I came in for a Gelivate nail fill and a pedicure with Kyla Cortez, and she did an amazing job! Kyla was detailed, patient, and very professional throughout the entire service. She took her time to make sure everything was clean, even, and polished beautifully. The instructors were supportive and checked in as needed, but Kyla handled the service with confidence and great technique. For being a student, her work was impressive and showed real potential. A couple weeks ago, I saw students holding up sign saying that they needed customers. I was in between beauty salons so I figured they needed students I needed my hair done. I made an appointment. I got Claudia the student and Miss Rosa, the instructor. I believe Miss Rosa was very professional knowledgeable and used every opportunity she could as a teaching mechanism for her students. Claudia was kind patient and she really wanted to do a good job. Sometimes she had a little anxiety moments but at the end of the day they did a magnificent job. I gave them complete freedom. I told them my problem point was my gray hair and I had a very demanding job so I I couldn't get to the Salons as much as I knew I should. I wanted something low maintenance to hide my grays and that was where my two key points whatever color whatever other ideas they had I gave them free will to do. I also got partial highlights some low lights. I got toner and I got a haircut and style. Everything was priced beautifully especially in this economy. Please take cash tips for the students. I would highly recommend this place. I would go back again. Everybody is nice. The front desk is nice as well parking is a bit of an issue so I did get dropped off. If you can get dropped off that would be ideal. If not, go with enough time to find parking, that's the only downside to this I think all the students they want to learn and want to do a good job so if you could give them a chance, it would be great because we all learn we didn't become experts overnight. I think they did a fabulous job on my hair. I would definitely go again and I would highly recommend to anybody. I truly love this place -- the prices are unbeatable, and every student who has worked on my hair has done an amazing job. I've always left feeling satisfied and well taken care of, which is why it pains me to leave a 1-star review. Unfortunately, the parking situation is consistently frustrating and, honestly, unacceptable at this point. Students regularly double-park, blocking in paying clients even when there are clearly open spaces available. Today was especially upsetting -- I was blocked in and had to track down the student, who didn't even come out until I called out to her car. After she moved, another student immediately pulled up to double-park again. Thankfully, they let me out, but then just returned to block someone else in. It's incredibly disappointing that after all these years, this ongoing parking issue hasn't been addressed. It creates unnecessary stress for customers who are here to relax and support the students. I hope management takes this seriously and puts a system in place to fix it -- for the sake of both clients and the reputation of the school. read more

I am new to town and I always like to visit beauty schools to help the new students practice in me. However I've never experienced anything like this. The poor girl who cut my hair had obviously never cut hair on a real person. Ever. I assumed there would be a supervisor or someone to guide her with the process. Not one supervisor came over to help her. I left with a haircut that is terribly uneven and wrong. No supervision so what exactly did this poor girl learn from hacking at my hair? Nothing! It's horrible, the lady that did my service was really nice but you could tell she didn't know what she was doing! I recently graduated from the Esthetics 103 program at Bellus Academy in Chula Vista. Overall, I had a really positive experience! I loved the program and especially appreciated my amazing instructors Ms. Lilian, Ms. Leah, and Ms. Tiffany. They were all incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, and made learning enjoyable. That said, I did run into ongoing issues with student services, specifically with Ms. Danielle. It was extremely difficult to get in touch with her throughout the program. Emails would often go unanswered or were responded to weeks later, and she was rarely available in her office. When I did manage to speak with her, the conversations felt rushed, and at times, she seemed frustrated or uninterested in helping even though it's part of her role. I understand she's been in her position for over 12 years, but I believe the workload might be too much for one person given how many students attend and enroll each month. Some additional support in that department would really benefit both the staff and students. Aside from that, everyone else was great! The AM front desk staff were always friendly and helpful, and financial aid was great to work with and very informative. Despite that one area of concern, I'm thankful for my time at Bellus and the education I received. I'd still recommend the program to others. read more

My grandma and I got haircuts earlier this week, which turned out great! But this review is specifically for Nakeyia. My daughter has textured hair which was in need of some serious love! Well Nakeyia sure delivered!!! She detangled her hair like a total boss!! When she washed her hair, she was extremely thorough and made sure every strand soaked up the deep conditioner. I was nervous at first because my daughter has sooo much hair which can be challenging for some, but not for Nakeyia. She is so friendly, funny and confident. This location is honestly a joke. Like, you can tell from the second you try to park. There are not enough parking spots, and there's no real plan to fix it. Just trying to show up to school is a whole nightmare by itself. And good luck getting your kit. We see huge deliveries come in, then the stuff just disappears. Nobody gives us what we paid for. They made Travis a "lead," whatever that's supposed to mean, but he doesn't make sure we get anything. He doesn't even enforce dress code, and half the time he doesn't look professional himself. He's literally outside smoking with students on break. Pretty sure educators aren't supposed to be doing that?? Yvonne barely leaves her office and honestly acts like she couldn't care less if we ever get our supplies. The building itself is falling apart too, and no one seems to care at all. I know Bellus has other locations and people say they're better, but honestly? I doubt it. Save yourself the headache and just don't come here. read more

