The best experience ever !! We showed up to the site bright and early the team was very organized. Our driver was so sweet and explained everything he was so funny with everything and calmed my nerves without knowing because I am afraid of heights but didn't express it when he asked the group he explained how safe it was and how it would feel being in the air and in the basket which he was right. Every step was explained to us . When we got there the crew set up and they took our pics it was cute because it was our anniversary and they gave us a sign to hold and made sure everyone got their picture taken . We had the privilege of being flown by the owners son. He had so much cool information the guys loved it but so did the gals. He knew all of the mountains names and lakes names and explain to us how he flies and gets into the winds currents using the fire . Told us how fast we were going and it felt so calm in the air we got to see the sunrise it was gorgeous. He got up I think 6,000 feet above sea level . He said we got up on a really good day and not every flight is the same . Also the heat from the fire and the body warmth made it feel nice in the air it felt like room temperature even though the morning was cold , take a jacket for sure . After we landed and he explained everything before we did . Went got to have mimosas and he told us the history of the first air balloon and rides while the crew wrapped up the gear. He shared some his own personal hobbies and sports and injuries . Such a cool guy and very interesting to hear and talk to . He rode us back to the winery which his family also owns . I'm giving California Dreamin' Hot Air Balloon Adventures 2 stars because the actual balloon ride itself was beautiful and offered incredible views of Temecula Wine Country. Unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing. Our day started at 4:05 AM with a hotel pickup. We were then driven to the owner's property to sign waivers. For an additional fee, guests receive a bottle of wine and a Nothing Bundt Cake. However, the bottle of wine we were given had no label whatsoever, so we had no idea what type of wine it was, where it came from, or any information about it. Afterward, we were transported to the launch site. Once there, we waited approximately 45 minutes while the balloon was being set up. During that time, three other balloon companies arrived after us and were airborne within about 10 minutes. It was frustrating to spend so much time standing around waiting. The flight itself was amazing and the reason this review is getting 2 stars instead of 1. The landing was rough and felt unstable, as though the basket could tip over. We landed on private property where the owner appeared upset that we were there, which created an uncomfortable situation for everyone. After landing, we then waited another 30-45 minutes before being allowed out of the basket while the crew deflated and packed everything up. Once again, there was a lot of standing around and waiting. When the post-flight celebration finally began, guests were offered Costco Prosecco, apple cider, and orange juice. What stood out was that one of the crew members was serving drinks with visibly dirty hands, which was not particularly appetizing. In addition, an already-open, partially consumed bottle of orange juice was brought out and served to guests. That felt unprofessional and unsanitary. The overall celebration was very underwhelming. Considering this is Temecula Wine Country, I expected something more thoughtful and polished than Costco Prosecco and a mystery bottle of unlabeled wine. And they left it on the truck What was most disappointing were several unprofessional comments made during the experience. There were jokes and remarks involving naked women and drug-related topics that felt inappropriate, especially in a business setting where guests of all ages and backgrounds are present. It made the experience feel less professional than expected. We also landed in an area surrounded by brush and were warned about the possibility of snakes while waiting for transportation. I accepted the offer for four people and input my credit card. The price plus 15% gratuity and a 6% service charge came to a total of $916.69. At 12:52 pm on Jan 17, 2026, I received an email from the company saying, " We have a third-party vendor Error that is giving the wrong price on the 15 and 16 of February. Hot Air Ballooning is something that people should experience at least once in their lifetime. My husband has never been in a hot air balloon before and this was going to be his first time doing so. He kept saying that we should continue to go on epic adventures, so I said, "Let's go up a couple thousand feet into the air and enjoy the views at sunrise." When looking for a company to take us on our journey, I took their safety record into consideration. This was the most important factor that led to me choosing to book with California Dreamin'! They've been in business for quite some time and their pilot had a lot of experience. This set my mind at ease as we got ready to head out to Temecula! First of all, I booked our trip online and