, class would be canceled with little to no notice. I arrived twice to find the door locked and no one answering the phone. After attending for a few months, I noticed that students would be let go from the program for very little reason. Although I was concerned, I was reassured that everything was ok. Other students in the class began to notice too, the mood between Linda and the other students was very uncomfortable. She seemed to have issues with everyone and the bickering and fighting was nonstop. It made for a very unprofessional environment. After spending thousands to attend this school and only a month left until graduation, I got a call from Linda saying that I was no longer welcome at the school. She claimed that I had talked to another student about my tuition and had it on recording. No such thing had happened. When I asked to see the recording, she said that I did not have a right to see it. I had to wait a week to talk with the owner of the school about what had happened. He agreed that the accusations were unfounded and agreed to let me come back. After dealing with this mess though, I don't feel comfortable attending anymore. I found out later that tuition is different for every student. This is why Linda became so hostile towards me when she thought I was discussing the tuition. One of the students contacted me later and said that there is no diploma. It was claimed that I would receive a masters esthetician license from the state of California after completing the course, but there is no such thing. There are only three states in the US that offer the license and California is not one of them. I was told that a bill would be passed soon, but that's not true either. This has been going on for years and the bill gets shot down every time. Another issue, is that you have to provide your own people to work on. They end up paying more than you would on a Groupon! It makes is very hard to find people to come in and to find case studies. read more

I had an oxygen facial with Michelle, and it was wonderful. My skin feels like a plump piece of fruit, lol, and I'm sooo mellow. She is obviously very experienced, and I felt very confident trusting her with my face. Also, the location is spotless, light and airy - it's very relaxing. And, I watched Michelle change the linens before and after my treatment,. (Fellow germophobes will know how reassuring that is!) Apparently, they're a school for estheticians who are already licensed and working, who want to learn advanced stuff, so you benefit from a student rate without the nerves. I had a deep pore cleaning facial with Anna and it was amazing. She has a divine skin, is so caring and knowledgable. She made me feel comfortable and confident. She is efficient- not too harsh or not too soft on extractions and the massage was very relaxing. Called a few days ago in order to get some information for studying waxing and eyelash extensions. I spoked with Linda and she explained me about the master esthetics and prices and what is including. Meanwhile I searched at other schools so I could compare between the schools. I got a follow up call from Linda to see if I'm still interesting going to study with her institute. I told her that I'm still looking around and I asked from her to send me some information or catalog via email. She said she doesn't send information through email so I asked if she could send it by mail so she said "I could but I won't". She insist me to drive all the way down to the school in order to pick the catalog , I live 45 min drive a way. I told her that is inconvenient and any other school did send me some information via mail. At the end she told me that if I don't want to go there for school they have many more student that will be happy to go. After this kind of customer service no matter how the school is good I'll never go there!!! read more

Now that I have graduated and am a Master Esthetician a friend asked me "was it worth the money?" I will share my answer to her with you. YES without hesitation! For approximately half a year I was trained by a Board Certified Dermatologist in an atmosphere so small and individual that it often felt like one-on-one learning. As a student there I was able to work with $30K machines in a Medical Spa Clinic environment. I learned from a woman who personally assisted both Doctors Murad and Obagi. I used top of the line spa products on my clients along with a wide array of fundamental and advanced acids. This is a school that cares about their students as much as their profit line--I have never seen anything like this in the for profit school business.
