Calistoga Pottery has many beautiful useful things -- it's hard to walk away without buying a set of dishes that would end up replacing my grandmother's blue willow dishes (if I had cabinet space, you know I would!). I love visiting here to admire all the lovely bowls, plates, cups and spoon rests. Seriously - if you only buy ONE thing here - get a spoon rest. It will be the most graceful and useful thing on your stove! They also have these super useful olive dishes that have a little side dish for the pits (totally rad, right?). The shop is cool and shaded with a little porch. Super mellow, no pressure browsing. We were even encouraged to stand in the studio to look around at things "in progress" though the potters were not available for demo or tour (on both of my visits!). read more

My favorite pottery shop in the whole wide world - we first stopped by about 9 years ago and have been back half a dozen times. Now I walk in well knowing I will absolutely buy something. I just treasure looking at their things at home. Designs are so beautify and will work with any setting (formal, informal, coastal, wood cabin) Actual pottery studio is in the next room! My wife and I have two bowels from Calistoga Pottery that are our favorite kitchen items. Both were gifts on different occasions. If I can figure out how to add a photo I will. And what inspired me to write a review is that I have been working with Sally and Jeff on their website and I have come to enjoy and appreciate what a gift they both are. They are kind, friendly, easy going and generous people. Their website is full of great resources like other local artisans, other local places to go for those visiting Calistoga; and they share the love with their work by showing off people with their pottery on their website. They have a kids page, and so much more. And finally, it is a great place to visit because the shop is in a cozy spot with shelves of their beautiful pottery and you can watch Jeff working right there in the shop. Wonderful! read more

Amazing pottery! You can tell that they are very passionate about what they do. Their place is neat. And you can catch a glimpse of their studio as well (lucky enough, I got a quick tour). Well made and wide range of variety. I live in a city and barely get a chance to see such beautifully made pottery. Definitely need to stop by if you are an artsy person! Oh what a lovely shop! I really enjoyed my visit here. They also have all sorts of practical/functional pieces, such as sauce bowls, salsa/dip dishes, mugs, plates, and more. All pieces are food safe, handmade, and fired in the studio by the owners, Jeff and Sally. Overall very solid and high quality. I bought a snack bowl and a tea cup, they are absolutely adorable. Be sure to check out their french butter keepers, they are neat and they make great gifts. Jeff ans Sally were super friendly. Jeff showed us the studio and gave us a brief history of the area, also recommend more great galleries to visit. read more

I am a big fan of made to use pottery so when we ended up in Calistoga for an afternoon, I knew I would find something I would like here. The store owner and her husband make 80% of the items themselves and have a wide variety of colors and items. Many of the items are made for some of the Napa Valley restaurants and you can purchase them. I ended up buying a beautifully glazed deep blue and green spoon rest with a divet in one edge. I haven't seen anything like it. Check out this store if you are looking for unique pottery items which are made to use in your home and kitchen. read more

Calistoga Pottery makes beautifully crafted pottery. Each of my mugs is well constructed, dishwasher, and microwave safe. The owners are also very generous. One of my piece broke randomly while I was washing it. I contacted Calistoga Pottery to let them know what had happened, and within a week a new mug had been delivered to my doorstep! This is a very nice shop with a wonderful couple as owners. Genuine craftsmanship. If you are looking for mass production then this is not the place for you. If you are looking for high quality pieces made by hand then I highly recommend Calistoga Pottery. They are open during covid but you need to call for an appointment. read more

Our family stopped by Calistoga Pottery last week and we didn't want to leave this beautiful showroom/studio. Our young daughters are interested in producing pottery, and when we walked in the shop, Sally took the lead, teaching them many fine points about stoneware, glazes, and showed us particular examples. We learned much about pottery-- and also about the Calistoga the area (as mentioned the previous reviewer). Jeff was so kind to give to us an hour-long demonstration at the potter's wheel, with even a bit of hands-on! Our time at the shop was informative and memorable. We brought home with us a wonderful French butter pot and a stoneware platter. We will enjoy these pieces for a lifetime. There are so many nice pieces in the store that we would have loved to take with us! It is definitely a "first stop" if you visit Calistoga, and a place that is so like Calistoga-- beautiful, secluded, and welcoming! read more

This studio is a beautiful and tranquil little place. I bought a mug here several months ago while I was in Calistoga one weekend and was bummed when it cracked and fell apart while I was drinking coffee out of it recently. I emailed the owners to notify them of the defect, and two days later, received a replacement AND a refund shipped to my address. Talk about awesome customer service! I would not hesitate to purchase anything from here ever again. They take pride in what they do and stand behind the quality of their work. I have loved this place for years. It is the real deal. They are true artists and have devoted their lives to their craft. The coffee cups and bowls I bought here years ago are still like new, and I have several of their vases throughout my house. The colors of the glazes are perfect, the quality is great.