Plus super great deal on services that are normally much higher, 2-3x greater. Because services done by supervised students, they do take longer than expected, so be prepared for that. Went to Bellus Academy to get a facial (pause) as a recommendation from one of my friends. When I tell you this was one of the best most relaxing experiences I've ever had!! I really have a basic skin care routine when it comes to my face (dude stuff lol). Ask for Senai, she was the esthetician who did my facial. They are open on Thursdays and Fridays for walk ins. Here is a glimpse into a day as an AM Senior Esti student at the CV campus: If you get a parking spot, hope you will not have an emergency and have to leave early because you will be blocked in for the rest of the day. You arrive at your class and stand outside until 9:30 waiting for someone to unlock the classroom door. Once inside the class , a sub greets you and lets you know that they don't have any information on when or if your teacher will be in. You don't get a seat in the class because there are not enough chairs or tables, so you go look for a folding chair or stand among the roaches. There are 8 open treatment tables so if you don't get your name on the sign up sheet, you're out of luck and must do book work. Except, no one has told you what section we are working on. You ask the sub if the teacher has any notes or a calendar that states what section we are on, and sub doesn't know. You ask a classmate and they don't know so they continue watching YouTube or movies on their phone, which you don't blame them because what else are we supposed to do? Lunch comes and the back door is locked and chained up, so you have to walk around the entire campus to get to your car, and you find yourself blocked in so you sit at a broken outdoor table and wait for lunch to be over. You get back to class and the teacher is still not there so you continue to help with laundry and watch microdermabrasion demo videos on YouTube until 3:30. Then you wait in your car until you're no longer blocked in so you can leave and do it all again tomorrow. read more

Not very professional for the salon services. At all. I booked an appointment for eyebrows, a manicure and haircut. The eyebrow person was all ready to wax mine off, when what I wanted was just threading into shape. They didn't offer threading there, so the person shaped mine with a tweezer. She ended up making them short and thick, instead of long and thin; They already had the length, so what I wanted what making them thinner into shape. When I said they were too thick, she went in to make them thin, but I asked to stop partway because I didn't think she seemed too confident in her work. Also got these vibes when she first brought me in to the space and had to call on her supervisor to confirm the work she was going to do. The manicure person didn't seem to professional either. Everyone in the nail room was just casually joking around. The person also didn't treat my hands with water or anything. Just filed them, buffed, and then started polishing. The supervisor in this section had actually gotten some water ready, but it never got used. I had asked for the gel nails since this was for my civil marriage ceremony, but the polishing was so bad that the entire thing started peeling off on my thumbs in 2 days! I ended up peeling the thumb nail polish off and using my own nail polish at home. The polish on the other nails also started to come off on their own (same peeling thing), and my own nail polish ended up lasting weeks after! After the experiences in these 2 areas, I decided to go back without the haircut since I didn't trust the work I was going to get. read more

I got a haircut from here asking for a easy haircut a fade and only 1 inch trim. You know what the barber did? He cut off more than 3 inches of my hair now I look stupid and ugly. This isn't all I went here a couple times before this incident they also messed up many times I know they're still learning but why when you mess up you instead of cutting a little off you cut off 3-4 inches off someones hair without letting them know. I have an interview in a week and i'm gonna look horrible for the interview I'm not saying this companies bad but saying to please teach some of your students to do something better instead of doing what this guy just did to me. read more

DO NOT GET YOUR BARBER LICENSE FROM THIS FRAUDULENT SCHOOL!! My experience at this school was extremely fraudulent. I am a cosmetologist who crossed over into barbering. It cost about $8,000 for three months of school. After making me repeat 2 months of cosmetology program at their establishment I then went into the barbering portion of the program where we didn't have an educator because he quit five days into the course. During this time the shady director, Sean would avoid the barbers and never even came to our class to offer a solution or explain the situation. No help was offered and those who voiced their complaints on the school would get backlash from staff. I went to get my barber license while being a licensed cosmetologist and I didn't shave one face or cut a real head. I wish I had the energy to sue so they don't keep screwing people over but I don't. And I know they are going to see this negative review and skip right over it unless the new director is better than the old one. read more
