Randi Callahan seems very knowledgeable, easy to talk to, she really made me feel confident she was doing her due diligence to help the public. She guarantees unlimited attempts and charged me $205 for two cases. I got a little concerned when I didn't hear back for a while. I emailed on 7/27/2022 to get an update. No response. I called her on 7/29/2022 and she said that she was in the field and couldn't speak and to email her and she would get back to with an update. I emailed her again and no response. I left a voicemail on 8/1/2022 and NO RESPONSE. I was getting nervous. My husband called 30 minutes later from a different number and she picked up stating that her team made several attempts and they would try again tonight. She finally emailed me back with an update on 8/1/2022 and apologized for the delay. Just when I was losing all hope in humanity, Randi decided to drive there and personally serve the individual herself. Randi is one badass MF bc I don't know if I could do what she does. When she sent me photos of the individual's home, it looked like she walked into Bin Laden's compound. Geeezus! All I can say is Randi's got some balls! I would be scared to death to walk into these places not knowing what to expect. I guess the moral of the story is be patient and have a little faith. You never know what the on the other side of that fence. She has no fear and will get the job done. Mission accomplished. With that being said, I give them 4/5 stars. Randi definitely knows what she's doing although I experienced a similar theme as some of the other Yelpers with the communications. Blame it on the rain? Blame it on mercury in retrograde, idk. I am taking someone to small claims for our business and serving papers via certified mail was unsuccessful. I called 3 different places to compare prices October 2025. Approximately one month prior to the court date. I received a quote for $65 for 3 attempts to serve and another quote for $75 for 4 attempts. If they have to attempt more than 3 times, it would cost an additional. Randi quoted me a flat fee of $95 for unlimited attempts to serve. This is the way to go in my opinion. I learned a lot from Randi on how the process works. She was very helpful and informative. She provided me updates when I emailed requesting for an updated status. If I need to serve papers again, I will definitely call Randi. read more

Look at my photos.. This woman is the biggest fraud! She will tell you everything you want to hear and once she has your credit card, the lies and unanswered phone calls begin. I hired her to serve two addresses/respondents with restraining orders on behalf of my 12 year old son being bullied and beat up. She was given two home addresses and retained. The following morning before any update or confirmed attempts, I shared proof of service from the Sheriff department portal on one address at 7am via email. She suddenly told me "we already attempted last night and early this morning." No info or photos were provided but her saying she'd already attempted, gave her cause to charge me even though the Sheriff served and she knew it. Once charged, Randi gives unlimited attempts (so she says) so I told her to continue to serve this address despite Sheriff's already doing it...I'd paid her to serve! It was never attempted again despite my request of repeat service. She then went after the other address, claiming multiple attempts and multiple servers attempts without success. Yet what I got was only two photos and a story about the respondent evading. Randi claims everyone has ring doorbells and cameras so they hide; when in reality, she doesn't do her job to the best of her ability. At this point, I was charged $660 ($165x 4) because Randi claimed both parents and minors needed to be served. This fact needing four persons served has been disproven to me via courts, my attorney and the Sheriff Dept. It's a unique circumstance of minors able to file as adults for assault and I did not need to pay for four separate services. She told me I needed all four parties served in order to charge me more money. At that point I'm out $660 and she's served nobody but I can have her continue attempts, so I do! She then she tells me to give her new addresses to try, for a whole new set of fees (x4) because her "attempts" aren't working. With a court date looming I ask about a stakeout which Randi tells me will be $65 an hour with a four hour minimum. I agree stupidly despite my questioning her practices. I give info on where to wait and then silence on her end! Not until mid day 24 hours later when I call several times and finally email, does she respond. I'm then told the stakeout failed and get some non-sense story about a trailer moving spots as proof she actually was there and I'm given photos from the previous days attempt with no times on them. They are previous days extra photos held back from me just cropped; shadows all in the same place claiming it's a different day and different time! Clear lies and stories of a stakeout that never happened and I can see it because I'm sitting at the property myself as she's lying to me! I was dumbfounded! I couldn't believe she was trying to lie and doing it so badly! I called her out on it and told her to charge my card and be done, I let her know I was pissed and told her what I thought of her company and her