This king cake was a gift that we received hot and fresh as if it was straight out of the oven but it was actually probably just warm from being on the FedEx truck. We decided to dive right in.... spouse hails from New Orleans and when he saw the name of the cake was from "Caluda's" he proclaimed "never heard of it!" We shared it with two friends who had never had king cake and they inhaled it! After trying multiple king cakes over the years ....some from high-end bakeries.... we can without doubt claim this is by far the best one ever! It has a healthy amount of cinnamon filling found in your typical cinnamon roll and is so fresh. I never understood the king cake and was never a fan until today! My sweet friend in NoLa shipped me a king cake! Being a native, he knows what's good, so I might have guessed he would pick a bakery that is top notch! I had the traditional king cake. That naked baby popped out with the very first slice! I shared it with a couple of my friends and they loved it too. It arrived to my doorstep fresh and delicious. I've been to three meetings catered by Cottage Catering and all were very good. Ample portions and very good flavors. The Mediterranean chicken is really good with just the right amount of spinach and feta. Roasted mixed vegetables were great, and the spinach salad was good but had a bit too much dressing. The service is also very good. For our lunch buffet, they took care of everything, including clean-up, and all with a smile and happy attitude. The service for our continental breakfast was a bit less impressive. While the guy delivering it was friendly, he didn't set it up - just dropped it off and left. We had to get all the napkins and utensils out, and dig the coffee stir sticks out of a bag of creamer packs. Everything we needed was included and the food was good. Despite the minor inconvenience with the breakfast set up, I would recommend this caterer and will probably use them again for our meetings. read more

She really prioritized my catering needs and allowed me to customize my order to fit my guests needs. The bbq chicken was tender and seasoned well, crawfish pasta was amazing, gumbo was a crowd pleaser(my family is a tough crowd) the crawfish strudel was delicious as usual and deviled eggs were good. They helped us pick a great menu and options for our Rehearsal dinner and kept it in Budget. The best part was the food, it was all absolutely amazing delivered hot and fresh right on time! I've only come to Cottage Catering to get the Caluda's King Cake. During the off season they typically make about 4 king cakes a day that anyone can buy, but if you really want a king cake, make sure to pre-order it the day or two before. During the Mardi Gras Season, Caluda's does some wonderful special king cakes of the week including: Chocolate Chip, Maple Bacon Praline, and Banana Foster. These sell out quick so if you want one of the special week king cakes, I suggest getting there when they open at 7 am. When I walked into Cottage Catering, it appeared the only thing I could purchase was kingcakes, I didn't see much that I could just go in and purchase. There were a couple of menus I looked at that including catering. Maybe one day I will come back to try the actual catering, but the King Cake is pretty decent! read more

I love Cottage Catering! When I was in medical sales for 3 years, I often depended on them to cater lunches for a crowd. Everything they served was spot on. My favorite things included the vegetable tray, with the yummiest grilled veggies. That was a real crowd pleaser. If I couldn't decide what to serve, they were very helpful. I could just give them a price range, and they always came through with flying colors! The real crowd pleaser was always the white chocolate bread pudding. Don't waste your time. I ordered a King Cake to be delivered in time for my family's special occasion... it arrived over a week after it was shipped (8 days to be exact), and had MOLD all over it. Completely inedible, so can't really review on the taste/quality of their cakes... but their customer service (or lack there of) was disgusting. Shipping delays happen, but at least have the decency to reply to emails, return calls and/or make any effort at all to resolve the issue. Instead they just ghosted me (going on 2 weeks now), and i ended up paying over $60 for a few stands of cheap beads. STOP using Covid as an excuse for poor business practices. Caluda's bakery makes one of the best king cakes I have ever eaten and I have had a fair share of King cakes from Maurice's, Haydel's to Randazzo's. The bread is so soft that it melts in your mouth. I had a dialogue going with Cottage Catering about my event and confirmed the date and time, and that I definitely wanted to hire them (I have both an email and text thread clearly demonstrating this in case they try to claim otherwise). They sent me menus, and we were going back and forth to fine-tune exactly what we wanted. They told me I had until Wednesday to lock the menu so they could order ingredients for Friday's event, but on Tuesday, sent me a message saying they wouldn't be able to cater the event as promised because other people came in and wanted that slot so they were now unable to do the job. They told me this TWO DAYS BEFORE MY EVENT, and left me scrambling to find a replacement. Their demonstrable lack of ethics and willingness to honor their word should serve as a warning to anyone considering hiring them for their event, and given my personal experience (I've dealt with caterers all over the country for many years, and have never had anyone act so unprofessionally), I urge anyone seriously considering spending their hard-earned money to look elsewhere; there are plenty of honorable, ethical caterers in the area who will do a great job for you, and unlike Cottage Catering, won't leave you high and dry. Horrible customer service. The had me visiting 3 times for my king cake flavors I wanted. Third time manager promised she would hold cake for me. When I went there she did not have my king cake. The second king cake I had was dry from them. I was willing to over look. But making a customer drive all the way to your store and then you lied to them, horrible.I ended up going to Randazo. They had line going out the door. For the 5 minute I sat at Caluda's I was the only customer. I see why Randazo has line and they don't. Coffee Cottage is a classic down here. Originally in Old Metairie, the only location left now is in River Ridge in the site of a previously failed coffee bar locale. Coffee Cottage isn't actually known for it's coffee. It's really known for it's King Cakes and it's Crawfish Struedel they serve up at JazzFest. I have used Cottage Catering for countless office breakfast and lunch meetings over the last 5 years. They offer a wide variety of choices at very resonable prices. The food always arrives on time, at the correct temperature, all of the details are taken care of, and it is consistantly excellent. The cheese grits are AMAZING!