waited for my confirmation email to come in. I read the instructions carefully as I wanted everything to go smoothly. You have to call by 2pm the day before to confirm that you are going to be there. This secures your spot for the ride and also allows them to communicate with you regarding forecasted flying conditions. If you don't call the day before by 2:00, then there might be some issues (based on some of the reviews that I've read). We had to be there by 4:45 AM to check in. We drove down some of the darkest roads and parked in the lot. It was DARK out there!!! I could see a few benches and tables under a covered area further up. Once people arrived, they turned on the lights and then I got out of our vehicle. We signed the waivers and waited for the vans to show up. We hopped in with the balloons and baskets in tow! We drove a couple of miles out to an open area. We watched them lay the balloon out and slowly but surely, it began to rise. We could see other balloons in the distance and it was such a beautiful sight to see. Once the balloon was ready, we all climbed in. One thing that I liked was how personable our pilot, Dave, was. He was full of stories and they were quite fascinating. As we floated across the vineyards in Temecula, he gave us a bit of history about hot air ballooning as well as the area that we were traveling above. It was nice to be just high enough up in the air and see the cloud cover off to the right. You're literally above the clouds! Also, let me point something out to the reader. I did take on a hot air balloon ride with friends about 13 years ago. That balloon experience was different. It was through a different company that we found through Groupon. The burner was right above our heads back then and we felt intense heat on our necks. However, with California Dreamin' there was a metal plate below the burner which actually prevented us from feeling intense heat on our necks. I felt like this add on made for a more comfortable ride. Overall, I can say that this experience was absolutely amazing. The weather was perfect and the people that we met were all super nice. I do wish that there was a bit of an easier entrance into the basket. It was difficult for me, but I finally got in! I highly recommend a sunrise hot air balloon ride with California Dreamin! For my 1000th review, I'd like to share an experience worth remembering for a lifetime. Who knew that flying a hot air balloon was so intricate in many levels? Not only is it necessary to start in the wee hours of the morning when the winds are the calmest in a day and temperatures mild, it also requires a whole crew to set up and find the right spot to take off. What determines that perfect location is figuring out the direction of the wind and that in itself takes serious skill and years of experience. We were a bit nervous that morning due to strong winds in the forecast but we were assured our flight was a go. After checking in at Vindemia Winery before sunrise, we all boarded our coaster van while lugging behind us all the equipment for this adventure we were about to embark on. A few stops were made until the captain decided on the ideal location to set up for our flight. And as all of that unraveled before our eyes, we were all in awe of the whole operation especially when we started seeing other balloons take flight before us. Alas, our turn has come and off we went up, up, and away. It felt like a dream as I saw everything shrink below our basket. The view up there was breathtaking. It was a good hour until we landed. Our first hot air balloon ride! My husband surprised me with this early morning experience for Christmas, and it was so worth it. We arrived to the winery around 5:30am and waited for further instructions. Waking up and being in the cold while everything was ready was the biggest downside, but we would do it again. Two friends and I went for a birthday celebration and although we're not morning people, we had a fantastic time! Riding a hot air balloon is a must for a bucket list and we're so glad that we got to do it with California Dreamin'. They were really helpful from the initial phone calls to the email follow ups for confirmation. I had also let them know that we were celebrating a birthday and on the day of, they provided a small birthday banner as well as gifted a bottle of their wine. The whole experience was interesting as we were shuttled to the field where the balloons were being prepared. We watched the balloons get blown up from the ground up while of course taking a ton of photos and videos along the way. We were in a larger basket filled with six couples and our group of three (definitely a more romantic thing to do with your significant other, but we still had a great time with our group haha!). It was a beautiful sight floating over the Temecula vineyards at sunrise and watching the other dozen hot air balloons doing the same thing. After we landed in a new field, they popped a bottle of champagne for mimosas as we watched them pack up the balloon. That day, we were back and finished at just before 9am. My husband and I purchased a $525 gift certificate for what was