The best headshot photography studio and demo reels in Toronto. Period. It's insane to me that not more headshot studios copy Callback Headshots business model but then so much of it comes from Dan being a guy who just really gets it. He acts himself (I recognized him from like a million commercials when we first met) and also is a filmmaker and has done photos for second city and a whole bunch of other places in the city. He loves actor and tries to make the whole thing easy and fair. So you know how I said that stuff about the business model? He doesnt charge extra for stuff... You select in advance the number of touched up shots, pay for it, and then he gives you all the shots. You dont have to pay for an extra cd and you dont have to pay him a bunch for prints. So already thats way better than so many of the places that charge $400 for the session (he charges $275) plus extra for the shots plus extra for prints plus extra for whatever they come up with last minute. The biggest strength Dan has though is definitely getting you comfortable and bringing out your personality. He is pretty funny so you very quickly get relaxed and then he busts out these directing scenerios for you to get you thinking up different characters and situations. I've been to a bunch of different head shot photographers and this one by and far was the best. From the moment you walk in, Dan puts you at ease. He's down to earth, funny, and great at directing you to get that perfect shot. For example I didn't really know what kind of face to put on or emotion to display and he fed me a bunch of different scenarios until we found some that worked. He was not watching the time through out, we simply stopped when we felt we had enough good ones. That's cool when most photographers are keen to take your pictures get you out ASAP. As another reviewer mentioned Dan has an ultra-chill cat named Pepper. Cats are proven to lower blood-pressure and perhaps Dan knows this and so keeps her around for his more nervous clients, haha. After the session Dan put all the photos up on his website where I was able to sift through them on my own time and begin the careful process of selecting my favourite ones for him to edit. After I picked them he was quick to touch them up and send them back to me, so I can start using them to book roles! I just recently did a head shot for my 8 year old son who is venturing into the acting/modelling industry. I went and looked online for a photographer who could capture my son's "spirit and charm". This was his first time doing a photoshoot so it was a bit intimating. Dan was FANTASTIC, his easy-going and laid back approached enable us to feel comfortable and "at home". It is challenging to work with kids, but when you have a child who has ZERO experience, I think the challenge is even greater. And I really was impressed with Dan's style and approach. This is the best studio for actor headshots in the city. The photographer is a successful filmmaker and actor himself and knows how to get the best out of you. My session was very fun and relaxed and with Dan's direction we got a ton of options that absolutely helped get me an agent in Toronto. Got lots of compliments on my headshots since and plan on going back. Prices are very cheap... He charges less than $300 and you get far more than what $500plus photographers give you.