practices. She knew instantly she'd been caught for everything. She told me "no no, if you're unhappy I'm not comfortable charging you for the stakeout!" It's because she knew she'd lied about it. She didn't charge me for the stakeout but swears it happened and promised she has photos with time stamps she has yet to provide me with. They don't exist and on a iPhone...you CAN change the times/dates in the camera roll, google it Randi. I'll include a photo for you here too! All LIES!! This woman is a fraud, she manipulates her emails, photos and truths to get money. When you question her, she uses legal terms and says you're attempting blackmail because you mention you'll leave a bad Yelp review. She went to a home, took 4-5 photos and did nothing else! She held a few back to use later passing them off as a different day but the suns shadows don't lie. She spews stories of attempts in email and calls them "proof." She won't answer the phone because she thinks if she writes it, it's proof. In a case where my son is being hunted and beaten by bullies, this woman did this to me and when I questioned her practices, she had the audacity to call me a bully and tell me my questions of her were threats and blackmail. She's a terrible, dishonest person and she she took advantage of me in the most emotionally fragile state I've ever been in...fighting for my child's safety and well being. She needs to be put out of business. We sat near these properties ourselves for days and she did not do what she was paid to do! In the end, she's entitled to half of what I ended up paying. She tried to steal money for a stakeout that didn't happen and she took $330 for attempts on a home she didn't even go to. She took advantage of me and all it meant to her was money. DON'T HIRE THIS PROCESS SERVER! My 70 year old mother ended up completing service where this process serving company failed. In her reply, she will show who she really is, watch for it! I struggled with the legal filing company out of Temecula for a week before they dropped the ball, which left me with very little time to file in District Court in San Diego, I called Callahan with 35 minutes left on Friday afternoon and their whole attitude from minute one was "we can get this done for you" Randi took charge and directed me to forward my filing documents while she flagged her carrier and viola: within 25 minutes the carrier called with the court clerk saying my case was filed with court fees paid as if it was days in the making! I have to admit that I was reluctant to try Callahan Attorney Services after reading the lengthy scathing reviews on here. Apprehensively, I called and left a message at Callahan Attorney Services. Randi listened to my situation and explained all of their services, including different prices for different service options. I ended up signing up for the rush service, hoping that would do the trick. Randi even scheduled for my paperwork to be picked up, so I didn't have to send it over. I have to admit that I had my doubts along the way. Randi's team was unable to serve the respondent in the limited time they had before the hearing. Unable to visibly witness the attempts, it's easy to wonder how much effort is actually being put in, if any at all. After my hearing was extended, Randi's team kept trying, at no additional fee. I was pretty impressed by the amount of role playing they were willing to do! But of course I still questioned if any of it was actually being done. Despite my apprehensions, Randi would answer my calls even at hours that I felt were far too late for most businesses, like well after 7pm. Her level of dedication is something I have rarely ever experienced from any business. Alas, despite Callahan's efforts, nothing had been successful. The respondent's schedule was far too unpredictable, and they were not likely to answer the door for anyone. Randi was honest and did not recommend a stake-out in my situation, due to a combination of the cost and nature of the respondent. I truly appreciated this level of honesty. Ultimately, I recalled Randi and my initial phone conversation about a bait and switch method. It was a spur of the moment decision when I called Randi and told her I wanted to try it. She had to drop everything to start prepping for it, as there was limited time to act. Yet, Randi was up for the challenge. Randi was also up front, reminding me that a different location meant a new expedited service charge. The whole situation was intense. I was juggling, Randi was juggling, and the respondent kept shifting locations within the same general vicinity, to which I had to keep convincing them to go back so they could easily be found by Randi and her team member. The commute to where she needed to get to was an hour away. Randi had to get the paperwork revised to the new location, find an available team member, and rush out the door. She decided to also attend this service, at no extra fee, in case the person fled or some type of backup was needed. I can't emphasize how fast Randi worked to get out to this location, given the various obstacles, including rush-hour traffic. Just as the respondent's phone was starting to die, Randi and her team member arrived, inconspicuously, and service was completed. Randi even took a video of the respondent as evidence. When she called to tell me of the success, it