supposed to be a memorable experience, but it ended in frustration. On the day of our scheduled ride, we encountered unexpected car trouble while driving up from San Diego to Temecula. We broke down off the 15N near Rainbow road and we were in a complete cell phone dead zone. Luckily our car had emergency satellite services. There was a ridiculous amount of fog early Saturday morning and it proved to be an exhausting and much longer experience than we expected. We couldn't make it to the appointment, and when we called the next day to explain and ask about rescheduling, we were met with a hard "no refunds, no rescheduling" policy. No flexibility, no understanding. I get that running a hot air balloon tour requires logistics and sometimes a minimum number of people to fly, but our situation wasn't a simple "change of mind"--it was a genuine emergency. To make matters worse, their terms and conditions only pop up during checkout, meaning you have to agree to them after you've already added your purchase to the cart. It's not like you can find them on the front page or the FAQ, which would give you a fair heads-up about how strict they really are. I feel like this important information was buried until it was too late to do anything about it. We called the night before to check in as required, and we were really hoping to be able to experience our first hot air balloon ride. To future customers: If there's even a small chance that life throws an unexpected challenge your way--a family emergency, travel issues, or anything out of your control--please be mindful that this company has a very strict, no-exceptions policy. In our case, despite having genuine car trouble and missing the tour, we lost the entire cost of our $525 gift certificate. Oftentimes, when I participate in an adventure such as ziplining, paragliding, etc., once is enough for me. But I would definitely participate in the hot air balloon ride again! The ride is smooth and, Josh, our pilot, was full of local history. We met at 5:30am in October so it was pretty chilly, but by the time we were ending, we warmed up, partly from the flames. We took off from an open field where we watched while they and others blew balloons up. The colorful balloons are so pretty and seeing them from the air was exciting. The view of the vineyards and mountains from so high up is post card perfect. In the mornings, it's pretty dark so we drove past the meet up spot, but turned around to park at the only parking lot there on the winery site, which was the meet up before they loaded us in a van to take us to the field. The landing spot was not the same place as the starting spot. On the FAQ on the website, it states that breakfast is included after the landing and it also states that a toast would be at the winery. The website shows photos of guests toasting at the winery with champagne glasses. So it was a little disappointing that there was no breakfast and the toast was not at the winery in champagne glasses - whether it was at the landing spot with plastic disposable cups. The FAQs need to be updated. Otherwise, it was a great experience. read more

We were referred by the lady from the Great Escape. She couldn't accommodate us but went out of the way to call here to ask if they could accommodate us last minute. I quickly called and Jen picked up. She knew I was calling and mentioned my name before I gave it to her. Which was a warm welcome right there. Jen told us she could accommodate my girlfriend and I and immediately reserved us and took my credit card info over the phone. The whole experience was amazing. Everybody who worked there was phenomenal. Very friendly and very conversationalist. It was a safe trip and our flight attendant Dave was awesome. Very cool guy, knew about the terrain, elevation, and provided fun facts. That is what's up! They knew how to keep their guest entertained. The views were beautiful over the wine country. California Dreamin' Hot Air Balloon ride was a wonderful experience. I went for my 30th birthday with my boyfriend. Price: ranged from $150s - 180s depending if you rode on the weekend vs. the weekdays. We flew on Friday and each person cost 158$. Included in that price is the Balloon ride, mimosas after the ride, and what would have been a breakfast (but due to COVID, was not served). Time: Sunrise trip. I lived an hour away from Temecula and had to be on site by 5:45 AM. There are no other time slots available due to unpredictable weather throughout the day. You have to call around 2-3 PM the day PRIOR to your trip to ensure the weather is good. This confirms your reservation and that it isn't canceled due to the weather. Hospitality: driving into the country in the dark may be daunting since there isn't many light posts but there were staff waving flashlights to let you know where the entrance was and where to park. Staff was great, offering us where to sit, and where the washrooms were (outhouses). Our pilot drove us to the launch site who had 15 years of experience and made us feel comfortable and safe. Ancillary staff was great as well! They worked hard ensuring that the set up was quick, offering to take our