I looked at a tide table online and it's a little ambiguous because sometimes it says it's low tide when the water still covered the path. Even when it was low you still might get your feet wet. I'd wear tennis shoes or something sturdy because the rocks can be slippery. Tours are ongoing throughout the day and last about 20 minutes given by the current keeper. Keepers are volunteer positions that last for 1 month. Tours are for 8-10 people, I understood why when we got to the light. There's not a lot of room up there for more people. I'm slightly claustrophobic so it was a challenge but manageable and worth it for the stellar views. There also is a narrow ladder that you have to climb up. Not a big deal for some but this might be harder for someone with mobility issues or elderly people. I couldn't see myself expecting my grandma to climb that ladder. The tide can be finicky, but I thought it was worth it to wait around.

It's very short, about .5 miles and there's virtually no elevation. Parking is right off the highway. Some hike deeper into the forest and actually make their way on top of the bridges. Unfortunately some have also died doing so. Know your limits. There is a trail beyond the paved path and at some point it gets very steep and sketchy. This is where you should stop and turn around. It's best to enjoy these bridges from a distance and find much safer hikes to take which there are many of in this area. Happy hiking!

Day 1 - Jedediah Smith State Park & Stout Memorial Grove, and Day 2 - Mill Creek Trails & Grove of Titans. Mill Creek Trails & Grove of Titans was the best experience of the the trip as he walked and hiked through through the Trails surrounded by the dense forest all around us. The entire area was a beautiful site as we got to experience all of the enormous Giant Redwoods all around us. And the Grove of Giants was an absolute sight to see. Overall: Definitely a must see when in the local area, to experience an amazingly preserved part of California's coast and forest beauty.

Park at the Port of Gold Beach near the Mary D. Hume shipwreck & walk the path along the river's edge. This will give you a great vantage point of the bridge and good camera angles too. Here you can drink in the beauty of the bridge up close and see swallows building their nests under the bridge; sea lions swimming by; birds diving for fish and salmon fisherman hoping to get lucky. Due to the elements, the Rogue River Bridge has required much preventive maintenance. The bridge needs consistent mitigation due to deterioration from the location's salt air. A $20 million rehabilitation ran from 2001 to 2004. A previous project in 1976 mitigated scouring problems at pier 2. Here's hoping this transport's beauty never fades. 5 YELP STARS.

It took us 2 days of meandering up the coast before we reached Brookings. We stayed the night at the Whaleshead Beach Resort (dog friendly accommodations) before meandering our way home. Perfect weekend get away from San Francisco.

Brookings could be a great beach town but the people who run this place have no idea what people…read moreactually want. Views... okay if you want nice ocean views that about all. The restaurants in this town are sub par, there are no shops worth going into, and let's talk about the fishing.... it is absolutely disappointing. In general I think Oregon was known for great fishing but it is terrible now. Access is difficult and there is no pier in town. Don't bother coming here and spending your money, they don't care if you do or you dont anyway.

There's a large gift shop with anything you'd need as well as a museum of Native American information and artifacts. One cool thing is that they had a couple of bathrooms in the woods. This is major for people with kids or who drink way too much coffee and need to go to the bathroom a lot. I just liked exploring. The skywalk was great, I loved being high up and feeling like I was one with the forest. That being said it was more wobbly than I thought. Other than it being hard to walk and take pictures at the same time, it wasn't a big deal but for anyone that is slightly afraid of heights or doesn't have good balance I wouldn't recommend because it's long and you are stuck up there having to finish. You aren't allowed to pass people. The front has beautiful landscaping. It had many colorful flowers and a small dahlia garden as well as dahlias lining the front. It looks like it is very well maintained, I'm into flowers and I could see coming out here just to take pictures of the dahlias.

Admission is a bit steep, at $30 for adults and $25 for seniors. No extra fees for dogs. The trails contained plenty of dog poop bags, trash cans, and restrooms. It is quite well maintained. The trees are massive and nice to look at the vast variety. The Redwood Canopy Trail was cool to explore and is pretty short. There is also a gondola that takes you to an observation deck, though you may not be able to see anything if it is foggy. There are a couple of audio tapes that explain stories behind some of the figures that were there. Last but not least, the gift shop at the very end had lots of unique goodies to commemorate your time here.

My parents met the man who created all of this back in the 70s and always said he was the nicest and most interesting man. I think his family still owns and runs it. It's outside of Gold Beach so we hit it up anytime we're doing the PNW area. It's very affordable and kids find it magical. The parking is ample and the bathrooms are clean. The gift shop is really fun- esp when my son was younger and going through a years-long dinosaur obsession. My grown daughter, the kids dad and I all still think it's amazing. It's a really chill, nice place to stop. The person working is always really nice and they give you a fun map to walk around with.