felt like a miracle, and I knew I was wrong about all my doubts. Even though I never voiced my doubts to anyone, I felt like I owed her an apology, and decided that I would go against the grain of review culture and write about my positive experience. Randi, I may have had my initial reservations, and various doubts along the way, but in the end, you and your team really delivered for me. I can't speak to the situations the negative reviewers had, but I can speak for my own. You were easy to talk to and a great listener. You were upfront about pricing. You aren't the cheapest, but I know my money would have been wasted if I'd chosen anyone else. Also, I required rush service, which is notoriously more expensive. Customer service like yours is unparalleled these days. I knew after everything you did for me on the day of service that I was going to have to come back to Yelp and say, "I'm sorry for quietly doubting you, and I was wrong." People always say things like, "I'd give 0 stars if I was allowed to," but if I could give more than the maximum limit of stars to Callahan Attorney Services, I absolutely would. After deciding to write this review, I used Callahan Attorney Services for Proof of Mail Service. Originally, I was going to do this on my own, which would have been free, but found out at the last moment that this option was not a viable one. Again, Randi was quick to reply. The service was not cheap, but as usual, I put in a last minute request, which required service that day and proof well before close of business on the next day. Randi and her team came through for me again. I'm definitely not advocating for last second requests like mine, but illustrating them is important to show the extent of the team's services absolutely exceeding expectations. This is the most incompetent process server in San Diego. I have practiced law for 16 years and NEVER have I hired such an incompetent process server. BE WARNED. She will take your money and NOT respond. She will lie about serving. She will not return your calls in a timely manner! I emailed my client's Unlawful Detainer on May 12, and the first attempt was not even made for 5 days!! She NEVER called me to tell me she could not serve the defendant. I had to call her. She does not know how to correctly complete a proof of service. I specifically asked her BEFORE I hired her if she knew how to serve unlawful detainers, she promised that she did. She does not. It took her nearly 30 days to serve the defendant when all I had to do was obtain an order for posting. Landlords lose money every day a non paying tenant is in place. She just does not care about anything but you paying her OVERPRICED fees. She lies about sending out your documents. (Talk about the "check is in the mail".) Wow. I had to drive to her Postal Annex Office and collect documents she had been promising me for over a week!!! I charged her for my time (at my paralegal rate) and now she is pissed! Posted a negative review of my business on Yelp. She taunts me and thinks it's funny that since she is the first to review me, I now have a 1 star. Do not hire this process server. Randi will tell you one price and then charge you a higher price. I showed her the email of her price quote, she didn't care. She said the quote was for a "different area". Really? She never disclosed she charges $25 per person to post a summons in addition to the already paid in advance $145. I just wish I had viewed her Yelp reviews. I would never have hired her. I am a diligent, hard working attorney that puts the concerns of my clients before my own. To that end, I largely represent landlords who make their living from rental income. When a tenant does not pay rent, the landlord loses money every day the tenant remains in possession. In the above case, the daily rate of rent is $25.83 or $1,550 per month. With that said, I happened upon your website as I was looking for a new process server because mine had just retired. You indicated you had unlawful detainer experience. You provided me a price quote in your email. Demanding payment first, I initially sent you my credit card information wherein you charged me $145 before any work had been completed. Then I did not hear from you for days! I thought I had been scammed. I know you remember that conversation. Now, I do not bitch about people. But when I am told a business service provider has specific expertise in a specific area of practice, I expect that business provider to know their job. The staff was available at all times by text or email or phone. They gave me specific details of the interaction with my soon to be ex. We hired these guys to do a service of subpoena. Original calls and emails were answered promptly so we hired them. They required advance payment by credit card which was promptly paid, after that all I get is un-returned phone calls and unanswered emails. We were scammed. I requested several times for a receipts and status, to no avail. Owner, Randi will tell you what you want to hear i.e., "we've tdone this before many times and were successful tracking down people, we know the procedure, etc." and once she gets your credit card, that is the end of service. Callahan was the third place I called, the first two never answered their phones. When the really nice woman answered the phone, I was pleased. She answered all my questions