If it is offered, use that company Employee Assistance Program…read more TL;DR I always leave in a better headspace, takes EAP/Insurances, and staff is great! There is no conversation that teaches you everything you need to know to get through the emotional road-map of adulting. Jobs are stressful, relationships are stressful, and positive self improvement can spiral into self loathing. This is why I love my mental health check up's with Dr. Debra Mills-Irvin! Dr. Mills does a great job of showing empathy, offering advice, validating my feelings, and helping me articulate my thoughts. I've been seeing her, as needed, for the last year and its really helped me recharge my emotional strength. I definitely recommend this office and Dr. Mills for any perspective re-calibration and emotional breather you need to deal with the life stress we all can feel. Office is located on the second floor of a building in a business part across the street from Kroger. The office takes Aetna PPO insurance, provides text reminders, and offers easy scheduling.

Therapy can be really tough. So when I began 6 months ago, I was skeptical. Enter Lisa Campbell--…read morethe therapist I was assigned to. She listened, remembered details, was gentle but pushed, and helped me eventually work through my PTSD. I know a lot of people are scared or embarrassed about going for therapy, but I believe mental health is just as important as physical health, and needs to be treated as such. The staff were always very welcoming, the location was easy to reach/find, there is plenty of Kleenex, and never once did I feel embarrassed. Gratefully, today I am in a much better place. Thank you, Lisa.

I had been looking for a psychiatrist who specialized in this particular field since it is something I struggled with for a while. When doing my research I came across Dr. Walker and found out he had a similar educational background as myself as well as living with ADHD too. Making an appointment was extremely easy. I sent an email and received a response from their office admin, Kathleen. The office is a little different than normal doctor offices. There are no on site admins; this is to help keep costs reduced. All communication is through email/phone regarding scheduling. Louisville ADHD does not take any type of insurance but you can file claims on your own if you have out of network coverage. The waiting area has a good deal of information regarding ADD/ADHD. It is very clean and relaxing. There is an entrance to the waiting room and the exit is from Dr. Walker's office. This way the patients never run into each other and I really appreciate that consideration for privacy. Appointments usually last 50 min and can run around $150 for the initial appointment and $300 for the following. I know what you are probably thinking....this is so much money...BUT...hear me out. I've been a patient since November and in less than a month I have had tremendous improvements with my ability to focus both using therapy and medication. I would highly recommend Dr. Walker if you are searching for a psychiatrists who specializes in this field. He genuinely cares about his patients and their progress by offering real therapy and not just medication. Excellent, excellent service, experience, and knowledge!

The team is very good about setting expectations and communicating in advance. For example, about varied hours around holidays. They know how to work with folks that have ADHD and the process is smooth and easy to work with. In the last 4 months working with Dr Walker I have managed to complete two sections of a basement remodel, we can park in the garage for the first time since we moved in, and I have lost almost 25 lbs. These improvements are directly related to having the proper medication and guidance of this staff. Thank you!