pictures while we were in the basket. I was very impressed. COVID: masks were required at all times. Everyone (staff and customers in our basket) adhered to masking (even over the nose!). Unfortunately, since the basket is not that big, we weren't socially distant. However, I do believe it's possible to reserve for your party 4+ if that's a concern. They also usually served breakfast but due to COVID, did not serve any. However, staff offered recommendations in the valley. PERKS: you get mimosas after the trip. One thing to note, even if it's cold outside, once you're in the balloon, the hot air/fire they blow into the balloon does radiate warmth. Everyone was so cheerful even at 5 am and made sure we had blankets to stay warm as we waited for all of the parties to show up. It's a family owned business which I love. Dylan was our pilot and he took great care of us. He did his research before we left to find the best place to launch in order to get us out of the think June Gloom fog. Their team was efficient and effective. We had a nice long ride in the air, learning tidbits here and there. So peaceful and such a neat experience. On the way back to the vineyard, another ballooning company had landed right in the middle of the road and our crew jumped out to help them pack up so we could get by. Just stellar professionalism and pride in what they do. Breakfast was lovely in a beautiful setting. We made made to feel so welcome, it was just perfect. Must make advance reservations. We had an early morning reservation for our ride. After a long night of fun it was tuff to get up so early but was worth it. Looking from ground level up to the sky it doesn't look so high, once we boarded on the Hot Air Balloon and we went up high, looking down is a whole different experience. My guess is we are not in habit of looking from up high in the air down to the ground. It was such a awesomely beautiful view. A lot of talking it would have been nice to have some peace and quiet when you're so high up looking at the distance horizon as far as you can see. Well worth $$$ it is a little pricey but lots of Fun. Everyone was professional and helpful. Would do it again next visit. read more

Above and beyond service! I was honestly so impressed with the above and beyond service with this hot air balloon ride. My bf and I went for our 1 year and it was an unforgettable experience. the balloon ride was beautiful while watching the sunrise and the after experience was even better. There was a nice little breakfast bar with mimosa and they gave us a tasting, 2 for 1 tasting voucher, a bottle of wine, and cake for our anniversary! I did not expect any of that! We had a fun time celebrating our Honeymoon on a balloon adventure. It is very peaceful and magical. Dillon our pilot was very professional and his crew took photos of everyone. If you are not afraid of heights you must do this. It's super peaceful up there and you don't feel the motion at all. I thought it would be like an elevator going up and down but we felt nothing. Just peace, being above the clouds was beautiful and so peaceful. The one and only thing I noticed, some people had trouble getting in and out of the basket but it didn't seem like a huge deal. Wow, what an amazing adventure. We cannot say enough about the service and wonderful time we had. CDBA is a family run business; everyone is extremely experienced, professional, friendly, and unbelievably kind. We were very fortunate that we did not experience any major issues on our flight. The pilot and founder of the company is also incredibly knowledgable about the local histories so it was really fascinating to hear what has and hasn't changed over the decades. One thing to keep in mind is that this event is extremely weather dependent and for safety precautions, CDBA won't hesitate to postpone your plans. Was planning to come to Temecula and wanted to do something I couldn't do back home. Found California Dreaming hot air balloon and thought it was exactly what I was looking for. Fast forward to the day of the trip. Woke up at 4am since the meeting time was 5:15am. It was pitch dark when we got there. Highly recommend to stay in the area the night before or else you'll be too tired to enjoy the trip. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had a great chat with Gail prior to heading to the launch pad. We watched the crew worked to get the balloon set up, which was quite interesting. The ride was smooth and relaxing. It feels like riding on very calm water. At one point we were gliding up a valley just a few feet above the ground, which we thought was pretty cool. The only thing we didn't get to see was sunrise, as it was a cloudy day. We got back to meeting point and there was breakfast set up already. Got some bread, cheese, fruits, coffee, mimosas, chocolate cake, and a taste of Vindemia's Cabernet. The owners run the hot air balloon in the early morning and then Vindemia afterwards. Great little family business! Everyone we spoke with at California Dreamin' was very personable. If you've never done hot air balloon, highly recommend California Dreamin' if you're in Temecula area. read more