and then some. She was very patient and kind, and I appreciated all the advice she gave me and she wasn't being pushy at all, so I immediately decided to use their service. They tried several times to serve the defendant, with no luck, due to some strange circumstances on the defendants part. My girlfriend an I live in Minnesota an needed divorce papers to her husband be served in California. The day they received my check it was cashed an a few days later he was served. We were pleased with the timely manner. Now however it has been a couple days shy of a month an we still haven't been sent the affidavit from Callahan services. We have Been told via email/phone 4 separate times that the affidavit will be sent out priority mail as well as email. Which it hasn't. All she wants is a divorce while she cannot file without that affidavit as we have more than once explained to them. I feel like the $85 I paid them was for nothing. If the affidavit would've been sent the next day or even couple days later after the service like they claimed the first time I would highly recommend them. But as of now I won't. I hope that affidavit comes quickly. I'm disappointed an will update my review upon receiving the affidavit. read more

I had a similar experience as Mike L below. The woman I spoke to initially was very pleasant, but the services they provide are just plainly sub-par. We handled the transaction over email/phone, but then...crickets. Not even a receipt or email confirmation. I had no indication whether they had actually started or any updates along the way. I emailed them a week later for an update, however, they did not respond for another week. The update was to inform me that they had been unable to reach the person at the location provided, recommended stopping attempts there, and proceeding at another address for another $85 fee. I'm sure these are good people, but I get the feeling they subcontract out the actual servicing, leaving them less than knowledgeable about any statuses etc. In fact, I am still not actually sure any attempts were even made. With all that in mind, I had a friend accomplish what they were not able to, in one single attempt, at the exact time and location provided. Shut her down! This is not an Attorney Service. There is no supervising attorney present. Randi is a Process Server. She takes your check, cashes it and then the 2 WEEK battle began to get a completed Proof of Service form back from her. Every time I spoke to her, the story, date, time and location changed! When I pressed her, she became rude, combative, degrading and even more evasive! I finally threatened to call the S.D. Police on her, and ONLY then did she mail my form to me. I've read 5 websites full of complaints from people who felt Randi was jeopardizing their Custody Hearings by NOT responding to them as to whether or not the Respondent was even served! Then she told me "she felt my small claims Hearing was not important"! Since when is it the job of a Process Server to JUDGE the paperwork she is serving, and prioritize it! Her Linked-in website claims she makes $150,000. annually with only 2 yrs of college? I bet she's making the money alright, but is she paying taxes on ALL the checks she cashes daily, for non-performance? Get rid of her! We hired Callahan Attorney services several months ago and we have been contacting them for months trying to get our return of service sent back to us. We were finally able to reach them one time in January in which they stated that they had been attempting service. Since January we have not been able to reach them in any form. We have sent letters, emails, faxes and phone calls, but have yet to receive our return of service. All we need is the return of service showing the supposed service attempts, yet we have been unable to get a return call or email. We Prepaid the fees and are very disappointed in the way that Callahan Attorney Services have conducted business. I trust all of my service needs to Callahan Attorney Services. They have never let me down in all the time I have used them. Yes, they may charge a bit more than others at times, however, I have had process servers never even attempt service, charge me, and state that they just could not find the person. On one occasion a server actually informed me that he could not serve someone at an open business because nobody was there. After that, I switched to Callahan and have never had a problem. Callahan has staked people out for me at a reasonable rate and they always get their man. As for the person who claims to have been ripped off, if Amex refunded you, why are you seeking more money from Callahan? It appears that you were already reimbursed, and the service was done. I was very disappointed with Callahan Attorney Services. They did not stay within the time constraints for serving a small claims notice. They did not update me on the status, I had to call each time to find out what was going on. They did not return my phone calls once. The absolute worst was they said they served the notice and would send notification to the court. We missed work, drove an hour to court, only to find out that nothing was served! Now we must start the entire procedure over again, thanks to Callahan Attorney Service. I called to find out what happened and still have never received a phone call back (of course).
